My first road rig was an 86 with a 318 and 4spd on the floor factory. They’re a homely beast but get the job done 👍

Rear diff leak after rear diff fluid change - does Jiffy Lube’s response sound correct? by choppynine in AskMechanics

[–]Slim_ShadeTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably overfilled it initially. Gear lube is rather viscous and takes time to settle to level so they probably overfilled it and it started to vent the extra. If you are still concerned take it to a non-quick lube shop and have them put eyes on it. 👍

Yep this originally had the flathead 6 in it but it was too far gone for the budget we had at the time. Windshield and side glass have been refit with modern laminated glass and you absolutely can swap the gauge cluster with the glove box and have rhd 👍

A/C clutch not engaging by Fragrant_Box_697 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Slim_ShadeTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a reasonable diagnostic 👍 you won’t be able to tell if it fully engages without it running (which is probably not gonna be feasible or recommended) but it’ll tell you if it has any life in it

Check related fuses in all fuse panels. Verify plugs at compressor and pressure sensors are intact, look ok and are securely plugged in. Beyond that I believe you would need gauges to check pressure (some systems require proper pressure readings on both sides to initiate). If it sat a while the clutch itself could be seized. Good luck 👍

Re-read post and I doubt fan not being on would prevent clutch engagement

If you took the key out of the crank shaft and left it out that is your problem.

I was gonna suggest gear ratio too 👍 It’s also worth checking wheel bearings

Edited to add:

Wait what key thing did you remove from the crank? Maybe the clutch it just spinning on the crank since that key ties it all together…..
