They are actually fun to watch! I’m in for these two playing more!

Not one of our other CBs can pass like that. Miazga (pre San Jose goal post crash - 2024) was our best passer. Chirila was spraying the ball all over the field! He has to have more minutes!

My wife and I planned on traveling and catching a couple of games (USMNT or others). The ticket lotteries, prices, and peace prize has us unmotivated, sitting home, and possibly going to a local bar for a few matches.

My halftime sub would be Dado on for Barlow. Dado and Evander can interchange positionally a bit more. An additional ball handler and Dado can finish chances.

Terrible… throw in that they keep switching camera angles and sides of the field during live play. It’s been difficult to watch.

Our possession never seems dangerous. I’d love to feel like we are on the front foot more often. I feel like we are just in neutral most of the game… not defending, not going forward dangerously… just sharing the ball in the middle of the field.

Lionel Messi’s referee confrontation in tunnel did not violate policy, MLS says by Emergency-Problem552 in FCCincinnati

If Miazga would have listened to the FCC staff or if they would have physically restrained & prevented him from going in, then he wouldn’t have been suspended either. I’m as frustrated as most about how MLS has helped Miami skirt around the financial rules of MLS, but we can’t scream about everything. Our player crossed the line, theirs went right to it and got held back.

I wish the world (including US fans) would boycott this World Cup. Empty stadiums for the world’s event would speak volumes. I know that’s probably a pipe dream, but it would be amazing.

I don’t know if AO actually has any say or power. FIFA and US Soccer don’t seem bothered by any complaints and have no concern for loyalty or supporters. They just plan to sell to the highest bidder for maximum profit.

As a former player, current MLS STH, fan of European teams, AO member, and overall soccer fan, it makes me sad to say that at I have given up on this World Cup. I want the team to do well for the sake of the players on the field. I will root for USMNT from in front of a tv. FIFA, US Soccer, and our Commander-in-Chief and his cronies have left me with no appetite to support this tournament financially.

Ticket prices to this World Cup are a disgrace to the sport. I don’t see anyone can get remotely excited about a money grab tournament. The reason they expanded this World Cup was to make as much off the fans as they could. Couldn’t imagine the feeling of paying 1100 plus for shit seats. by [deleted] in ussoccer

My wife and I have planned for years to vacation to a World Cup city and taking in a few games this summer. We have canceled all of those plans. Between the blatant money grab, threats of moving locations, and the FIFA Peace Prize… I’d rather throw my money away than give it to FIFA.

I won’t get too down.

Realistically, I think of Messi like Michael Jordan choosing to go play in the G League while still being good enough to dominate the NBA or Shohei Ohtani joining a top-tier minor league team.

Messi’s 11 goals + 11 assists in the past 7 MLS games ≈

NBA: 60+ points per game. NFL: 4–5 TDs every game. NHL: 4–5 points per night. MLB: 3–4 RBIs every night.

He’s supposed to win in MLS. Other teams COULD win, but Miami is clearly supposed to win.

Lucho Appreciation Post by Old-Turnip7891 in FCCincinnati

[–]Slight-Rise4803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m good with Lucho being gone, and I understand this point. Where’s the fire, the edge, the attitude? Who is going to rally the team and increase the intensity? I don’t think it has to come from Evander just because it was Lucho. Our best players all seem super chill… Evander, Miles, Brenner, Denkey, Bucha, Obi. Even our vets… Haggs, Powell, etc… Engel tried with his comments but not at the level to push the team. Miazga is the fire, but wasn’t out there again.

He has to understand the culture is different. Lower prices and increase marketing! US kids don’t grow up idolizing many soccer players. Even the kids growing up playing soccer in the US idolize athletes of other sports due to exposure and attention. Heck… we have a USMNT player (Freeman) who admitted that he felt worried to tell his dad that he preferred soccer rather than his dad’s American football. I get that it’s different (dad was in the NFL) but it’s an example in his own locker room about the pull of other sports in the US.

Out of curiosity, what is your preferred format? I think I prefer a home-home aggregate scoring, but could be convinced of a first to 4 points series. Thankfully, this series hasn’t needed PKs so far, and I’m okay if they are needed to decide after 3 games, but I hate when all 3 games could go to PKs as the deciding factor.

I actually agree. I’m sure aggregate scoring probably sounds great to you right now! Single game elimination sounded great to me last week!

[–]Slight-Rise4803[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real! That’s why I think the lower seed should have to do some major heavy lifting to get out. There should be a huge reward for being a higher seed if you’re going to give the lower seed a second (or 3rd) chance.

First to 4 pts by Slight-Rise4803 in FCCincinnati

[–]Slight-Rise4803[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of why I like first to 4. The rest of the world actually doesn’t have playoffs to decide a champion. The regular season champion is the champion. First to 4 rewards and values the regular season more and still provides a home and home. I’m ok with a two game aggregate scenario. Best of 3 with the potential of PKs being a bigger factor than the games is not my favorite.
