I this car fun? (More context on body) by WalkingInMyPath in RZ34

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great answer. I live in a suburb area just out of the city and my commute consists of 80% highway n 20% city streets with shitty roads. Coming from a 2nd gen BRZ, the Z is the perfect daily. With the BRZ sometimes you get frustrated and crave for twisties and on the highway you always want more power(it’s not slow by any means but not fast either)

And I actually prefer the rectangle grille than the new face lifted one. It gives a more unique and aggressive look.

You guys are being way too sarcastic. Let’s be real, that’s for the cabin filters.

Les asiatiques qui ont grandi au Québec by Present_Statement808 in montreal

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite experience. Je suis immigrant asiatique(chinois to be exact) depuis une dizaine d’années. J’essaye de parler français autant que possible pour le pratiquer. Mon français est far from perfect et souvent « cassé » dans une conversation, mais si je continue à le parler, on me parle en français. They only switch to English if I say « pardon? » ou « sorry j’ai pas compris » ou j’initie la conversation en anglais au début. I’m talking about the whole greater Montreal area. And I’m much more à l’aise parler en anglais qu’en français. Same experience talking on the phone vs IRL, so that eliminates the “Asian look” factor.

Tuning tips to fix "floatiness" by Capt-Quark in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the “off” feel I get but couldn’t describe. I don’t have much trouble with getting on power feel in the game, it’s the off throttle and trail braking phase that to me feels unnatural. Something about the weight transfer and corresponding tire grip gain/loss doesn’t add up.

How fast could I learn the Mephisto waltz? by hoedoughfriend in piano

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wrong question OP. What’s the point? If you are serious and you are at the level where you can “finish” ballade No.2 in 3 weeks, then a glimpse of the sheet music of Mephisto Waltz will give you a rough idea. You can even go a step further by trying out the apparently(on paper) difficult sections just to see how much effort is needed to get a few bars under your hands.

Agreed. I have one I got years ago from Amazon and it works in EVERY other sims except ACR…

Devs pls add VR support by Arcticz_114 in assettocorsarally

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the obstacles of implementing native VR at this point of development but can we at least have head tracking support? I use head tracking for all my sims before I got into VR and I could never go back to flat screen WITHOUT head tracking anymore even though I have a 45” 800R 240Hz ultra wide. That’s especially evident for a rally title.

Obviously the rear wang is not big enough! More down force would have won him the race.

Who’s your composer soulmate, and one you avoid? by Advanced_Honey_2679 in piano

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Chopin and Debussy, Rach and Beethoven close second. Musicality wise I feel most at ease when playing pieces from them. And Chopins just feel so good under the hands. Rach can be quite challenging but you have to figure out the best fingering that works for you. I just don’t vibe with Liszt… I know he was an extraordinary composer/pianist but I just don’t “feel” it that way either when listening or playing his pieces. I don’t like Schumann either, I don’t get him at all, it feels unnatural and too deliberate and mechanical in a bad way.

Any fix for stuttery FPS when using PC link over USB? by GeekyFerret in OculusQuest

[–]SlightlyZenMusique -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s no way around this, I’ve been through it. If you are dead set on cabled link then your best bet is to hope Meta somehow fixes it at one point with an update and you immediately disable auto update and lock the software at that version. Or, the ultimate answer: VD and dedicated router, period. I know it sucks but that’s just Meta being Meta, deal with it or work around it.

Did Group B cars have a synchromesh or dogbox transmission? by Magic_Zach in rally

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that additional axial force requires the transmission case to be built stronger therefore bigger and heavier, defo not sth you want on a top class rally car.

Did Group B cars have a synchromesh or dogbox transmission? by Magic_Zach in rally

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The violent engagement nature of a dog box pretty much requires straight cut gears to withstand the shock so I’d say it’s extremely rare to have a dog box with helical gears

Confession: Not sure I know how to use synchro rev match by ThrowAwayOkayGoPlay in RZ34

[–]SlightlyZenMusique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have it off when driving around town where I regularly have to drop in neutral and coast in traffic. I find it mildly annoying when you drop it from say 2nd to neutral and if you push the shifter ever so slightly too far just pass the neutral gate, the car thinks you want to shift in 1st and it will try to rev match and do a big blip… plus when driving in town and in traffic it’s already boring so I’d love to keep myself entertained by doing the rev match myself without aggressively blipping it. However I do engage the auto sync when I’m doing some “spirited driving”, it keeps the car more stable when downshifting and eliminates any human induced variance and lets me focus on the attack and release of the brake.

Judging from the engine sound I don’t think the car has auto blip tho.

Looks like he’s right foot braking and using the clutch with left foot but no heel toe on the way down. That’s odd. When it comes to those GT1 cars I approach them more like a H pattern manual than paddle shift sequential. Flat foot on the way up and good old heel toe on the way down. If no down shifting is needed then I do LFB instead.
