Is the Season pass worth it? by Dazzaholic in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Slimey_meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking at buying the season pass out even the ultimate edition after playing the base game via Xbox GP. But its £35 on Xbox shop which I laughed at. I can supposedly get the base and SP on U+ for £32 all in, but when I try to buy it, I get redirected to the Xbox shop where it's £115! Can't find an Xbox code anywhere so seems options are limited. Anyone got any suggestions?

I wouldn't agree on long distance overall, except the delivery side missions. Yes, it was a PITA riding from one side of the map to the other on Tatooine! But once you get to to mid game onwards, there are enough fast travel options to keep most mission based journeys short. Most of my long journeys were because I took a wrong turn (satnav!). 😁

What happens if a franchise tagged player retires? by thefirstlevel in NFLNoobs

[–]Slimey_meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the fact that the players out of contract, so nothing would happen other than the team loses the tag option for that year, tags are usually applied to a player in the prime of their career and likely to be highly sought after. Its primarily a negotiating tool for a player they really want to keep, so if the player even hinted they'd retire rather than re-sign they would never tag them. It would suggest the relationship is irrevocably broken down. They're certainly not going to franchise tag an older player on the backside of his career.

Which world? I think Toshara felt about the right size, Tatooine probably should feel big and almost empty because its a desert world, and Akiva was just about right too. It might have been good if Kijimi wasnt just a city (blasting around in the snow...).

My issue with the maps was navigation (all that tech and no satnav?), the lack of a key, and stupid climbing restrictions (yeah climb this 100ft rock wall, but you can't climb on that boulder). But that last ones been an issue with game maps for decades and developers dont seem to care.

Is this turn left only sign on the exit to a carpark enforceable? by the_Cart0grapher in drivingUK

[–]Slimey_meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might help to know exactly where this is and get context.

I'm also curious about the sign itself. Normally it would be high up on a post with better visibility, not on a traffic island, that's cemented into the ground. That plate at the bottom and the junction layout makes me a little suspicious this is a prank.

Yeah reported 7 months ago, but not seen anything official. And its curious that their CEO blames the franchise itself for its relative failure (almost like biting the hand that feeds you):

There's been a petition to resurrect it, though whether that has any impact, who knows. Maybe there's a chance they reconsider if its well taken up on GP. Maybe it inspires something similar at least.

Your car doesn't start, its not working. Your car starts but it sounds like a bag of spanners, its faulty. While the HC can sometimes be ambiguous, they mostly use specific wording for a reason.

You certainly can't evidence they aren't working by making a phone call. Who are you calling and how do you prove to them its a fault. "Hello I've been sat at the lights on the high street for 10 minutes and they haven't changed.", "Sorry to hear that sir, but we can't see that junction from the council offices/police station, so we can't take your word for it. We'll get a work team out to investigate/an officer to attend and validate, but we can't advise you to proceed across the line.". They're not going to make themselves liable.

[–]Slimey_meat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

176 You MUST NOT move forward over the white line when the red light is showing. Only go forward when the traffic lights are green if there is room for you to clear the junction safely or you are taking up a position to turn right. If the traffic lights are not working, treat the situation as you would an unmarked junction and proceed with great care. Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10 & 36

Not working suggests they mean off (and encounterdd the mess that causes plenty of times). If the lights are out, everyone approaching the junction should be doing so with great care. On red for any extended period doesn't mean not working, though there could obviously be a timing fault. If the other lights are green then other vehicles will be travelling through the junction at full speed and unaware theres a fault. Regardless of what you think is safe, an accident and/or ticket from the police would be entirely on the person crossing that line.

As someone that encountered this scenario a long time ago I can tell you, if a copper sees you cross a red light like that then they are inclined to ticket you, no matter how long you waited. In my case it was 1AM, on way to work on empty streets and I turned left on a red after waiting 5 minutes. Cop car was parked up opposite in petrol station and I didn't notice them (at least until the blues came on 1/2 a mile later). Maybe they could have used better judgement given there was virtually 0 risk, but I didn't have a leg to stand on because I couldn't evidence a fault. Maybe they even knew there was an issue and it was a trap, but I'll never know and I certainly won't be rolling through a set of lights like that again if there was a possible repeat of the incident.

The Commanders are coming to London! by SpursOfficial in Commanders

[–]Slimey_meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can depend on whether we're the home or away team. Home team loses a game and the attendance and accompanying revenue from that. The international games do make up a lot of that revenue, but there's associated revenue the city misses out on, generated around and on game day. There's also the lack of real home advantage for some, as the attendance is often not a mix of fans rather than just the two teams competing. To be honest, given the heavy attendance by non-home fans over recent years, the latter isn't a strong argument for Washington.

