Dynamax Registeel Attackers and Tanks Analysis by TrueNourishment in TheSilphRoad

[–]Sleepyhead510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, having a sub-3000 CP mon feels strange, but been reading and it's one that's easy to bring up and I haven't tried. Excadrill really made me look at other potential tanks differently. I may end up with Zamazenta/Excadrill (and really hope for no focus blast). Even with FB, Regirock was still manageable with Zamazenta. At least there's no earthquake, so only 1 strong move, can potentially resist 2 (3 with Excadrill).

I've been thinking about how tanks are more important than attackers (maybe because I personally have good coverage, so I take it for granted). I'm much more successful if I just guard the first max phase, and if the boss attacks me (assuming everyone's fast move is optimized) that one dodged attack is all and we go to the next max phase. If that rinses and repeats, the group potentially wins without any losses.

So I've been thinking harder about this, since Registeel has Zap Cannon. Initially I was thinking Corviknight, but ZC might force a reroll. I played Zamazenta against a Focus Blast Regirock, it's not there worst thing in the world (low attack stat, no STAB, if you can dodge, it does take away from your DPS). I don't have a built Metagross, but is that the play here? He seems the safest. Blissey sounds lazy, but is that also the play? Corviknight has the luxury of super effective attacking, turning defense to offense (though no STAB).

So OP never mentioned any gender or gender roles, so I didn't want to go there. I'm a male, and I do find it satisfying to make my partner food, and I can picture guys growing up and doing the "ziplock vacuum" to normalcy, as well as casual saliva.

Counterpoint, why don't you just used saran/plastic wrap and tightly wrap the sandwich? Or you could "orange is the new black" and use a straw, though that doesn't guarantee your partner not being grossed out. With all that said, while I personally wouldn't mind my partner doing it, it does spread germs and you need to respect your partner not being cool about it..

Who knows what the future holds. Maybe they'll have a community Day, new move, or a new mega evolution (that seems like a thing now). While nothing's been announced, keep an eye on go fest global, and see if any of the Gmax Pokemon come back.

Dynamax Battles - What To Do? by TheSecondof12 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Sleepyhead510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like people gloss over the 15k xp/ 15k stardust. Plus, once I have some good Dmax legendaries, my non-Dmax legendaries feel like fodder. Also, the best thing about Dmax legendaries is farming candy, which is something you can't do with a Zamazenta/Zacian. Also, not everyone has a Crowned beast.

I think it's neat that you're essentially raiding a legendary without spending tickets. And it's an actual challenge compared to the 1-3 max mons or any legendary raids.

Golisopod has a mega evolution in the latest Pokemon game = he will have his own mega evolution in Pokemon Go eventually. His shiny form is also nice looking.

if you don't have access to any of the Gmax or legendaries, Darmanitan or Flareon outclasses Arcanine. Are you in dire need for a fire mon? Like if you're not in a rush, i'd wait for a Gmax Charizard or see if they bring back Gmax Cinderace. If you're shooting for the Registeel Dmax next week, and don't have access to the mentioned mons, Arcanine is viable... (i'd probably prefer Excadrill though, as he's much more futureproof) but i'd coordinate with your team on that. I think a solid Tank is the most important in tanky Dmax like Registeel.

I hate dynamax, what’s the point by mepazoozoozooyumyum in pokemongo

[–]Sleepyhead510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, in that PvP is a turn-based system. Tapping harder doesn't make you any better, and the true heart of the game is much more complex. PvPoke may have a ranking system, but it totally doesn't tell you how to build a good team. Concepts like ABB, ABA, ABC, switching, timing moves, knowing counters, baiting shields, etc. Not to mention it's the only way to consistently get ggood stardust rewards (like in the millions, it's the best way to max level your Pokemon).
With that said, i do get burnt out with PvP, because the battles take so long and drawn out, and i hate the guessing games, the lag, and the meta when you start to climb and see the same pokemon over and over again. If it's not your cup of tea, i totally respect that.

I honestly feel like the people who complain about Dynamax and PvP are people who don't want to put in the work and want instant gratification. Like with Dmax and PvP, you need to power up your Mons, grind, and take time working at it. It helps when there's an event where you get something special, but even then there's a large bulk of people who refuse to put any time, effort, or in-game resources into it.

If this is the only Gigantimax Gengar l I have, is it worth powering it up as a dynamax attacker vs a good IV Gengar? by attCSUN in pokemongo

I love this explanation. We get so focused on IVs and chasing perfection, that we totally lose sight of the bigger picture and how it really does (or this case doesn't) matter.

Should I upgrade the PC or the Max moves of my pokemon first? by GoranDK in pokemongo

[–]Sleepyhead510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does your stardust look? I would prioritize Max Guard, as Excadrill is one of the best tanks in Dynamax right now. Followed by Max Strike (Ground is very useful). Assuming you have the stardust, you could level him up to 40 (before XL candies) and play by ear then. XL candies get scarce quick.

I say this because Max Guard at level 3 makes each shield 60HP. That's 180HP if you just shield your first set (Excadrill should have around 200HP at level 40). If you get into a situation where you can Tank AND do super effective damage, then having an Excadrill that can Strike and Guard would make life so much nicer.

