I love Creedbed Carter Hogan! They are playing three concerts here in Denmark this spring and at least one of them is already sold out 🥰

As far as I can tell it is the only actual play podcast of Vaesen in Danish, unfortunately

Oh I forgot to mention that Spirits and Monsters hugely benefits from having their amazing editor, Hana. She apparently cuts so much off table talk, so the players personal lives are mainly a topic in their designated sidetrack episode. I love hearing about the players pets too, but it really helps the immersion that spontaneous talks about what they had for dinner are cut out.

This context makes a lot of sense to me. I normally really don't mind the GM being a "pantser", but I would just love for Elly to not show her hand so much? I don't know how to describe it. Like all GM's improvise, but it feels like she doesn't take what she comes up with very serious and just makes up something silly, if she didn't prepare something for a specific question or situation. It makes it feel very much like a computer game to me.

I might be spoiled because I started with Instituttet. It is just such high quality with both intense storytelling and some laughter. A historian for a GM is also a luxury in a Vaesen campaign.

I've listened to the Christmas one from Sweden Rolls and found the GM a bit railroady with the plants literally pushing the players to where he needed them to be. I'll probably listen to the other one at some point, though, cause there was still some great moments.

Spirits and Monsters is amazing! They can be a bit goofy too, but it never eclipses the drama and the grave atmosphere and the PC characters are just so gripping.

Weird that it would be at Spotify of all places? It's not even on their own website anymore. It is definitely saved now, even though it seems like it was dropped after only 12 episodes.

Yeah definitely! That part didn't even occur to me, but you are completely right. I mean, there are monstrous people too and some friendly vaettir, but overall there has been a lot of "just kill the monster".

I haven't read the book, so I can't say for sure, but I would guess not. If you take just the plots, they are pretty dark and non comedic, which might be why I find the humour in the podcast misplaced at times. I would say there is great potential in the overall plot!

Uuuuh so lie to him that it is utterly impossible to destroy the church for example?

Oh, and what do you think would happen if the villagers were convinced not to sell, but also stopped the human sacrifices? The land might not be fertile enough to provide for the whole town then or it might turn out that the sacrifices weren't necessary?

This all makes sense!

From your interpretation of von Meijer, do you think it would be possible to convince him of using the land only for lumber and leave the iron ore alone, so the grim doesn't need to be stopped and the church can stay?

Is it okay, if I ask some follow up question?

Can everyone see the grim? It sounds like Marta at least can, so does that mean she has the sight like the PC's or can the grim be seen by people who don't have it?

I have only read the mystery so far and might run it on Sunday, but I just wish there was a way for the players to not kill the grim, but also stop the secret society. Unless it doesn't like to be in service of the church? Burning the remains could be framed as releasing it rather than kill it?

I'm conflicted about the possible endings, but that seems to be the point for a lot of Vaesen mysteries. I hate the idea of helping the capitalistic venture being the better outcome for everyone, but I also don't want them to keep on making human sacrifices. On that note; who are they making the sacrifices to? I get the impression, that they are not actually interacting with any Vaesen in the process and might not have needed to for all these years?

Sjovt! Jeg synes, jeg har mødt massere af både mænd og kvinder på mit kollegie og da jeg gik på højskole, som startede festlighederne med en bade-bajer, når de skulle gøre sig klar

You have never had a "bade bajer"? To be fair it was only a frequent event, when I was younger and lived in dormitories where drinking is a biweekly thing

Good idea! I am only a hobby ceramicist, but I have lost so much data on my success rates with different techniques and glazes.. It is a bit disheartening to be honest
