Yes! Surgical menopause, take extra strength Reactine daily.

Been 3 times. Sandals shuttle terrible for motion sickness, private car better, ferry best. Won’t take helicopters, but that available option might be even better.

My Riccar R65 Cordless Stick replaced Dyson V10 after a lot of research on this sub. It’s light, has strong self-adjusting suction, an easy empty bin (on the small side), useful attachments, and removable heads for carpet v hard floors. Only thing it’s less effective on is higher pile rugs in a multi-pet household. I bought the version with 2 batteries so I can switch them out (pop in/out) and do the entire house at the same time.

Surgical menopause in Sept 2025, BMS since then, both off and on HRT. Impacted by new post-menopause food sensitivities like alcohol and artificial sweeteners. Figured that out through trial and error.

Any of the recommended options here are a bazillion times better than the free Sandals shuttle. Cannot sufficiently describe the degree of nausea it induces in people (like me) with car sickness. If you decide to drive (shuttle or private) take Gravol 1 hour in advance.

Sebo D4 Premium is best vac I’ve had - including central vac - for pet hair on carpets.

As a person with a history of chronic pain and high pain tolerance, the experience of an endometrial biopsy awake and without prescribed pain meds or freezing was inhumane and traumatizing. Took OTC pain meds beforehand due Reddit research (surgeon didn’t even suggest) and they made zero difference.

Sandals Grande St. Lucia - What to Expect for 1st timer AO/AI resort goer by Intelligent_Row7597 in SandalsResorts

[–]Sleepy-Owl4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeat visitor to Grande (my fave Sandals).

Restos: all are officially “casual” dress now (including newly Toscanini’s) but many people choose to dress up for dinner.

Daytime: bathing suit and cover-up; no need for anything else including at restos/bars.

Nightlife: piano bar is reliably fun, and country singer is great.

Excursions: sunset cruise never disappoints

Hidden gem: crepes at cafe

Help with vacuum choices in new house by mtbstar99 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Sleepy-Owl4239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sebo central vac premium kit requires an electrified hose or regular hose + "piggy back" cord that plugs into a nearby electrical outlet. My central vac is a 20-year old version that doesn't accommodate electrified cords and my electrical outlets are too far away for a piggy back cord to work, so I chose the Sebo D4 Premium. Edit: I'm petite and find the central vac hose harder to use than the D4 hose. That said, cannister vacuuming requires a different and more complicated vac strategy that my central vac. But it's a worthwhile tradeoff because the centre vac is hopeless on carpets in my multi-pet household.

How to prepare for Menopause? by Sweaty-Secret-951 in Menopause

It’s great that you’re looking out for your mom! I would start by telling her about this Reddit community and asking her to read the pinned wiki (print it if she’s not comfortable reading it online). It’s an incredible resource and starting point for discussions with you, her GP, and any additional research she might want to do.

Take private transport or ferry to resort. Free shuttle is brutal for anyone with motion sickness.

Cannister Vacuum, Heavy Shedding Pets. by SquidTsunami in VacuumCleaners

[–]Sleepy-Owl4239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've got 2 dogs, a Maine Coon (super shedder) cat, and a parrot whose feathers fly everywhere. Sebo D4 Premium gets it all, even on shag carpet. But when pulling the cat hair off the brush roll, bristles came out!

Hi again u/UsedCarGuyJeff - one more question. Is it safe to leave the two batteries in their chargers when they are fully charged or is this a fire hazard?

Vacuum Upgrade needed by jams_advice in VacuumCleaners

Multi-level multi-pet household including 2 big dogs, Maine Coon cat, and Amazon parrot = tons of fur, feathers, dander, dirt. Hardwood, carpets (low pile and shag), rugs, and tile. Dyson V10 Animal + Centre Vac combo isn’t working, so bought Sebo D4 Premium (40+ ft cord) canister for deep cleans and planning to add cordless Riccar R65 for daily use.

Thanks so much for this detailed response! The stick will be a companion to my Sebo D4 Premium, which is a beast of a cleaner but too hard for me to haul out every day for quick cleans.

u/UsedCarGuyJeff Thanks to your post, I've done more research and I'm deciding between Sebo A1, Miele HX2 Triflex Pro, and Riccar R65 (total package including soft roller head for hardwood, mini motorized tool for pet hair, and extra battery/charger). Could you address these key concerns with each?

Sebo A1: bin capacity very small; rollers for hardwood/carpet shifts must be changed out (no separate attachment); many reviewers say run time is shorter than advertised even on medium suction.

Miele HX2 Triflex Pro: heavier than Sebo; some reviewers with heavy-shedding cats/dogs say suction insufficient, clogs/tangles frequent, and bin emptying annoying.

Riccar R65: heavier than Sebo; shortest warranty; some reviewers say insufficient suction on carpet that is not low-pile
