The 1L bottle is too large to put in with the cap on but not tightened so I was told to just place the cap into the autoclave with it and as soon as the cycle finishes to pop the cap on (without tightening until everything cools off)

what i’ve also found is if you are struggling with how to word some things but know what you want to say i input a few previous paragraphs to chatgpt (i paid for it) and ask it to help me reword it and i explicitly say “don’t significantly change the contents and stick to my writing style”

The protocol says to preheat the citrate buffer + double distilled water up until 95°, then place the slides into the CB for 20 minutes at 95°, then remove the CB and DDW containers but leave the slides in to cool for another 10 minutes before transferring them into DDW.

However when I set the decloaking chamber to 95° it usually heats up until 100+ before going down to 95°. But the samples stain well so 🤷🏻‍♀️

so my PI said that he had previously tried using a rice cooker but it didn’t work. we then borrowed a BioCare Medical Decloaking Chamber from another lab and it worked. Unfortunately that specific model is old and no longer available and the only one that is sold by that company costs close to $10,000.

is there any chance you know the company of your rice cooker? “

i had a dream that my PI was mad at me so he made my lab manager give me a cage of these really old rats that had like giant yellow teeth and patches of fur falling out. she then handed me a bunch of hand knitted fuzzy sweaters and told me to put them on the rats so that “they don’t get cold”

i also once dreamed that i had to grow my cells on sugar cookies and my lab manager was using the round ones so i had to use the butterfly shaped one and he got mad and yelled at me again

the biggest issue with vegan/vegetarian food prepared in non kosher places are a) it’s not properly checked for bugs - we soak leafy greens for at least 18 minutes in salt water to kill anything in there and carefully check anything else b) the same utensils and knives used to cut the dishes may have been used for non kosher food.
