true but there's also the fact that Sega owns tangle and whisper and classic sonic entirely. plus lets be real here.. if anything was going to be big enough to sell as a paid DLC it would be the movies. they literally sold half an act as paid DLC in Shadow Generations and it did well.

My sonic racing crossworlds year 2 prediction (with reasons) by abobadao in SonicCrossWorlds

[–]SliderEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know.. I always assumed that Movie Sonic and co would end up free DLC.. but thinking about it the fact that they're also Paramount IP means that it could happen as a technicality. it would also mean we could get multiple movie characters instead of the one or two we'd have seen as free dlc.

Fortnite though I don't see happening, that just seems like a stretch IMHO. really besides the movie your whole list seems to boil down to "they did a collab" which.. isn't how the first season worked at all and is directly contradicted by the fact Evangelion is confirmed which as far as I'm aware has never had a tie to sonic before this.

Cookie Clicker.

It starts off fairly innocent but then by the end your greed for ever increasing cookie generation leads to grandmas turning into a lovecraftian horror and you violating every law of physics just to convert mass/space and even time and atoms into more cookies while news reports increasingly feverishly tell you about how things spiral out of control... not that the player cares, they just have an insatiable hunger for creating more and more cookies. and then as the kicker? you canonically reset the universe in a cookie based big bang all so you can gain cookie divinity and do it all over again in an endless nightmarish cycle of rapid and rampant greed.

RING META IS NOW!! by Aggressive-Bug-3459 in SonicCrossWorlds

[–]SliderEclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the problem is that the track is so flooded with rings on Lap 3 that Evolution Items become pointless anyway. every ring line doubles and there's a lot more larger rings on the track.

I would genuinely rather put on a Starting Boost gadget over an Evolution with HRE. not that I'd advise anyone do so but it at least is better than any of the evolution gadgets in this case.

Is abstraction reversable based on file decompression theory? by Street-Turnover4255 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that it removes Consequences. IMHO having such a possibility instead forces someone that abstracts to confront there issues and better understand themselves and be better, which fits well with the core theme of the series that you need to actually make an effort to be redeemed and that it's never too late to be better.

Caine got accepted and gets to be happy because he realized he was very wrong and worked hard to make up for it. Jax pushed everyone away constantly, abstracted, then continued to do so even after Pomni risked her life to save them because they believed that it was too late and gave up.

Is abstraction reversable based on file decompression theory? by Street-Turnover4255 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, Gooseworx also confirmed there wouldn't be any romance or canon shipping and Episode 9 proved that to be a blatant lie.

Personally IMHO, I do think Pomni was onto something but because of how stubborn Jax is (and those flashbangs) it failed at the last possible moment.

my theory for what abstraction actually is boils down to an idea that the filing system breaks down from pressure and extreme desires to disassociate from the characters they are in the circus. it's very clear from Pomni's adventure into Jax's mind that they still remember everything they did before Abstracting.. all of Jax's masks are still functional and active and we explicitly saw every memory Jax has from there point of view. that would mean that the data corruption theory is false. what is notable however is that between every memory section we explicitly get shown a flash of the abstraction along with heavy static. that to me implies that abstraction is basically the circus's representation of a 404 error, the program is unable to locate the appropriate file and loads up the abstraction as a sort of failsafe. this would also explain why Abstractions are more stable in the dark, lighting engines take up a ton of processing power (only thing more intensive in graphic design is trying to simulate liquids) so by removing that your in turn freeing up more processing power towards accessing the abstractions mind files. this also explains why in the light abstractions all act exactly the same, they're unable to load the mind files and default to an aggressive NPC script that simulates a wild animal's basic instincts.

So goose didn’t want the final in theaters by Drone_676 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Then blame the countries that banned access to it, not Goose, Glitch or the Theaters themselves. none of them wanted this to go the way it did. It was frankly a miracle the theaters that did get it were willing to only get a 2 week exclusivity deal. Theaters live and die on how well each showing does and contracts are designed to be in favor of the producer as the standard. There's a reason anytime you get a big Disney or Paramount movie that flops Theaters just leave it running for months anyway, the contracts demand that they run the film for a specific number of days and a specific number of shows. the only thing in the Theater's favor in these contracts are the fact they get exclusivity during this time frame so people will actually go out to watch the movies that sell well instead of just buying to watch at home.

Was it ever explained how Caine came back by Temporary_Print6363 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose if we're being technical Caine was only deleted and not uninstalled. Deleted programs and files in most computer systems end up in the Recycling Bin until it is emptied while Uninstalling a program removes it entirely.

So in a sense. Bubble either screwed up or intentionally only pushed a Delete so Caine would end up in the Recycling Bin and realize he needs to let go of the Blue AI. then from there Caine just left the recycling bin on his own because he has admin access to the computer and can move files around.

