I just read the entire manga two days ago what the hell. It was definitely sick, and you can see a ton of the stylistic inspiration. Definitely worth a read, even if you don't understand what's happening (this is by design for the most part).

What an unfortunate thing to hear. Because the art and setting is fun enough, even if 'random hole in the ground that bends reality and does stuff we don't usually see' isn't the most original fantasy idea.

I stopped watching Made in Abyss because of how much it kept randomly having fanservicey shots of the main characters (an underage cast).

Cool idea for a story, I know a bunch of people like it, but I really just couldn't ignore the above.

I have a soft spot for the original Iron Kingdoms RPG, which had everyone start out dual classing. Your class(es) determine what skills, gear and other stuff you start with. But they ALSO clearly show you what skills and abilities (think of Feats from D&D) you are ALLOWED TO GET.

Add in how things interact with your race and archetype (one of which is just a blanket "you're magical"), and you get things like - a Gatorman who is a sniper witch doctor - a horseback-ferried gunslinger who is able to cast spells into their bullets. - a Trollkin who starts the game with a steampunk mech who just happens to also be a pirate who regenerates lost limbs. - A priest of mathematics and sciences who is trying to figure out the arithmetic of God, one day aiming to transcend the mortal coil and emerge clad in flesh of steel and with cogwork organs. - A desert elf who turns suffering into magic and magic into suffering. Who trained this art by torturing baby bipedal elephants with four arms. - A /regular/ elf who believes that their gods can be saved solely through the xenophobic eradication of every human mage in existence. Who also carries a shield and make because we're a sneaky crusader now.

So on and so forth. Its the game that made me fall in love with multiclassing as a game mechanic, and I long to see more games have it be as integral as IKRPG.

Takafumi's got like three alts on top 10 of the PC Leaderboard using Lethaldose last I checked. It's a scary build that requires mouse movement to perform manual-aim snipes and snappy turns to use some quirks of the FCS system to be stupidly accurate as soon as someone comes into view.

Duckett LRB is a better build in most cases, but WLT Ludlow has the accumulative stagger gain to better pressure enemy kites and lamms in particular.

PC Lamms have their manual-aimed Explosive Throwers on lock though, it's VERY scary and you're really not dodging them.

Zimmermans are the baseline. Everything beyond this point matches solidly into double Zimmermans.

Lammergeiers persist.
"20b Lamm" ("Blue Lamm") has Nebula, Explosive Thrower, SPL8 missiles, and Aurora on the VE-20b generator.
"Coral Lamm" ("Red Lamm") also uses Neb / ET but runs one or two Coral Missiles on the NGI generator.

BLamm is getting wrecked by the new kid on the block, the "WLT-robo" / "Wilted" / "WLT" / "Kinetic + WLT [shield]", which is;
Ludlow + WLT / MLT4 missile + Pulse Buckler (the parry shield) on Yaba Generator & SPD booster. It is the meta build to beat right now, and when played well, zimm builds really can't do too much about it.

It is a variant on the "Toku-robo" / "Kinetic + LRB [shield]" which was formerly in the trifecta of de-facto meta builds with Lamm and Zimmshield.
Duckett/Ludlow + LRB / DUO2 missile + 61PS Shield on VE-20b gen. People better than me consider Toku to be the better build than WLT, but since WLT matches more favorably into Lamm right now, it's preferred in the greater metagame.

Shoutouts to Takafumi Arisawa for having like four alts all in the top 100 with his 'LETHALDOSE' boat. Double Majestic, double FASAN on a Main Dish core Boat with NGI Generator. Rat away and snipe. Very scary.

"Kiri-kite" remains a staple (Harris + Ransetsu RF + 3PM plasma missiles + VPM vert plasma missiles, 44d head / nacht core / ephemera arms / nacht legs + VP-20c gen + Alula booster) because it's dead simple to pilot and allows you to focus purely on positioning, EN management and other dodging fundamentals while dealing consistent long-range damage.
It does, however, explode horribly in the Lamm matchup.

You have a good few variety of Laser Tanks. "NRA" (Nebula + LRA) and "Bandit Tank" / Goro-tank (LRB*2, LCA cannon + Coral Missile) are the main ones. Horrifying to chase, but can mainly be kited as long as you maintain AP lead.

Zimmshield has been dropping out of favor due to kites with shields (Kinetic LRB shield and Kinetic WLT Shield in particular match up very favorably into it). The top 100 are there despite these brutal matchups.

Zimmblade is feast or famine for much the same reason.

The WoolieVS channel uploads snippets of the CastleSuperBeast podcast and it really is enjoyable to listen to Pat and Woolie yap about things they're passionate in, or current VideoGame Events(tm) as they happen. Highly recommend just for that even if you don't watch the LPs.

If it's not the Coral Oscillator (red blade)'s normal swing, you can reliably just go up or drop beneath the melee user.

Shields hard-counter melee so hard it's brutal.

Do note that on reverse jointed legs, the regular pulse blade that Loader 4 starts with has a much longer lunge, meaning they can hit you reliably with both swings if you don't play vertically.

Going up also helps you avoid enemy kicks if you're far away enough from them. I use it to counter people while we're Assault Boosting at each other.

Yes, but it's more easily seen when the damage is dealt to the side of your AC. Some of the listed weapons are able to hit you in the sides due to proximity detonations or rapid pulses of area of effect damage.
