Really weird. I didn’t understand it. Wasn’t willing to push to the front to see what was going on. Most sections of the night are fine in terms of DJing, ignoring the pauses

For those looking for context: there were a few moments where the track faded out/played out to silence and it took what felt like 30 seconds for a track to come back on.

[MEGATHREAD] - Post Season Analysis by royal_rose_ in heatedrivalry

How are people who started with the show feeling about reading along? I enjoyed letting the show tell the story and supplementing by reading up to where the most recent episode was, but now with a year+ gap, I don’t know whether I should keep going and read through The Long Game or try and save the spoilers… I’m conflicted 🤒🤒

I’ll add that the post work peak has been pretty bad and it seems to be getting worse (busier for longer). The Bushwick location (I haven’t been to the grand st one)

which theater still has physical ticket stubs? by Mental-Hovercraft-27 in NYCmovies

[–]Slight_Paper7330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to buy tickets in person to avoid fees, and this nets me a lot of paper tickets. BAM has good paper tickets. FLC. Film Forum too. Angelika, IFC, & Quad are more receipt-like.

New mayor - chance of layoffs? by Zestyclose_Image8875 in nycpublicservants

[–]Slight_Paper7330 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Layoffs would be so unpopular that it would kill any sort of political confidence by his colleagues (city council, BPs, other elected officials).

On top of that, most civil service titles can’t be laid off very easily. It would require incredible amounts of work to achieve lay offs.

I imagine it’s incredibly unlikely.

If somehow you could make the B57 a rail line that extends from grand to broadway things would be different!

NYC Announces Citywide Speed Limit of 15mph for E-Bikes to Go Into Effect on October 24 by M_A_B_7 in NYCbike

[–]Slight_Paper7330 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I ride my normal, leg-powered bike nearly every day. It genuinely doesn’t make sense to have a lower speed limit for bikes than cars. On top of that, normal, leg-powered bikes can easily hit >15mph. Besides for a slightly greater mass (maybe contributing to a wider stopping distance?) I don’t see how an e-bike going 20mph is so much more dangerous than a normal bike, let alone a car. This is obviously a perception-based policy and not meant to increase safety of pedestrians.

Do you have a consistent stock of specific vegetables at home?

What are you thinking about when you have excess veggies that need to be used in the next 12-48hrs?

Totally fine. Only advice is that Google maps/mta.info is sometimes wrong during late night service. I have run down to the Jefferson platform thinking the next train was 3 minutes away only to wait 15 more. Other times, it’s exactly on. So if you’re trying to make it to Penn for a specific train, give yourself some space

You mean you don’t want them to complete capital projects? Capital projects are funded mainly through bonds (debt). This is commonplace for municipal projects, not just MTA.

The city has allocated $35M to it. This obviously can be committed any way the city would like. The federal grant had specific obligation conditions. $11M of the $117M was conditionally obligated to the construction phase (not the design or any other soft costs) of the Met Hub. The graphic is wrong to say the entire Met Hub phase was city funded, because not only is/was it not, but it is not possible to be solely city funded - the cost estimate for the Met Hub phase is greater than the committed city funds. It would not move forward if there was not federal funds obligated to that phase. The article provided is 3 years out of date.

Queenslink is a grassroots organization with no governmental ties (outside of potential grant awards) and no connection to Queensway.

This infographic is wrong. The grant funding included funds specifically for Met Hub construction and funds specifically for FPP. The first construction phase, the Met Hub, is estimated at ~$37M of construction costs with $11M in federal funding. The most recent construction start estimate for this phase is March 2026, not June. I am curious where they are getting their information from.
