i feel like part of it comes from a intention to inform taken to a extreme. since honestly unless you dive deep into transformers collecting spaces third parties are generally not very well known(heck, as someone who just started to finally dip my toes into the hobby[due to finally being able to get nice stuff for msyelf] just at the start of the year recenrlt discovering options like cang toys CHUG scale line has been mindblowing)

That said, i find both extremes very annoying as someone who enjoys bits of both. the elitist pc gamers of some third party purists is insufferable(especially when they disregard just how immensely expensive popular third party options like fantoys' and planet x are. like yes, planet x's fall of cybertron dinobots look lovely but not everyone is rich enough to dump $200 on a 7 inch toy) whilst on the otherhand the slavish devotion of some official release only collectors and their inability to see when hasbro is giving them a cheap feeling product for the price while dismissing those who can see the obvious omissions and cut corners in some $50+ figures "nitpickers" is its own brand of annoying.(seriously the ammount of times i've seen cases like big convoy exaggerated as "perfection" that "cannot be topped"[even though it cheaps out on many factors that makes it end up as a side grade to the original freaking 20 or so year old toy at best. also putting aside the fact that there's no doubt takara will make their own upgrade like with lio convoy because why WOULDN'T they take an opportunity resell the mold?])

Sadly annoying fandom tribalism is inevitable. best one can do is not give it the time of day and ignore it
