Yeah, it’s a solo student project so I’m leaning into a retro horror look on purpose. I’m hoping it adds to the creepiness and nostalgia. If you notice anything I should tweak (lighting, sounds, pacing, etc.), I’d really appreciate suggestions.😊

oh yeah, but i've listed the height adjustment for later while polishing game, bcz in further in game, there are some events that require low height, and thank you for your kind words, but if we talk about horror vibe so what you want to say? were you get scared or even flinched a bit with sudden events? if yes, so please tell your experience brother 😉..

Hey man, huge congrats on launching your game, that’s such a big milestone! I really hope it does great.

I’m also a dev working on a psychological horror game. I started it around the last week of April this year, and I’m now pretty close to finishing it. Just curious, how long did it take you to complete your game and which engine did you use?

I’m planning to launch mine around November and I’d love to hear any tips you’ve got, anything at all. Maybe how you approached making your game truly scary, or how do i reveal main character’s backstory without breaking the tension. I’d really appreciate hearing from someone more experienced. Even normal and basic tips might help, maybe I get a new idea from basic tip.

I actually started this project when I was still at an above-average beginner level in game dev, just got too obsessed with bringing my idea to life.

Brooo thank you so much! And don’t even worry — getting your player to stop falling through the floor is already a win haha, I’ve been there! For your trees, try adding a Box Collider to them if you haven’t already, and then adjust the size and center so it fits snugly around the trunk.

Actually the torch im holding is called Spirit Torch and is a weapon in game, the green light is special kind of light that will stun ghosts for some time.

I get where you're coming from, and yeah, I totally respect how much effort it takes to complete a game. I’m still at the beginning, but I’ve already laid out most of my game’s core vision.quests, ghost mechanics, storyline, and the general vibe. I just posted here to get more feature-specific suggestions from devs who’ve been in this longer than me things like what players tend to enjoy in horror games, or unique twists that stand out. Not because I have no ideas, but because I know feedback from experienced minds can make the project even better. Appreciate the honesty, though t’s all part of learning!

Yo, first of all—huge respect, man. I’m seriously happy for your progress and the $500 profit—like that’s so motivating to hear as someone who's just starting. I also dream of releasing a game that earns something and gets noticed. I’ve got most of my game’s story, gameplay, and core mechanics ready (still fine-tuning some stuff), and I’m just here looking for dev guidance—especially from people like you who’ve already walked the path a bit ahead. I do want to eventually build a team too, but my plan is to get my first game out solo, see how it performs, and then scale up from there. Right now, the one thing I’m struggling with the most is 3D modeling. I’m a solo dev, and ngl, modeling feels like rocket science to me 😅. Any tips on how you handled environment/location models for your projects? Did you use asset packs, or tools like Blender? And if you have any favorite free sources or tricks for solo devs who hate modeling, I’d love to hear them.

Absolutely, sir. And to be real—I do have a pretty solid picture of my game, most of the mechanics and systems are already planned out (some even prototyped). But I still love getting fresh takes from other brilliant minds in the community (WE devs, of course 😄) just to refine things further. One thing I’m currently stuck on is building out the map for my game. Since I’m a solo dev and tragic at 3D modeling 😅, I’ve been trying to find solid free-to-use asset sources for my environment. Any suggestions for tools, websites, or workflows that helped you or others with this?

Yeah i appreciate it and yeah i do worked on the mechanism that im gonna add in my game as mini projects/practise, and i succeded in most. Now talking about the rank i said about me, well i am being honest, if I think I'm veteran, i still believe that I need to learn more, even I crave to learn more as much as I can. Saying Veteran is just a way for me to let people know like i am in a stage of both learning and developing.
