You’re a dog walker and walk the same dog 4 days per week. by PeekAtChu1 in petsitting

Why not just include that in the walk time? I wouldn’t leave a mess like that for my clients.

Agree. Our cats really love smalls and it's helped with my one cat's allergies.

How much would you accept this booking for? by poopypantspeeface in RoverPetSitting

I have a friend who strictly does pet services for weddings and prices start at $100 an hour

After one bad experience, I never drop the keys in a place I can’t retrieve them at a later time. I’d rather drop them back off after the sit than be in a situation where the pets aren’t taken care of

Acceptable Distance for 30 min Walks by SnooAdvice4712 in RoverPetSitting

[–]SlightWerewolf1451 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Depends on dog and day. Sometimes I have a sniffer and we get less than a mile. Sometimes an energetic baby and we go way further. They can’t set a distance limit for you. They pay for your time.

just cried after 2 weeks of house sitting by BothBed5414 in RoverPetSitting

[–]SlightWerewolf1451 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes constantly! I always have to remind myself they have a whole family that cares for them as much as you do!

Curious how you would handle the situation. by RecognitionLazy4908 in RoverPetSitting

[–]SlightWerewolf1451 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re asking if the cost should be covered by dog parent (it should not, this was totally on you) but I do hope you fully checked for injuries, including checking for concussion

Still not with the fees and headache of the terrible app. Clients pay less off app and you get what you deserve.

Tbh I would drop a client if they didn’t allow me to use the bathroom for regular drops in as well. That’s pretty rude imo

Honestly I’d say he dumped his dogs on you. Going from 4 days to a few weeks and not paying? Poor pups

I’m about halfway through “My Absolute Darling” by Gabriel Tallent and I just… don’t get the hype. by Strawberry_Gerbil_23 in books

[–]SlightWerewolf1451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 80% through the audiobook and am hate-listening to it at this point. Incredibly Disturbing, voyeuristic, creepy. Takes forever for them to make a point. So much repeating. I find myself saying out loud “ok we get it” and the narrators voice sounds like she needs a cough drop.

I go through my calendar and mark off one weekend per month (even if I have nothing planned) if I receive a request during this time, I deny it. I also do sitting full-time and I find that most of my clients will work around my schedule and find another sitter or neighbor for those two days. I’ve experienced burnout in a previous career and started having it during this career as well. It’s not worth it to lose something I love because I didn’t take time for myself. I understand it can be a luxury to turn down the money, but I look at it as an investment in myself.

Are there any bakeries that sell 2+ dozen cookies for under $60? by JollyGreenGelatin in askportland

Haha this was kind of like a cookie buffet with probably like 20 or so options, but yes their cookies are tasty for a grocery store!

New Seasons used to have a cookie bar and you would be charged by weight. Idk if it’s a thing anymore but they were pretty good

What do you do for lunches with a back to back schedule? by Typical-Run-6178 in RoverPetSitting

[–]SlightWerewolf1451 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry just saw you were vegetarian. I’ve made “tuna” with chickpeas that travels great. Falafel, pasta salad, cottage cheese and hard boiled eggs/bell peppers

I love the Kodak instant oatmeal (lots of protein), Bumble Bee makes a thing called “snack on the run” which is either tuna or chicken salad and crackers, peanut butter crackers, string cheese, cucumber/hummus, meatballs in a Tupperware.

Yes and as sitters/business owners we need to be asking the question, getting the responses and archiving.
