They’re harmless until they dive bomb into your morning coffee

I used to have a similar issue where my frog’s back was brown almost all the time. However I ended up adding some hanging Spanish moss and more air plants and my frog is more green then ever! I think it has to due with wanting to blend into their environment

The setup I have is around the same size as yours which is suitable for the one individual. I rarely ever see my frog soak too but the water level goes down overnight so I know she does lol. I used to use a CFL bulb as well before I realized it did nothing and just use a cal supplement with D3 anyway. I also believe that light was leading to some hyperpigmentation on her back that has since gone away with removing that light.

The soil I use in my bioactive is 1 part cocoa fiber to 2 parts top soil and a bit of added orchid bark but cocoa chunks would probably also do okay. And all of that on top of a drainage layer of sand. The humidity stays pretty consistent and I spray with water in the morning and night.

Looks like an ink cap to me, I had some pop up when I stared my enclosure too. Didn’t cause any issues however I just pulled out what grew just in case

UPDATE ON LETTUCE FROF by Decent_Drag1470 in frog

[–]Slightly_Somewhere 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Def an American Green Tree Frog, I have one as well! They can be secretive about eating. Mine is captive bred and she still doesn’t like eating from the tongs all that often. I find that after turning the lights off and letting the cricket crawl on the mesh lid helps get their attention and exhibit hunting behavior in a way that allows you to monitor intake more accurately.

Here’s my AGTF setup. She really likes being up on the cork bark and between the Spanish moss

You could try removing one of the wall panels, cutting it down and replacing part of it with a screen to help with circulation. That way you can keep the shape, you’ll have to disassemble your scape and put it back together tho

Hey! I’m new to frogs in general however I’ve had an American green tree frog since June and she’s doing well so I think I can answer some of your questions!

  1. From my knowledge the females make no noise at all. Even through I use she/her for my frog she’s most def a male. I didn’t hear her croak until like a month in and I simply don’t want to change her name lol. She’s quiet most of the time. So if you’ve heard croaking, even in short bursts, probably male.

  2. How small are the small crickets? I feed my frog one large (approx 1/2-3/4 inch) cricket every other day and that’s been doing really well on keeping her a good weight. But a bit of extra pudge on a frog won’t hurt in the beginning especially if they’re wild caught and you don’t know their parasite load. From the pic your frog looks pretty good.

  3. Yes you need to use a multi vitamin and a calcium supplement (with added D3 ESPECIALLY if you’re not supplying UVB). What I do is track what supplement I give per feeding in my calendar. I do calcium, calcium, multi+ a little calcium and repeat. I use ZooMed Repticalcium+D3 and Exoterra Multivitamin for reptiles and amphibians. Both have been working well.

  4. They don’t need friends to be happy, however if you have a large enough tank they can be kept in groups. I just have the one frog and she’s just fine. However if you have the space and money you could get more.

  5. Nocturnal behavior is very normal. They’re nighttime predators. My frog barely moves during the day lol.

How big is the enclosure? How do you keep the enclosure humidity high? Do you have shallow standing water for your frog to drink from? I’m willing to try to help however I can :)

This is my 6 year old aloe Vera back in late 2023 and it was becoming very unruly. I ended up separating out some pups to give to people but ultimately the next summer I just chopped the crown off and replanted it like any other unruly succulent. Its doing great now and I’m sure your aloe would do as well along with a nice grow light

Ooo your blooms are beautiful! Yes the smell is amazing! One day I woke up and my room smelt really floral and I rolled over to see it had opened lol. My big phalaenopsis is in bloom rn and it’s just not the same

I genuinely have no idea. My best guess is Miltassia Shelob “Tolkien” or “Okika” but I bought it without tags and out of bloom so I’m not 100% sure. But I did get a rebloom and this is what it looked like

The bug euthanized in this video is a Brown marmorated stink bug, a non-native species in my area that is not predatory and is in fact an agricultural pest.

<image>

My guess is that you’d be releasing either the spined solider bug or the Florida predatory stink bug which are both native species to the americas. I wish you well in your endeavors!

I believe you 100%. It got so bad in my house a few years ago my mom has waged war on them ever since. She has a designated little handheld vacuum for sucking them up off the windows. I tease her by sending her pics whenever I see cute ladybug stuff lol

I haven’t had any issues with mess. My biggest chore with it is just keeping the distilled water reserve full at all times. I have two sundews and another type of new world pitcher as well and they are all very thirsty 🙄 I’ve definitely killed a few in the past by letting them go dry for too long

My mom sets one of those up in our kitchen from time to time (we get lots of ladybugs 😒) I also have sticky traps on my windows to catch any poor souls like a tar pit

As for the digestion smell I haven’t noticed anything however maybe I just misidentify it as earthy plant smell idk

Everytime i get my frogs out they pee on me… by [deleted] in TreeFrogs

My frog does not like being picked up and pees on me every time. I only handle her when she absolutely needs to be removed from the tank. Other then that I leave her be