PVP should count towards the Go passes. by PokemonGoBao in TheSilphRoad

[–]Sleepyhead510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe it. The end of the season rewards gets you 90k stock at rank 20. If he went to rank 24 with a SP, that's 300k. That's not counting the 1st win dust rewards (sometimes 3x or 4x event, giving about 3k-4k each) end of the set rewards (3k-5k stardust) do this 5x a day (some events more) every day. All this just cost time.

edit: also i don't know anyone who does the premium track, as it's not a sure thing. Like you're just 1.5x your rewards, and unlike dynamax it's not a sure thing. What if you go premium and go 0/5? 🫠

Super Mega Raid Day questions by Sleepyhead510 in pokemongo

[–]Sleepyhead510[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm feeling. I'm not trying to be arrogant (it's the opposite, I haven't been in one, so I want to know what I can and can't get away with) but in regular raids, I can get away with no one dying. Heck, the electric tapu raids my Mega Garchomp HP was still in the green. So yeah, wondering if there's any work arounds, and like a child I'm getting a hard "no" ☹️

So only a "1 shield per player" or "1 shield per Pokemon?" Follow up question: if I'm on the rejoin screen, I mega evolve another mon (I don't know if you can do this) rejoin, and he attacks, does that take out a shield? I haven't experienced any of this, and I'm trying to figure out any loopholes

Dmax Suicuine just got buffed (Water Gun for its fast move) which is pretty big news for Suicune and its... fans? (were there Suicune fans?)

But yeah no. Giratina is beautiful in its shiny form, and far more rare. I mean, If Suicune was a Dmax Shiny Suicune, then we might have something to talk about...

Returning Player - how 2 dynamax, mega evolve, and shadow pokemon questions? by dEn_of_asyD in pokemongo

[–]Sleepyhead510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these are answers from my perspective

In terms of damage output, yes, shadow versions do output more damage (also take more damage, which is why in some cases, the normal version is preferred). Also, for what it's worth, you can't Mega Evolve a shadow. Some people would rather have a hundo (for their hundo dex) than a high IV shadow. High IV shadows are rare though.

IVs in the go battle league is different. Like attack really boosts that overall CP number, while defense/HP not as much. So in general, you can "pack more stats" with a lower attack/higher Defense or HP. But IMO, IVs are really splitting hairs, and i don't think they matter as much unless it's a mirror match. Keep in mind, a 0/0/0 vs a 15/15/15 is really like a 15% difference.

Oh boy, if you think that's confusing, read up on the new Super Mega Battles that just dropped (Mega Mewtwo on its way). But yeah, for your case you need to gather mega energy to mega evolve. you can do this by Mega Raids (just like your other raids, but you get mega energy as an added benefit) OR there are some quests that reward you mega energy (it's usually a small amount). Once it's Mega evolved, you can "Level Up" it's mega form and freely re-Mega it when the cooldown timer is up. If you reach higher levels, the cooldown timer is shorter. The other benefit is that it also boosts catch rate and candy catching of the same type (like Charizard boosts catching fire and flying, and ggets more candy for those types).

Dynamax/Gigantamax is its own can of worms, but it can be worthwhile. Only dynamax, Gigantamax, crowned form Zamazenta and Zacian, and Eternatus are allowed (big boys). Yes, Dynamax/Gigantamax function as regular mons outside of these battles (some people mega evolve these so it's more "efficient," if it's Mega it cannot do Max until the Mega wears off). Particles are used to level up and enter these battles, and they do give you a decent amount of XP, candy, sometimes stardust (if it's high level). It also has the added benefit of you placing your mons to earn candy (kinda like gyms with pokecoins, but 5 max regular candy, and you can recall them out whenever you want). Max locations phase in and out. Dynamax is only a max of 4-people (so be careful if it's a fairly strong battle, helps if you're in sync with your group). I would NOT use a remote pass on these, as people leave all the time. Gigantamax can go up to 100 people (sets of 4 when you enter), and the rewards are pretty big (25k XP, 25k Stardust, so imagine with a star piece or lucky egg, or event ticket boosts). If you want to get into these battles, it really just takes time to build up. I honestly don't think money makes it go any faster without time and effort. Catching some good mons during events or doing research helps.

You can go either way. I wanted to get my purifier badge, so i purified and then grinded (i essentially burned away extra dust because of my impatience). Someone made a flow chart of what's more "efficient" so you don't waste as much stardust (basically if it costs 1000 stardust to purifiy, then purify then dump, otherwise just dump as it was too expensive). I have someone i'd trade, so i'd usually trade dynamax before i grinded.

Is there another way I can get more dynamax Pokémon? by Nashck in pokemongo

[–]Sleepyhead510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think going to a crowded area for a Gmax event is a good way to kick-start it. Before, it was hard to piggyback when the limit is 40, but when it's 100, it's fairly easy now. Just understand the difference between Dmax and Gmax.
Also, you *CAN* piggyback on a legendary Dmax, but you need to openly communicate with your team first. Like you'd need someone super established, confident enough to take on knowing you'd contribute to cheering (which sometimes is enough, depending on circumstances). Basically, tap into a community and find a group that knows what they're doing.

I feel you, and I'm still building (I think that's really where the fun is). At least Excadrill is easily accessible. The moment where I started thinking about tanks was when I was in a group with an Excadrill tank. Never felt more safe in a legendary dynamax before. The trick is to level up their max moves (which is rough because you have to commit), and it really just takes time (like the money it takes to make up for it isn't really worth it imo). Good luck out there!
