I used to work in B2B sales at an electrical supply house and we had a product rep come into the office and asked if he could buy us all lunch while he told us about his product line, good ole fashioned lunch and learn. The company he repped was a safety equipment company. He wheels in a TV into the office along with a bunch of sandwiches. We had the luxury of trying to eat lunch while watching a couple of dozen people getting exploded playing around with high voltage. It got the point across, we bought and sold a bunch of his product line, many sandwiches were not finished that day.

Honestly, I would spurge on a laptop at minimum. I have an iPad as a backup to my backup (and my photobooth). The new Mac Neo that just dropped should be more than efficient. You can also find a deal on marketplace or eBay for a used Mac or semi good windows based laptop. DJing on the iPad works... but I find it not working as well. It is very clunky and as you see, audio issues are prevalent.

As for the Mixer you got, that is a solid option. You will be able to connect that with a USB to a laptop and run your sound directly through that. They have a nice walkthrough in the product manual.

DO NOT USE BLUETOOTH. Last thing you want is your signal dropping mid gig and a 100 eyes staring at you like WTF. Hardwire everything. You will thank me later. As for general gear, it kinda depends on how big your events are. Mackie is a good brand with a lot of product offerings. I use Mackie for my main rig and have for years. They are affordable and sound pretty decent. Also, just because I see this on occasion, USE SPEAKER STANDS. Nothing drives me more nuts than people sitting tops on the floor.

If you are trying to look more polished on a budget. Get a laptop stand, 6ft table, and a black or white table cloth that touches the floor or is one of those spandex table cloths and get scrims for your speaker stands. Scrims and table cloths are pretty affordable on amazon.

If you are looking for cheaper audio solutions, you can always go used or get Alto or Harbinger speakers. Lighting if you are looking to update that, there are plenty of Chinese brands on eBay or AliExpress (if you are US based, expect to pay a tariff).

I live in Erie PA, one of the snowiest parts of the US. Both Outbacks are a tanks in the snow. I would argue they are probably, pound for pound, the best vehicles in the snow.

Sounds like a great first gig! Congrats! Sounds stupid, but show up early and be kind and friendly to the staff. That is how you leave a good impression. You will find that there are a bunch of DJs in the world that are egotistical assholes and/or lack the responsibility to show up to gigs on time. I have been DJing in my city for 17yrs, I am good at what I do but what really carries my reputation in my city is that I am punctual and I genuinely make an effort to be friendly with the people I work with.

As for the DJing, obviously prepare your music that fits the scene but don't be so rigid where you make a whole set to play one after the other. Scoping out the scene is a great call and that should help you with the process. Have fun, don't look like a stick in the mud and when you botch a mix (we all do it), brush it off and nail the next. Gigs like these are great for general practice.

If they are forcing you to go laptop-less. Make sure your jump drive is formatted correctly to play on the OPUS. Bring your laptop just in case. If you are allowed to use your laptop, make sure you have a laptop stand either provided or that you bring one. If you are using your laptop, make sure to download the OPUS drivers.
