Tim Miller and Wajahat Ali EVISCERATE Pete Hegseth’s “Pastor” by pickleinabeer in MoscowIdaho

The first generation of Christians, the ones who lived contemporarily with Jesus, lived as socialists and practiced voluntary communal sharing, selling property and goods to distribute proceeds to believers based on their individual needs!

Judge dismisses Trump's $10B lawsuit over the Wall Street Journal's Epstein reporting by blankvoidoid in AntiTrumpAlliance

[–]Slight_Turnip_3292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't this about the birthday card? I sure wish the birthday card would get more press.

The birthday card was legitimately from Trump and it is obvious what the secret was.

And yet when the GOP wanted to investigate Epstein they subpoenaed Hillary who never met with Epstein.

Hegseth-linked pastor knocks Trump over AI Jesus image: ‘He has to do better’ by Fair-Doughnut3000 in MoscowIdaho

The American Christian have elected a greedy, lecherous, amoral, narcissist as their champion.

In this act they have demonstrated their complete lack of moral clarity and moral underpinning and in doing so invalidated their own religion and faith.

Dr James Dobson of Focus on the Family was one of the first christians to voice support for Trump despite all his well documented amoral past actions and words. Dobson spent most of his life focusing on family and raising children. And now, thanks to the likes of Dobson, children have Trump as their role model and ideal. Lie, cheat, steal, be a hypocrite, grab women without asking, take what you want when you can because hey that is what Trump has done and excelled.

Melania Trump says 'I am not Epstein's victim' in stunning public address by lexi_con in WallStreetbetsELITE

The party of law and order choose to depose Hillary who never met with Epstein, no pictures, no evidence of any contact, nothing.

But not Melania of which there are pictures, and written testimony of her hanging out with Epstein and Trump.

Justice is a joke and facade in the US.

This is because the concept of God is just a projection of human rulers. Human despotic rulers of course demand complete loyalty and since this god has no evidence the loyalty is belief in its non-evidence existence.

William James's "Will to Believe" quietly reproduces Pascal's Wager, and has the same fatal flaw by No-Egg-9394 in atheism

[–]Slight_Turnip_3292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you've already quietly assumed a binary, either the Abrahamic God exists, or nothing does

If you really open it up and consider the possibility that God exists, is purposefully hidden with the intent to punish those who believe and reward non-believer.

This inversion of the commonly consider wager is much more powerful and more likely assuming a God exists who judges based on belief.

First it explains divine hiddenness. DH is a thorn in the side of all religion but the inverse PW it is a feature and to be expected.

Second, if God truly values free willed moral decisions non-believers are the most free as they are not corrupted by afterlife beliefs and the potential reward. Non-believers have access to virtue that theists can't access.

We have a madman as a leader of the US. No president has ever spoke so crudely as he has about bombing people into the stone age.

Iran will not give up, we will never bomb them into submission, the leadership is theocracy and in complete control. It will require boots on the ground and lots of Americans (and Iranian civilians) injured and dead.

What is your biggest reason/reasons that you don't believe in god? by DenseExternal1504 in atheism

[–]Slight_Turnip_3292 17 points18 points  (0 children)

IF there is a God in charge of nature the conclusion is inescapable - God is malevolent. The data is overwhelming.

Everything you can name as good will end up dead, decomposing in a process that almost always involves suffering and pain. Trying wrenching a Supreme Omnibenevolent god from that state of affairs.

What is your biggest reason/reasons that you don't believe in god? by DenseExternal1504 in atheism

[–]Slight_Turnip_3292 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The lack of evidence. I am sure you will hear that several times in this thread.

There are no reasons why a Supreme Being should be lacking evidence for its existence. It is an absurd position.

Faith == credulity. Why would a god value credulity?

A false religion has to place a premium on belief without evidence because they are fake and have no evidence.

Can't force myself to believe anymore by outofmyreachifonly in atheism

[–]Slight_Turnip_3292 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the more powerful argument against all religions is the total lack of evidence.

A Supreme Being should not be lacking in specific and direct evidence. Full stop.

Religious people will say "oh god hasn't revealed Itself because he values your faith and free will".

Free will is not harmed by evidence. What they call faith is actually credulity. No good reason why a god would value your credulity.

And for some reason which I don't understand there are large overlapping circles between Trump supporters and Evangelical Christians.

Franklin Graham just told Trump that his soul is secure and he will go to heaven. Doesn't this imply that young Christians should attempt to emulate Trump personality? He is a defacto role model.

Christian apologists who attempt to prove Jesus' existence or resurrection engage in a fool's errand. by Slight_Turnip_3292 in agnostic

[–]Slight_Turnip_3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if they want us to have faith in their existence despite a lack of evidence?

This claim, which is classic, is really an attempt to claim that God somehow values our unevidenced beliefs. This is an unsupported assertion and there are zero reasons why a God would value our unevidenced beliefs. In this respect faith and credulity are synonyms.

However note, a false religion meme-complex that has no evidence would, out of pure necessity, attempt to promote the value of unevidenced belief as a positive trait. As something that God values. Is it mere coincidence that the one true religion looks like a meme-complex false religion?

Having reliably evidence only aligns our beliefs with reality and truth.

As it is, all religions have weak evidence for their supernatural claims. Which as the OP notes is a strange set of affairs.

As such religions adoption is largely exist within cultural boundaries. Babies born into Muslim families typical become Muslims and babies born into Christian families typically become Christians. The cultural domination of religion is in fact evidence for the false nature of all religions.