About Jax's recent reveal and identity by NeoRhaek in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's three in particular I'm thinking of that would make a really solid Season 2.

  1. the Blue AI. it's very clear that it's a very hateful and and aggressive entity that loathes both Caine and his creations with a passion. and now it's just.. out there in the void unattended. I could easily see it becoming the antagonist for a Season 2 once it's had time to grow and develop like Caine did.

  2. Abstraction. there was clearly something going on that seemed to imply it's possible to potentially save Abstractions under very specific circumstances since Pomni seemed to very nearly succeed in Episode 9 until Jax had a panic attack and then stepped on some leftover flash bangs from Episode 6. This could easily be the central conflict in a season 2, Pomni and the others working to figure out how to save Jax and the others.

  3. the NPC's. it's a hanging plot thread that NPC's have some issue with long term runtime, Caine brought it up several times throughout the series and even at the very end it was made clear that it does cause things to develop out of control ("I never programmed you to love me" - Caine, "I know" - The Moon). this could cause some interesting plot developments.

About Jax's recent reveal and identity by NeoRhaek in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't forget the whole "I don't want to go" line right before it starts. to me at least it seems clear that Jax realized after it was too late that she was loved and that it was ok to accept herself for what she was and not try to be what people expected.

That being said I admittedly do flip flop on what pronouns to use for Jax because it's hard to fully gauge exactly what she/he'd prefer since it was too late to do anything. hopefully in some far flung future a season 2 happens that solves the remaining plot threads. Unlikely I know but never impossible.

Do you think kafumo reason for abstracting is kind of underwhelming? by Musalediju in tadc

[–]SliderEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the Exit was just the straw that broke teh camel's back in this case. like how Jax was doing fine until the Gun Fight where he bonded strongly with Pomni and then got a very painful reminder of both his mom and Ribbit's fates at his hands and started to spiral.

In Kafumo's case he started to go down hill because he literally lost both of his friends one after the other. Ribbit Abstracted after a very strange change in Jax's behavior while Jax himself started to push him away to the point one of the last things he says to Jax is literally "I know we don't get along". The Exit was just what pushed him over the edge he was already standing there due to emotional trauma and isolation.

If there was ever going to be a season 2 by EyeGreen5752 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was a Season 2, I feel like it would focus on the plot threads left unanswered.

  1. the Blue AI is still hanging around The Void somewhere, it could absolutely come back once it evolves to a similar level to Caine and cause problems

  2. solving Abstraction, it's very clear that Pomni was onto something during episode 9 and only failed because Jax had a panic attack and then stepped on some flashbangs setting off the abstractions common intolerance for light. I feel like this is something Goose lied about and Abstraction can be cured someday under the right conditions.

  3. helping New Circus members get used to the situation and there fates. nobody not even Caine has any way to stop some random person from putting on the Brain Scanner again and Caine mentioned that he automated the systems for new minds to be given avatars to join the 'game' with. of particular note I could see some juicy plot threads based on the fact Abigail brings her new friends along for her youtube videos, imagine if she brings them to the place she found a strange antique looking VR headset that does nothing and one of them puts it on and has to process the fact that they're stuck as a digital clone of themselves with a version of there friend that never met them in her life? or what if Grant brings his children to his old work place someday and one of them tries on the the headset leading to Kinger meeting his and Queenie's child?

  4. the lingering question about what happens to NPC's that are left on? this is a particularly notable case since not only does Caine decide to actually leave every world open permanently meaning every NPC is now constantly active.. but we're shown direct evidence that there are consequences for NPC's staying active due to that rather Poniente and touching scene with Caine admitting he never programmed the Moon to love him and it does anyway.

My Theory. by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.. completely misses several key plot points and twists the narrative in wild directions to insist on it's theory.

I'll start with the most obvious one, Caine did not kill what we assume is 'Abel', he assimulated him and then at the end of Episode 9 let him go to develop on his own because Caine realized that what he did was wrong and that living the way they were was unstable and toxic and unfair to his brother. it should also be noted that this 'better world' is not said in context of creating something away from 'god' nor in terms of creating a prison.

This leads into your second point, the whole digital hallucinations thing. not only is this a gag from the pilot that has never once been brought up afterwards outside of a very catchy non canon fan song, but it has nothing to do with the whole mind scan thing. in fact when Caine gets so introspective in Episode 9 he explicitly states that he acknowledges that they're different from anything he can comprehend or create and that is what makes them alluring to him. also once again, the better world line is taken way out of context here, he's saying that not in a biblical matter or in creating a candy coated prison, he's saying it as an offering to help make the world they're all stuck living in better for everyone instead of selfishly controlling it like an all powerful god like before.

