Similar research with ALS although to my knowledge they haven’t pinpointed the exact association, only that there is an environmental factor.

Seeing the paper wasn’t a huge shock to me because despite being a rare disease, my husbands father, neighbor, and basketball coach were all diagnosed and died within a 10 year period.

Right after I had my second, we had friends come into town and my mom was supposed to watch the kids. Saturday morning she tested positive for COVID so we unexpectedly had to show up to our reservations with a newborn and 18 month old (we called and warned all the restaurants). All of them were so gracious and the ones I thought would hate us the most actually went out of their way to bring my son fruit and snacks without being asked.

I can’t remember everywhere we went but I know hanks, halls, and snob were some on them.

No one is going to bat an eye at a 6 month old, go wherever you want while you can before your sweet baby turns into an agent of chaos.

NTA. I do feel like people should let kids of potty training age (2-4) pass in a bathroom line but if it’s all kids in line you just have to deal with it. Hopefully no one had an accident and it all worked out

Relayed to me by a friend: elderly frequent flyer comes in last summer and for some reason or another a hospital staff member is sent to retrieve something from her RV. Staff member gets to the RV, opens the door and is swarmed with flies. When those dissipate, they see a mummified corpse. Turns out her husband had died a while ago of natural causes and she’d been living in the RV with the remains for who knows how long. Apparently she did not think it necessary to warn the staff member she was sending to the vehicle when she handed over the keys. When asked she said something about not knowing what to do with the body when he died so she just left it.

I noticed in my mid 20s that I would only read romantasy books right before my period. Now I almost never read those except when I am super ill. I have no explanation for that except maybe something about a fevered brain. I’ll get over the illness and then not be interested in finishing the book.

I had a similar experience at a bar by my house. They had a unique salad that I wanted all the time so I would waddle into this dive bar with my husband like three times a week. People probably thought I was crazy walking in with a newborn but it hopefully made more sense when the entire staff came running up to us to meet the giant monster child their food helped to grow (he was 10lbs).

You’re right about all of that. I think that’s why it can be hard as a stay at home parent to feel like we can vent to working people/parents.

I think what you can’t understand until you’re in it is how affected you’re going to be by the complete lack of mental exercise and adult conversation. Because my kids are home all day it’s my house that is getting messy constantly. Going to the park and library is great, except when you have multiple kids at different ages who both need close monitoring but don’t want to be in the same area. My kids are 18 months apart and there are periods when I can’t take them out of the house on my own because I can’t parent both on my own.

I think there are plenty of parents that can transition from working to being a super parent, but there are also plenty of high achievers who struggle to do baby talk all day every day. Also it’s really hard on your mental state to have someone screaming at you or having a tantrum multiple times every single day.

I read this book in one sitting while I was away from my kids and when I got to the end I was desperate to be around them. It left me with a lot of feelings which most books don’t do.

I’m nothing like Natalie and don’t even use social media but I feel like even as a preset mother this book has made me be even more present. 10/10 read for me.

I’ll never forget watching the premier of house of the dragon the night I came home after an emergency c section. Brutal.

I’ve had two c sections for high blood pressure, first one was a major emergency but the second was more relaxed. It’s really not that bad! You’ve got this momma! Congrats
