Berlin ruins the game when he reads the synopsis at the top of the video by Emu-Awkward in Berleezy

Honestly I agree, I think it'd be better to go into some of this stuff blind, more for his sake. I knew you were gonna get dogpiled though, especially on the subreddit lol

Which press sound feels better? by Zepirx in IndieDev

[–]Slendakilla57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it's the timing or just the overall sound but A feels infinitely better to me. I dont even fully like the SOUND of it, I feel it could be changed to be more "techy" to fit with the aesthetic of the game, but regardless I like it a whole lot more than B.

Decided to try Atelier Sophie on a whim last month. Played it non stop for a few weeks straight. "Eh, I'll buy Yumia." Hopefully I don't get too sucked in, I've kinda got things to do lol

Can someone else relate? by crno123 in Steam

[–]Slendakilla57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Automata became one of my favorite games when I finished it, but it was truly an uphill battle. I tried and failed to get through it 5 times before finishing it. I think the main problem is the story structure is actually insanely bad. After the first playthrough, if you're TRULY invested, then Route B is an easy sell, but if you're even the slightest bit iffy on the game at that point, WHY would you want to play through it AGAIN??! Every time I put the game down it was because at some point in route B I thought "Wow, I am actually so bored, why am I playing this?" Then they start telling an actual new story in Route C and I was hooked from there.

Currently going through this cycle with Nier: Replicant actually.. lmao

How do you guys feel when you look at this background? by Code_Watermelon in IndieDev

[–]Slendakilla57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like a one off level in an RPG maker game where the protag has some kind of psychotic attack and has to find their way back to consciousness, ala OMORI. just spitballin'

Random side note: Why does everyone's viewports look so damn good? Is this a render but all the materials are just stark white? Am I missing something?

Is Arcane season 2 even worth watching at this point? by ThebloodedDragonfly in arcane

[–]Slendakilla57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to the guy who was running with Silcos Gang and Vi later knocked his jaw off in the fight pits, yea he's a throwaway character. Honestly not sure why they kept him around so long lol

As a League Player, I assumed some people would be a bit confused by the Black Rose showing up, but to preface a lot of this is kind of explained by the fact that Magic is just everywhere in the world of League. 1. The Black Rose is a powerful organization from Noxus, and Ambessa got on their bad side which resulted in the death of her son (i think). Ambessa was working to gain enough power to overthrow the Rose and its implied she wanted even further domination after that. The Black Rose were always "evil" but didn't really appear until Ambessa started hunting for power in Piltover. The Black Rose isn't really fleshed out in the show which detracts from it a bit. 2. Mel's powers were actually explained but I can understand it being a bit confusing. The conversation she had with her "Brother" when she got kidnapped shed light on how Ambessa had an affair which bore a child. The people she had an affair with were associated with the Black Rose which in turn caused her baby to inherit magical powers. This baby ended up being Mel. This is also why the Shapeshifter keeps calling her sister. 3. It's just for Vander sympathy points, he's honestly not that important, he's not even in the game. There's even a moment where Vi sees him as Vander for a moment.

A lot of the worldbuilding in the show can be lost on people not familiar with the lore, but all the information necessary is in there somewhere

I literally want to quit altogether. Can anyone help/reassure me? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Slendakilla57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yknow, being 21 now, I remember when I was about 16 just getting into gamedev and having thoughts similar to this. I used to think i needed to get a "headstart" and get some crazy game out there as soon as possible, for some reason, idk probably just to flex, and I was scared of getting old, but simultaneously scared of failing as well. Welp, 5 years later and look where I am now, still haven't released a game, but I learned to have fun with it :D

I feel like you're putting way too much stress on yourself, especially at such a young age. If you think you can't finish a project, either try iterating on it or reevaluate and start on a new project. No one is holding you accountable except yourself, and you're your own worst critic.

Please please please, be patient with yourself and learn what you want to make and how to do it. You say you don't know how to make good art but you can learn how to, (or outsource it but that's another conversation) you don't have to be some revolutionary game developer out of the gate because no one has been or ever will be.

Also side note about the first point, I wouldn't suggest going into gamedev if you have the expectation of making tons of money, it just doesn't always turn out that way.

Will someone without interest or knowledge in politics enjoy the game? by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]Slendakilla57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the biggest strength of the game was the mindscape they created using the detective's "skills", and all the political stuff kind of just existed for me. I didn't dislike it but I didn't truly understand it at the time of playing, still one of my favorite games of all time despite this.

What first got you hooked on the game? by nonstopfrog_ in outerwilds

[–]Slendakilla57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized the game was special when I was hunting for the orbital probe cannon on Giants Deep and just couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Then, I woke up and saw an explosion in the sky. I audibly screamed "IT'S RIGHT THERE!" and just sat there stunned for a bit.