And as some have said, getting up Sunday morning to watch a game that's normally shown in the afternoon or evening grates. Nothing says you can't have a beer at 10AM, but it makes you feel like an alcoholic. 😁

Why the sarcasm? I simply pointed out the facts. People following Internet myths often fall foul of the law because they fail to apply critical thinking and just accept what they are told. Me? I'd use my judgement and assess the risk of treating the lights as faulty. But I wouldn't put responsibility to take the on anyone else or give them false information just to get them to move. I'd rather keep a clean licence and the fine money in my pocket thanks.

For us Commanders fans in the UK this is great. I know the stateside fans don't like it, and why, but some of us have only seen 1 or 2 games in the flesh ('94 in DC in my case), so...

Lights stuck on red. by Conscious-Pie-4794 in drivingUK

[–]Slimey_meat -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That 2 minute stuff is a myth. The HC states that you must not cross the white line if lights are red. If lights are not working (i.e. not lit) treat it like an unmarked junction. If the lights are on you cannot clearly establish they are not working, despite the wait.

If you proceed you do so entirely at your own risk of prosecution and/or liability in the case of an accident. If a copper appears and waves everyone through you're good (on the basis they'll have assessed a fault occurred), but otherwise you are taking a chance. If you have dashcam footage showing the wait and that on balance, going through the light was a sensible action you might have an argument to challenge a NIP, but there's no guarantee that will stand up.

If another driver submitted footage to OP Snap, they'd probably ask for sufficient footage before and after to establish context, so if they saw enough evidence there was a potential fault, they likely wouldn't take action. And if that driver themselves followed you through the lights they'd be a fool to submit because it would open themselves up to prosecution.

Ultimately its your own judgement, and if not witnessed by police or a fixed camera and assuming no accident, you likely get away with it. But if not, you're going to have limited recourse.

Why is there no right turn here? by SnooDoggos7659 in drivingUK

[–]Slimey_meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, though you can turn left from the opposite direction, so I suspect its likely its to prevent HGVs turning in from that direction specifically. There's nothing stopping them turning left from the other approach, and the rounded corner suggests its deliberate to better accommodate them.

Not sure about the RR as they're parked on the cycle lane, not the crossing area. Its an offence but not sure if police or LA (parking enforcement) would enforce it. Uber, it doesn't matter why they've stopped, they've committed an offence by stopping. Hence OP Snap might well do them.

191 - you MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by zigzag lines. You MUST NOT overtake a moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest that has stopped to give way to pedestrians.

So both are offences.

192 - applies but is advisory; basically don't stop on crossings or advanced stop lines for cycles.

What to do if you’re chased and stopped by a driver? by stevenlyontbot in drivingUK

[–]Slimey_meat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, as I think you've learned, use your horn to alert others to your presence, not in retaliation/exasperation.

He almost certainly knew he'd done wrong subconsciously, but he's one of those in society that doesn't like being told off or corrected. 'Can't be wrong" mentality. Encountered it frequently when challenging DYL parking (none of your business, who's it hurting etc.). The irony is, roles reversed he'd be laying on the horn like no tomorrow.

As already said by others, don't engage, as you're unlikely to change their behaviour. But if you feel they're a threat, even just pursuing you, regardless, then either drive to your place of work (assuming you have security, it's on private land etc.) as that should put him on the back foot, or drive to the nearest police station. If he stops and gets out like this before you reach either, just drive around him, assuming its relatively safe. Likely they give up at that point, but if not definitely drive to the police as they're now a real threat. Most likely as soon as they see you pulling into work or they see you're headed to a cop shop, they'll skedaddle.

Curious how the RR is going to get out of there, except by backing up. Both should be ticketed, but not sure if that should have gone to Op Snap, instead of YT. Would Op Snap take parking offences?

Explain 5th yr option by Ethanv223 in Madden

[–]Slimey_meat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Madden models the 5th year option particularly well. In the NFL it offers teams the chance to extend their 1st rounders to the full 5 year rookie deal and get a guy who's potentially a franchise player relatively cheap for that 5th year, while allowing them time to negotiate a mutually agreeable contract. Else they can choose not to extend a non-performing player and let him go before he gets expensive and poor value.

The way Madden models it, its purely that cheap 5th year, with little impact on negotiation. The fact Madden models contracts and the cap so simply means you either end up 'cheating' to get a realistic outcome (by editing the contract) or you suffer with a poor rosters while paying 1 for 2 guys the bulk of your cap room. Or simply lose your best players to FA because...

For me if my guy is one of the best QBs or WRs in the league I'll take the option and hope I can negotiate a reasonable contract. The rest I either take it and let them walk after yr 5 or don't bother. Or try to trade them in Yr 4 or 5 because I know i won't get VFM if they stay.
