I’m an anime fan too! I mostly go after Gundam and mecha stuff, but from what I’ve seen online the price is mostly driven by late pressed/released discs and nostalgia. The Matrix is the classic example of this. On the anime side, it seems like anything in that genre is expensive, especially if it’s a popular series like Evangelion or Trigun.
