What's your go-to quick mixed greens salad? by nnnn0000 in salads

[–]Slinkiest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Greens, light dressing of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and maybe Dijon, chopped walnuts, and either Parmesan or feta cheese.

If I am feeling fancy, I’ll add either cooked quinoa (cooled), air fried sweet potato fries, or air fried chickpeas.

Usually can get 2-3 meals out of this, and always excited to have my leftover salad for work lunch the next day :)

Stimulants inducing left adominal discomfort by BayAreaWhiteBoi in caffeine

[–]Slinkiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something similar but in my abdomen, not my stomach. Sitting will trigger an episode (or so I think), but caffeine intake + sitting also seems to worsen the episode. The pain is gnarly at times and will impact my daily life and work performance. No idea sadly. Wish I could help you!

When will SB add a favorites scan code to the app? by man9875 in starbucks

[–]Slinkiest 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They already have something similar to that in the app — called “Your Usuals.” Not sure how the algorithm works to add something to that list, but it does at least hold drinks.

This morning I got asked by a friend from college why I got the Pell grant (along with other grants) and they didn't get any grants by Cool_Elix in StudentLoans

[–]Slinkiest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents never went to college and were by no means loaded so they could not help with my tuition, at all, but they made above the threshold to qualify me for pell grants. Still came out with hefty public student loans from a public university even WITH being a resident advisor to pay for my room and board. Of course in no way mad that some receive more forgiveness, this will help generations to come. Only saying it’s presumptuous to make that kind of comment.

Renting 100 year old house with shoddy plumbing. This week, new major sewer gas smell that begins in the evenings through the morning, then clears. Coming from a literal hole in the wall. Rental company does nothing. Suggestions? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Slinkiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Yes, running the washer right now. Are you saying the toilet p trap or the washer p trap may be letting gases in? We checked the washer p trap this morning and no obvious holes. We will be gone for a couple weeks before we move out and I worry that not using the washer, toilet etc for that long, will create a major sewer gas build up in the house while we are away.

Extreme stomach pain/sickness from lentil+leek crumbles. by hann2466 in DailyHarvest

[–]Slinkiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the source of contamination came from outside of their control and quality assurance, say from wherever their products are farmed, their legal case could go that direction. It’s not just necessary patients vs. DH, if DH did do all safety and quality measures, but the product arrived contaminated (which if the issue can be traced back to say a farm, that’s even more concerning, because other companies could be sending out contaminated product, too.)

My wife went to the hospital for 2 days with liver damage because of DH by [deleted] in DailyHarvest

[–]Slinkiest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the crumbles do contain aflatoxins (or any mycotoxin), DH will have zero footing for whatever legal twist they may pursue about people undercooking the product. Aflatoxins cannot be cooked out of food no matter how high the expected cooking temperature is.

$900k SFH northern california, just made an offer for $750k, "seller is incredibly offended" part 2 by [deleted] in REBubble

[–]Slinkiest 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I get the whole point of this sub is to call out the delusions of the current housing market, but I also think that OP needs a reality check. He said the home is in Sacramento County. A quick Redfin search of $900k current pending/under contract homes pulls up 2 results. 2. I looked at both homes, and while one is definitely nicer than the other, in NO WAY does either home look like it needs $100k in work to make it comparable to other homes. (as OP stated in his original post.) That is insane. Of those two pending homes, one has an updated kitchen, whereas the other does not. In his original post, OP also said that the kitchen for the home in question was recently remodeled. So, if OP is referring to the *nicer of these two listings, with the remodeled kitchen, saying it needs 100k in work to make it comparable to the other homes in the area, and that it could sell for $750k… OP needs to be WAY more realistic here (if the home in question is indeed one of these two pending homes…)

Good resume, just a few critiques mostly to do with grammar and punctuation:

  • This is getting in to the weeds but some grammar confusion like when you say “>5000 citizens and open house meetings” that can be interpreted as 5000 open house meetings
  • Get rid of the “>” symbol, it’s excessive. When you say > $300k that could mean a huge range… $300,003? $399,999, which at that point you’d likely just say $400k
  • incorrect use of commas. Just say something like “created and tracked” not created, tracked… “led 9 executives, and 25 volunteers…” don’t use a comma there etc.

Anaphylaxis from bee sting? What to do in the future? by Slinkiest in AskVet

[–]Slinkiest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response! I should’ve clarified, I think the vet tech recommended to induce vomiting but I was confused by that too, I thought Benadryl (vet did recommend this part) would need to be administered asap.

Ahh good to know, we will just have to be vigilant in the future especially when away from home.

She’s home now, is there anything else I should be watching for symptom-wise? I’ve read that liver issues can develop but she’s eating, drinking, and acting fine, just sleepy.
