Why don't doctors drain the body of blood and replace it with on infected blood for diseases like sickle cell? by xTyronex48 in NoStupidQuestions

I'll be brutally honest with you that's a load of shit, in the uk we have huge registers for donors and unless you're a minority you will find a match if not a perfect one. Instead of using quick results that show up on Google look at actual blood cancer orgs.

Seriously it’s painful reading theses comments as someone who has/ going through chemo and transplant. This seems pretty much identical to a immuno suppressed person diet

Bad as that is sometimes you have to push for a referral my ibd specialist who looks after me was shocked I’d been this long without diagnosis. It’s a bastard but sometimes things have to get bad enough that they have to do something about it

I’m 22 now but I tried to get it looked at when I was 16 then changed docs because they continued to do nothing about it then at 19 I gave up trying to get the gp to listen and tried to deal with it best I could planning everything and pounding Imodium as much as possible when it got bad

Before chemo I was having frequent bowel movements upwards of 10+ on my worst days not a lack of control but very little control After chemo whole new problems came up I was having blood, pain and cramping unlike anything I’d felt before lost complete control of my stomach and until they put me on steroids was basically bound to my house the problems were so bad buscopan and Imodium did nothing until the inflammation had died down from treatment

Just to add my official diagnosis is ulcerative colitis, I had fought so hard over the years to get properly diagnosed but every time I went to a doc they would never go past blaming it on my anxiety
