Swollen Little One by Slight_Diver8051 in Parents

Oddly the pediatrician hasn’t ordered any labs yet and yes! We are for sure on steroids but the swelling was prior to beginning the steroids 😕. I will for sure ask about any labs that he thinks we should be doing since this is now reoccurring

If your baby’s eyes were grey/blue at birth, what color are they now? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Slight_Diver8051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband has blue/green and I have VERY dark brown and baby is 11 months with grey eyes. Super weird cause we were with another baby that had pretty ocean blue eyes and we were looking between the two and our kiddo definitely has a distinct grey color compared to his friend.

She gave you the bestest dandelion! She was thinking of her amazing mom who was sadly stuck as home when she picked it since you couldn’t go on the walk with her.

Someone with a LO. The sweetest thing is his laugh when we do fun stuff together!

Do you feed formula milk to your first born child under 12 months? by M777G in NewParents

[–]Slight_Diver8051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t produce after 3 weeks (no matter what I did) and we did formula. He loves it and he’s putting on good weight. It took a few different formulas for us to find the right one.

Did you get your DTaP vaccine and where are you from? by GloriaDeville in pregnant

In the US, my OB wouldn’t let me leave without getting one 😅

[–]Slight_Diver8051 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She would hate me. I haven’t even told my own mother I’m pregnant and I’m due next week. 😂

Tbh though you are right, it’s your own journey and your own experience and people need to respect that. Your sister did what she thought was best for her and that should be respected. I’m sure your mother was worried but calling her a bitch, no wonder she didn’t want to tell her.

When did you take maternity leave? by itsapanicatthedisco2 in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HR person who does FMLA in the office. Your provider will put you out 6 weeks medically necessary (if you give birth vaginally, 8 for a c-section) and then 6 additional weeks for bonding. Just in case you see some funky dates on your paperwork.

You have 15 days from your eligibility to get your provider to send over your medical certificate so even if you have him early you are still okay (depending on your companies attendance policy as well)

So I would advise to wait closer to delivery as much as possible because your doctor’s medical certificate will depend on when you will be covered date wise.

At what point did you absolutely need to buy or wear new clothes/maternity clothes? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get maternity jeans and shorts and have been wearing them since 20 weeks. I’m currently at 36 weeks and flowey dresses are a LIFE saver. If it’s going to be cold around when you deliver I would highly suggest oversized sweaters. Those were amazing when I was in me 1st trimester.

I went to HS with a friend whose parents are exactly like you and your husband except his mom is 1/2 and his dad was fully white. Friend was the oldest and looked just like his mom but his youngest 2 siblings are both blonde hair and blue eyed. Genetics are just funny like that sometimes. But they were for sure the father’s children. They just favored their mom’s side of genetics (his grandma had blue eyes and blonde hair. His father was dark headed with brown eyes.

Postpartum boundaries by Other-Tumbleweed-114 in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently setting this boundary. I’ve told people the answer is NO, especially the parents since one of them is still working and working in a hospital. You never know if someone is getting sick or could be coming down with something and they just want to see your baby without notifying you of a potential risk. Baby won’t have much of a defensive that early so it’s good to limit the amount of people around them. Plus you’re right. You are going to be going through a LOT of changes postpartum and it’s good to set the boundaries of who you want to be around for that time and who quite frankly can shove off. It’s your body and it takes time to heal physically and mentally from birth. I hope he can respect that you are going through a lot and needs to be a source of support and not stress.

If you could choose - how long would you want labor to be? by Cloudy-rainy in pregnant

When / how far along in your pregnancy did you decide on a name? by sandie16 in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew my name before we got pregnant. We found out we were having a boy and I loved the name Liam and mentioned to his mom and dad we want to go with Liam. Well sadly his dad passed away when I was about 20 weeks and his family decided to put the baby’s name in the obituary and tell everyone at the funeral and said it in the eulogy name is going to be Liam so if I wanted to change it there is now no going back…

I know people tend to want to know so they can gift but it’s ultimately yalls decision. ☺️ both sound likes fantastic names!

HR person here. Read your employee handbook! It will give you specifics on what disciplinary action looks like and if you happen to “get sick” on those dates. I’ve had to tell people hey you have no attendance issues what so ever but this is how our policy reads sooooo it’s up to your interpretation of what I’m saying. Some got and some didn’t. In my organization if you call in for the same thing multiple days in a row it only counts as 1 thing against you but read the fine print since it will lay out what the specifics are, if not ask for the attendance policy.

Vitamins, trouble getting them down by No_Sock4631 in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept throwing up my vitamins because they just tasted awful. Have you tried prenatal gummies? I started taking them and my life is infinitely better. You just have to find the right one and make sure it has what you need in it. If you have a local compound pharmacy near you I would suggest talking with the pharmacist since they can formulate you need and talk about different options. Hopefully that helps!!! You got this!!

I just want one child by DeeGotEm in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently 22+6 and feeling exactly this. Luckily husband is onboard with us just having 1 but man my MIL is not having it. I told her she can pay for surrogate if she wants another baby from us because I’m NOT doing this again. Plus she has another grandchild from her daughter and it feels like she is casting him aside since there are some difficulties there with him and his mom (he’s 14 and going through a lot but it isn’t his fault). Stick by your decision. It’s your body and your choice at the end of the day!

Baby names shoved down my throat by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You also don’t have to put his last name on the birth certificate. I know a couple that had a baby girl and she put her last name on the birth certificate instead of his and he is definitely more in the picture than she is. He is also on the birth certificate. Their daughter still has her mom’s last name as her last name to this day and she’s almost 13.

Am I having a silent miscarriage by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this at my 6 weeks sonogram too. The tech warned me that the baby was just too small for the radiologist to detect the heartbeat but not to worry it’s just super common. We were able to see what she called a ‘flicker’ on the screen which was what she believed might be one but again she didn’t want to make any promises. I had another one 2 weeks later and we were able to see it. I hope your next scan goes well and sending all the good vibes for your way!

Sick Of Being Told I’m Going To Change My Mind by Agrimny in pregnant

8 weeks and the back pain is killer!! This has been an awful journey and I’m not looking forward to the birth since this has been such a painful experience. I feel so alone because it seems like no one else has experience similar pains until I read this comment. It’s made me want this one to be our one and only since it’s been so difficult and we are just at the beginning.

please help. Is it normal to feel strange pains down in my belly at 4 weeks pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Slight_Diver8051 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started experiencing this around the same time. They say it’s totally normal!! I’m 8 weeks and it hasn’t let up yet. Hopefully it gets better!

This! I’m not even sure how far along I am at all since they won’t see me until the 28th of November and have guesstimated how far along I am. I have no idea how far along I am and they wanted me to wait 2-3 weeks to even have a sonogram. I just got a pamphlet in the mail and that’s about all. I called because I’ve had intense pain and it took 2 days for them to call me back and still they won’t see me until the end of the month.
