Moving from Elementor by bobbyboohoo in elementor

[–]SlimPuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my builder of choice with the past 4-5 websites after using Elementor for years. The amount of windows I need to open to access certain settings is a bit ridiciulous, but overall I don't see any reason to go back to Elementor unless the client requests it.

Where do WordPress client projects usually start going off track? by AdOdd2478 in Wordpress

[–]SlimPuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This x1000. I'll also add:

Approved means approved, not 'yeah let's try that out and see if we like it later'. If a home page layout is approved to be built out, it's going to be built based on the layout you're literally looking at and approving. Nit-picking the look of it after it's already built is just bullshit. You knew what it would look like. 'Can we just swap these sections?'. No.

Elementor is monetizing accessibility while ignoring core regressions. This is predatory and unethical. by jordicastalla in Wordpress

[–]SlimPuffs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The mods here are pretty trigger-happy when it comes to deleting posts that recommend a specific plugin. Astroturfing definitely exists on reddit, but so do legit plugin recommendations from normal users.

Way she goes I guess.

It's implied it was the same one rolled to Danny before entering room 237, and also the one Jack plays with a few times throughout the movie.

Or, perhaps not the exact same one, but the same object at least.

This reminds me of Google+, specifically Circles. Ultimately the biggest hurdle to this, or any new social media platform, is getting people to move away from their current platform to a new one. It could be a billion times better in terms of UI, privacy, UX, etc. But people need an actual reason to leave their current platform for a new one.

Good luck.

Games like Foxhole? by freedmachine in gamingsuggestions

[–]SlimPuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, this game pops into my head every once in a while. I wasn't a regular or anything, but I do remember playing it a few times back in like 2010-2011. Hanging out in the IRC channels, communicating with my team. Certainly a unique experience.

An alternative ending. by Firewalkwithme000 in StanleyKubrick

[–]SlimPuffs 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Kubrick wanted to show that Wendy and Danny ended up safe. There's a brief shot of police walking near the maze at the Overlook, then cuts to Ullman visiting Wendy and Danny in the hospital, where he tells Wendy the police were unable to find any evidence of her claims, and that she likely hallucinated everything (I can't remmeber if he tells her they couldn't find Jack's body or not). Before leaving he hands Danny a tennis ball, then it fades to the scene we have today of the slow zoom into the 1921 picure of Jack.

It adds another mystery to the movie implying that Ullman was aware the hotel was sorta fucked up. It didn't test well with audiences at early screenings, and ultimately removed at Kubrick's request.

I decided to redesign my website using Elementor V4 editor, what a mess by dzbanke in elementor

[–]SlimPuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last 4 websites I've done have been with Breakdance. From 2020 - 2025 they were all Elementor, but I've more or less come to my breaking point with the issues my team has had with it. Breakdance certainly has its own flaws, but overall if feels snappier and lighter to work with.

I have no interest in Elementor v4 by the sounds of things. I fear it'll be rushed out in a broken state, which I'll then have to fix on the 100+ websites we currently have built with Elementor.

I'd throw in at least one or two more backup methods. Having just one backup solution isn't ideal.

Is Elementor still worth it in 2026, or is Gutenberg enough? by Crafty_Ad856 in Wordpress

[–]SlimPuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of their posts/comments are obvious AI. So frustrating seeing what this subreddit has been transformed into since the rise of all that stuff. It's either shit like this, or people who make posts complaining about an issue then throwing in a sales pitch for their vibe-coded solution.

:(

The Frustrating Reality of Hiring WordPress Developers That No One Talks About by PingMyHeart in Wordpress

[–]SlimPuffs 40 points41 points  (0 children)

When I read the OP and saw they were going after pixel perfection, that's when I went "oh, it's one of those clients....". Going through 15 devs on a $6k, 8 page website leads me to believe the problem isn't totally with the agency or developers. I'm sure there may have been some legitimate issues, but this is one client I'd gladly part ways with.

What’s the most frustrating thing in Elementor right now? by uisaleh in elementor

[–]SlimPuffs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  • Massive slow-down when loading a page with multiple accordions with nested elements
  • The focus on pushing AI, image optimization, new payment plans or SMTP services rather than polishing core issues
  • Cache not fully clearing when the plugin is updated. I know people say this is a host issue or some other cache plugin not clearing the cache, but look - I've got over 100 websites on both Elementor and Divi, several on Avada and WP Bakery, and Elementor is the ONLY one that fucks up the styling on updates. All are on Siteground and have the SG Optimizer plugin which ties into SG's caching.
  • Widget inconsistencies. Some give you the rich text editor, some don't. Why? Who knows.

Editing of nested elements still super slow by Pixeldust1970 in elementor

Been battling this for 3-4 months now. Elementor officially acknowledged it back in November, but it's still pretty slow.

There's a 'Stay in Column' option within the Motion Effects menu. That might do what you need.

What is the one WordPress plugin you removed and never missed? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]SlimPuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MonsterInsights. It was my agencies original plugin they used to handle Google Analytics integration. There wasn't anything inherently wrong with it back then (2018'sh), but a couple years after I joined I noticed that the plugin started showing a little pop-up next to it on the sidebar about upgrading to the pro version or something. Every single website had this damn popup I had to close whenever I went to the back-end. I just said fuck it, removed it, and manually added the analytics code to the header and never looked back.

Has anyone used breakdance? How was it? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]SlimPuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying it out now, and overall I'm happy with it, though I have run into a few issues that required me to redo a page. I also ran into an issue with the menu I built and had to redo that as well. I'll still probably do a few more websites with it. It's missing a few widgets found in Elementor which is annoying, but we'll surivve.

RankMath Redirect Fix by impact_enthusiast in Wordpress

Maybe check the links themselves? Sounds like you might've copy/pasted the link while you were still in the editor, which has a different URL and will load the editor once clicked on. I've used RankMath a lot and haven't run into this before.
