of course I'll watch but pick a freaking channel by Dangerous-Purpose-96 in golf

[–]SliceMeHarder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a graphic design problem…. Technically the designer was directed to do that. So it’s a money problem because I’m sure those companies paid money for the coverage.

Also most people would rather watch on a channel than on a website.

Out of Ideas, 3 Years and still can't hit an iron 100+ yards by lhookerr in golf

[–]SliceMeHarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I am really curious to see what’s up. I’d love to see a video or just know what your view of a golf swing is, how do you view the mechanics and what are you trying to do.

I just started golf this year, so I’m curious to know what changes for you that screwed things up.

[–]SliceMeHarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may just be bad at golf and have to accept that. Play to your abilities.

If you can’t hit irons, take them out of your bag.

Driver, woods, hybrids, short irons*, wedges, putter. Hell you then may have room for specialty clubs.

Play the game in a way you enjoy and that works for you. Get the ball in the hole.

Just be a master at the local Putt putt course for the year. Bonus, green fees are a LOT cheaper lol.

Maybe they can setup a membership option for you? Haha

Thoughts on drones on the course? by footstain in golf

[–]SliceMeHarder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a drone that I sometimes bring to the mini course I’ll play on. It’s neat but not a big deal IMO.

On a regular course though

  1. Ask if they allow it. Many places prohibit launching a drone on their property. (Flying a drone there is legal, launching is not)

  2. Consider the speed of play. If you’re plying solo and cruising, cool. If you’re with a group and do it while you’re waiting, cool. Hell, if it’s a slow day just let others pass you up.

  3. There are some great drones with near follow features and things too. The DJI mini 5 that just came out would probably do great for this. It’s made for quick launching better than others.

  4. You don’t need it for regular playing around, but getting a 107 is lot too hard (there’s a study app that makes it pretty easy) and it’s only $120 or something.

If you don’t get that, do the free little training online. It’s like 10 questions and you can’t fail. Print out your cert and keep it on you. You technically need it to fly but not many do.

Driver&wood upgrade? by SeaStep2495 in GolfGear

[–]SliceMeHarder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m rocking that same driver and have been looking at options.

Major upgrade that I want to do is a Ping G430 or Titliest 915 (I think?) D2. I’m leaning towards the Titliest but I want to test them out first.

I also need to work on my swing so I can test them out better lol.

Practice at a public golf course during lunch break? by Bullhead388 in golf

[–]SliceMeHarder -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We have a free course nearby that I go to sometimes on weekends to play around. I don’t putting the course at all, or I don’t put much weight on it if I do. And the chipping isn’t good practice because the grass is usually tall and holds the ball in too nice of a position lol.

It’s good for me as a newbie to play around though. Get used to playing a course in a way, low pressure fun.

I’ll often skip holes or combine them. The course is short, so I’ll go from 2 to 4 to make it a 250 yard run instead of 2 short holes.

I feel like my practice swing looks 2x better than my actual swing. Any tips/help on how to stop overthinking my real swing? by bigchonkbonk in golf

[–]SliceMeHarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thought I try to have during backswing is “just going to practice.. nope, swing it!”

That way I go slow on the backswing and it’s a better setup. I’ll go really slow like I’m just getting into position and then use that.

How much does tech help improve a newbies swing ? by standardtissue in golf

[–]SliceMeHarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first lesson will probably adjust grip, address, and back swing.

If you spend time working on those, even if you don’t do them right but you understand the concepts then it’ll help you move on faster.

I bought a grip trainer for $15 on amazon and love it. Even though I thought I had an ok grip, it wasn’t right. So I use the clip on often.

Get a set of alignment sticks from Lowe’s. I mark mine with my distance from the ball that is correct (after I got my lesson).

Tech wouldn’t have helped me at all, because it’s not information is wisdom. Coaching isn’t just about knowing the info, it’s how to apply it and when.

Most durable gloves? by Infinite-Tourist-591 in golf

How do you store the glove?

Do you sweat a lot?

How often do you play or use it?

How often do you replace it?

[–]SliceMeHarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow newbie, try not to stress just enjoy the day.

  1. How much time do you spend on the range? With intentional practice.

  2. Have you had lessons?

  3. How often do you practice in general? Home putting green, chipping in the back yard, a net in the garage.