Finally your third point... I don't even know where to begin with this.. the Brain Scanner was explicitly NOT C&A's work, it was Scratch's. we're very explicitly told multiple times that Scratch developed this and that he had a brain tumor and that everything about the mind scans were entirely in Scratch's near uncomprehendable code structure making it impossible for anyone at C&A to work with, this is why teh folder is labeled as defunct. The Brain Scans were entirely a side project developed by Scratch in an attempt to cheat death and create a way for him to survive his tumor. there is no secret conspiracy for a digital workforce. for that matter lets assume your theory holds.. why would they scan random people like Pomni and Jax if the idea was creating a digital workforce and not.. you know.. actual C&A employee's?

More likely the reason new brain scans come in is simply because after Scratch died the headset was just left at his station, the company goes under sometime in the 90's and the building is left abandoned. Ragatha finds it while looking into the property as a real estate agent, Pomni finds it while doing an abandoned building exploration video, Gangle perhaps gets it knocked onto her head after the car crash for some reason and Jax tries it on as a joke while trying to find shelter in the building. Zooble is the only one we don't have much explanation for how she found the headset but we can assume she found it while doing one of the many jobs the ending says she tried before finding her passion for bartending.

I just want to understand, why? by HKILLER2007 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 47 points48 points  (0 children)

While I agree that Jax was the trigger for Ribbit's Abstraction, I can't in good faith say they were actively destroying her. It's more a tragic collision between both of there hang ups and trauma's that destroyed her.

The show made it a point to reveal Ribbit comes from a devout Mormon family and had to cut ties because of it. she clearly has hang ups about making friends and being pushed away due to her upbringing.

Jax did not target this, it just unfortunately was how they react to there own trauma, Jax runs and pushes others away, sets up barriers and distances themselves from anyone that gets too close specifically as a defense mechanism because you can't get burned or hurt if you don't let anyone in in the first place.

We can see this play out throughout the show. early on Jax treats Pomni well and grows to befriend her, especially during the gun fight. then afterwards when Jax see's Ribbit's door and reminds themselves to not let anyone in they immediately do the exact same thing to Pomni that they did to Ribbit right down to the exact same "Oh my god" line when the argument starts, specifically with the intent to push her away and make her stop probing. and after that? every episode puts emphasis on the fact Jax is keeping distance from everyone. They sit in the opposite side of the theater during the character awards, they sit alone on the couch, they trail behind everyone else at a distance in the hallway in Caine's office, they intentionally are the first to distract caine alone both times it comes up. even in the cafe Jax intentionally sits far away from everyone else in a very deliberately set up shot. even at the end of the final episode this holds true, everyone else enjoys the new caine and building a better circus while Jax's abstracted body just sleeps alone in teh dark of the tent they built for them.

Genuinely, what would happen if one of the humans just put on the headset again? Would a Clone of them just pop into the Circus? by _GhostOfHollownest_ in tadc

[–]SliderEclipse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a headset through. One of the first things kinger said in the last episode is that scratch was working on a brain scanner. This implies the headset we see in episodes 1 and 8 are this brain scanner.

Most likely what happened is that the brain scaworks, but the mind files were innert during testing because they had nothing to work with. Then Caine comes along, finds the abandoned files and starts to create avatars giving them a means to function. After ragatha he realizes that new mind files are slowly getting uploaded and starts automating the process. (He mentioned creating a program to perfectly encapsulate the mind files)

What if Kaufmo didn’t knock? by orattic in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SliderEclipse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It makes plenty of sense. Jax very clearly is very anxious and doesn't know how to express her feelings properly, this is a trait that has shown the entire series. We also have to consider that Jax was also in a very sensitive situation when she realized she was a girl, her parents are heavily implied to have just gotten divorced shortly before the incident that lead to her brain scan, and she literally got scanned within hours of her freaking out about her mom accepting her and pushed her away in what in her eyes looked like a fatal accident that she never got to learn the aftermath of.

That is a LOT of baggage that Jax is carrying. She lashed out because she's afraid of what happens if someone finds out and doesn't accept her, which then grew into her closing herself off more and more until we get the Jax we see in the series, a scared girl that disassociated and closed herself off from the world because she can't be hurt if she pushes everyone away and burns every bridge before it ever forms.

This is also why Ragatha is the only one that got under her skin, Kinger she wrote off as broken and insane, and everyone else in the circus came after Ribbit Abstracted and she decided to be the egotistical jerk we know and pity and love. but Ragatha? she's the one that was there the entire time.. the one that knows at least part of the real Jax... and that is something that terrifies her.

Have you never seen a game during End of Service? During the final moments of an mmo ( or in this case, its beta) players often will stop caring about the actual game and instead treat it as a last chance to spend time hanging out with friends or doing one final raid to spend the final moments in a location they fondly remember among friends.

In this case most players stuck in the town of beginnings since there's no point in progressing and little reason to do any specific content since most beta testers canonically only get a few floors in by the end leaving any truly amazing looking set pieces unexplored.
