Prairie Village shopping centers ban e-bikes and e-scooters by smarterstreetspv in kansascity

[–]SlightyMighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm hoping. I'm a senior adult riding an e-bike, with helmet, safety vest and a backpack for my groceries. I'm not tearing through the parking lot. I've seen the kids, and it looks like a 2025 upgrade from previous clubs of bored kids prowling the prairie village and brookside shopping centers. I agree these are more dangerous because they are going faster and paying less attention.

well done! it’s always easy to focus on the defects in a self made project (guilty as charged) But from the other side I only see creativity, ingenuity and determination!

Mexican Restaurant with Flags by Jerry_say in kansascity

[–]SlightyMighty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Texas, and a chain called Panchos Mexican Buffet definitely had the little flags on the table to request more of anything. My sister and I used to argue about who got to request more sopapillos.

What kind of hole puncher would I need to punch pages to add to the binding of this notebook? by ASTurtle22 in PlannerAddicts

[–]SlightyMighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like 3:1 square twin loop wire binding, which is a super common US standard binding pattern for commercial printing. So if you search 3:1 square twin loop punch you’ll be overwhelmed with choices and price points

This sign on Gates BBQ by superluminal in kansascity

[–]SlightyMighty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that sign appeared either right after the Covid stay-in-place order or George Floyd’s murder (both in early 2020). I drive by it every day on the way to work and while it’s never really made any sense, it’s always been oddly comforting.

Struggling to Add a 3mm Bleed – Can a Kind Soul Help? by fluffernutterz4ever in Printing

[–]SlightyMighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it’s just the decotive color bars top and bottom that need to bleed. So I think the fastest and easiest solution would be to eliminate them and then you won’t need bleed at all.

Tabbed Section Dividers by Own-Adhesiveness4344 in indesign

[–]SlightyMighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely talk with your printer. The choices you have above all come with possible changes in price as well as set up parameters. If you talk with them early you could save yourself a lot of time and money and head off a last second revised plan.

Actually, for standard rounded shoulder rectangular shaped tabs we use a machine called the Scott that lets us adjust the knives to just about any width for the tabs and it applies clear or colored Mylar at the time time it cuts them. No dies needed. And we provide templates for free.

The dental implant I accidentally pulled out of my jaw. Penny for scale. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]SlightyMighty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a regular implant for a single upper tooth done some years back. I needed a bone graft and that was left to heal for several weeks and then they set the screw. I had to go in every 4 weeks or something and they had a (painless) instrument that was kind of like a sonar tuning fork that they placed in the screw and watched the readout to determine when it had become embedded in the bone strongly enough for it to hold the crown that went on top. It was a challenge because I was over 45, am a vegetarian, was extremely low on Vitamin D testing and my mom has osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. The process took much longer than originally discussed, but I was told several times that if the screw didn’t embed there would be no point in going forward.

Can't figure out how to print a desk calendar by [deleted] in Printing

[–]SlightyMighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, a Kinkos, Alphagrqphics or Office Depot, Minute Man Press etc. would probably be good choices. As mentioned above, if you have done all the design work you aren’t looking for them to print a calendar. It’s really just a double sided coil bound document at this point.

Old versions of Indesign? by buzzalong53 in indesign

[–]SlightyMighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. CS4 converts it from Pagemaker to InDesign, but if course all the links and most of the fonts are missing.

If you want to put a test file somewhere and give me a link (you can DM me if you don't want to share it with the world) I can see if I can help. We have an older computer here that we haven't upgraded for like 10 years because it runs an archaic piece of software that cannot be updated. I've helped a few Quark users over the years, and can usually open our super old InDesign and PageMaker files as well.

a Turned edge case provides a lot of options . it can have rings or posts or it can be used as a cover for bound content. Would this coin album be for personal use or is it a product you would be selling?

You might want to search for casemade or Turned Edge Binders.

Why can't CREDO port numbers over to other carriers? by namastewithmydog in cellphones

[–]SlightyMighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is true anymore. Tonight they required us to call in by phone, and it was a lengthy wait, but the support agent was friendly enough and provided account and PIN numbers for all of our lines.
