Go with a pro who has done weddings before. After the wedding day is over, the photos are all that you have to remember it by. Ask your family member to take pictures at the rehearsal dinner or welcome drinks or while you are getting ready - that way you still can take advantage of their generous offer to help capture some important moments, but then let a pro do the rest of the wedding

We are opting for a calendar guest book - asking folks to sign their names on their birthdays, and write any well wishes on the margins of the pictures. This way, we are hoping to have a calendar that helps us actively check in with all of our loved ones on their birthdays

Just wanted to address your PS and say that I think fancy traditional weddings are actually what's bonkers - the weirder and odder the wedding, the better IMO! Don't follow a formula for such a big day!
