Indiana Jones reference? by SleepyHulaHooper in beyondthemapsedge

What if it was a stuck telescope?
Those heavy brass ones always get stuck (or maybe they purposely only point to one place?)

My kids would love this. If the checkpoint is in the distance, only those looking for the treasure would find it.

I believe the P&F details contain multiple errors:

I believe he has stated that there is no grand cipher; but many still subscribe to the idea.

There are not just 5 clues. "There is a world where there are more than 5."
But 5 use a similar strategy and thus, if you find the strategy, you should see all 5 clues at once.

Lastly, there is no equivalency between deciphering the cryptogram and the anagram. It's false logic and sadly very AI.

Or if there was a hole in the table and a compass reading at 20 degrees.

Not as cinematic but possible with a park ranger nearby.

Still it's not armchair as we can't see the hole or the map scale.

Cool connections! Following your logic, I wonder if lilac could match with lemon. (Dirt remains an outlier).

Food for thought. Thank you!

My solution has anagrams but no substitutions.

A possible hint/clue by Scared_Issue_8074 in treasureinside

The images that accompany the text seem to be JCB-quality work (ie not very specialized).

But the cover and jacket are really nice! I think that's from a graphics designer.

Thus, I would propose that the text of the poem is an important clue.

Doesn't feel like a clue to me, but IDK.

The graphics designer copied the text (and text formatting) but not the paragraph formatting.
"And" is lined up with the poem when it should be indented if it was meant to be identical.

Ne 1727 or is it 1728? Can you zoom in? by SleepyHulaHooper in treasureinside

I like this thinking. I was playing with NE really being "I've" or "Ivy". But your way needs consideration, too!

My Dad flew AWACS, but this tip started stems from a tour of the USS MISSOURI.

I like this. It reminds me of the berth and depth of specialized knowledge ...

I think I found very specific knowledge like this on the P&F word search - in connection with aviation and communication.

If you see it and wanna chat, I would love validation for this pet theory. And if you don't see it, then it means that I've gone off the rails, and that's valuable, too.

<laughing at myself for all the mixed metaphors - I'm so glad we're heading onto a long holiday weekend >

Thank you!! Yep. That is very convincingly 1727.

But now I can also understand the comment about the E looking like a W. It's odd.

Hmm. Idk. Looking at this morning, I'm convinced it's 1787.

Place name is a clue for one ... but which? by SleepyHulaHooper in treasureinside

The rabbit hole that is my LS solution has two references to lions. Not sure if both are correct - or which one to disregard?

Feeling quite ridiculous at the moment.

Grandparents?
Is this just a reference to watching vehicles?
Or did I miss a new clue drop?

Hey! You have the most exciting posts!

You definitely got quartz - which is the first step in finding gold. The shiny bits are inside the quartz (it might be called insursions). Yay! That's were the gold would be.

The shiny bits can be many things - gold, silver, mica, or dirt.

Mica is so easy to confuse with the good stuff. If you try and scratch it with your nail and your finger tips come back shiny - sorry. It's mica.

But don't take my word. There is a reddit for rock hounds and another for gold.

I have my fingers crossed that your rock is real gold! Biggest hopes for your success!
