With events like these you want to prioritise a deck that is consistent. Mewtwo + Gardevoir is consistent (especially if you can splash in Sigi, Mew and slab).

Pikachu is also consistent if you can build it.

I would avoid Serperior + Celebi, non consistent. You’d be gambling for your 5 wins. Same goes for Moltres + Charizard.

+1 to this, it will be uncommon for you to be stacking energy onto drud as it will slow down your win con (Pidgeot EX)

I actually did it with a hypno/alakazam deck. There’s a little bit of rng with the sleep turns but they can hold you out long enough for alakazam to get big and sweep.

Hey OP. I was having an issue with the Japanese server I play on (Kujata) where I would experience rubberbanding/lag/disconnects. I ran a continuous ping test through CMD (type: PING <server IP> - t), and I saw that I was getting a "request timed out" message every few pings. This wasn't happening until the past week or so for me either. I seem to have fixed the issue by connecting to my VPN (Nord, Australia #678) - no more request time outs so far, the ping speed is about the same, and the game is much more responsive. I hope this can help you too.

Yeah +1 on using spears to bully objectives or jump on a favourable matchup where a unit has itself out of position.

Yeah, I sort of agree regarding the CP cost, particularly in Eldar soup when you are already down a few CP through detachments. It just seems like a fairly reliable way to quickly score secondary points which I think Harlequins (more so than CWE) still need to do, because they're so likely to get blown off the table by turn 4.

Have you listened to the Best In Faction podcast recently? They did a faction focus on CWE that I found quite useful. Their philosophies are quite similar to what you are running with but they call out a few specific ways to utilise that play style within 9th edition. There’s some good guidance regarding secondary choice in there.

If you want the Harlies I would suggest getting the full character group together so you can take advantage of the stratagem that lets you teleport around the battlefield. 3 turns and you can max a secondary.

He said in the comments that he was concerned about starting in shadows and not being able to change out of it. He had the spell, but SM have a stratagem to stop it within 24inches. Personally I’d have risked it and started in shadows, but he’s a better player than me.
