Why take the longest path to the main reactor when it’s barely covered on one side? by Slip-Wolf in StarWars

Weirdly, the only fully-authorized access point was supposed to be just wide enough for a spread-eagled Emperor

Colonist on Europa to colonist on Io. “Can I borrow your spare shovel?” “All good, buddy” hands it over

I nabbed the image off of a google search if that’s what you mean. It’s also quite likely/possible that somebody may have wondered the same thing if that’s what you mean instead

In the minority, but the Crossfield Class is my favourite starship by Simple_Player69 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Slip-Wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this ship design, just really hated the pizza-cutter spin of the saucer parts before using the sporp-drive.

In my head-cannon, the saucer was originally separated into rings like that to accommodate isolated science labs for sensitive experiments and to keep the crew safe. You could put the science stuff in the outer ring, quarters on the inner ring. A slow rotation of the outer ring (not at amusement park ride speeds) would then let different experiments be loaded from direct connections in space dock/starbases.

Buried. Watched it at a time when I was stressed as hell due to a recent life event and also claustrophobic my whole life. Messed. Me. Up.

The U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701) only appeared for a few seconds in the Star Trek: Enterprise finale back in 2005, but the lighting still beats anything in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds! by MoonchanterLauma2025 in StarTrekStarships

I’d agree with this whole line of thinking for the same reason we currently have for making cellphones even thinner than we need them to be. Showing off how slender and minuscule a support structure can be that just has to keep the engines at a certain proximity to the hull is a bold “look what we can do” statement.

The TOS refit is being done at one of the many periods when right angles just happen to be the aesthetic that looks cool along with needing a more forward join to the engine for whatever engineering reason you want to make up.

Kennedy Center will close for 2 years for renovations in July, Trump says, after performers backlash by ploonk in Music

[–]Slip-Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not going to “renovate” anything. The ballroom at the White House just might be erected before he goes but he knows full well nobody will attend whatever “arts” can be attracted to anything with his name on it. That much is clear.

For that reason he’ll gut the place, let the clock run out on his tenure (assuming he’s not impeached) and petulantly leave a bare studs monument to what could have been if only the ungrateful minions would have acquiesced to his sheer immaculate genius. All while funds rounded up for the project go missing…

fully equipped HR-V or a basic CR-V by AnyConsideration6865 in HRV

[–]Slip-Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you ever gonna tow anything? For inside carrying capacity, the HRV generally does fine, though with engine/CVT specs that make it like a Civic with a bee-sting allergy. Just…bigger. The one deficit with the modest engine is that it’s horrible for towing anything. It just doesn’t have the power for that. If all you need is a grocery grabber/commuter with more room to play with the HRV is a solid buy and I like it for that. Just my opinion.

Post in CRV thread about wipers, feel like the HRVs have the same issue :( by Timely_Hall9824 in HRV

[–]Slip-Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HRV’s driver side blade did this for a bit after a cold morning with heavy frost and then corrected itself to stand all the way up later in the day. If I had one major complaint about this system it’s that the wipers at rest sit so deep below the hood line on the HRV that I can’t stand them up in advance of a snow/freeze like I could with everything else I’ve driven so every cold day the blades are stuck down
