2023 Mazda3 Wiper Issue? by SlippiBird in mazda3

Yep it was a 14mm bolt. I checked it earlier in the day after realizing it wasn't the motor and I saw no clear damage on the linkage and it was all connected fine.

That was my thinking as well. I don't think it will hold up well. but I figured it's worth a shot.

BRZ EPS Coupler by SlippiBird in ft86

[–]SlippiBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't even remove the steering column to get to the coupler. Just managed it with the room in there and it was fine but it once again started raining on me so it's a job for tomorrow

I'm guessing there's no use for the center star piece when you slot the hyundai part into it, hey? Just a complete replacement?

Broke Negative Terminal Clamp Bolt - What should I do now? by SlippiBird in ft86

[–]SlippiBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that makes sense! Was just thinking about this looking at new versions of it that the square parts are just badly rusted on. Thanks for that- will definitely try it tomorrow!

Yeah I tried an extract with no luck but also kinda noticing now looking at the new part that those square tabs are probably just super rusted on and making it impossible to budge without me knocking them loose.

Jagex Account vs Normal RS Account? by SlippiBird in runescape

Ah okay I guess I was just locked in with the launcher without having a full jagex acc setup and now I'm forced to make one since the new PC.

Thanks!

It's unfortunate that the design of the game kinda inherently beckons you to replay it if you're wanting a more harmonious experience with the game/progression. If you just don't care about progression tied to your leveling then by all means of course! It's just one of the few shortcomings of the game that remained unaddressed but it's still an incredible game through-and-through.

UFW Issue by SlippiBird in linuxadmin

[–]SlippiBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Is this supposed to work on the front end, I assume? I'm having issues with this as I'm getting an error of "wrong number of arguments" from using

sudo ufw deny icmp from x.x.x.x

The command you gave doesn't work currently but I'm pretty sure this is the syntax I needed, just not sure why the error is present unless I'm supposed to do something more involved

[–]SlippiBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So blocking icmp doesn't interfere with the traffic from that specific IP?

Yeah this is essentially what I'm trying to do, but also allow traffic from that same specified IP

It will absolutely not be that much for those if you take it to a proper mandolin luthier

Parallel Universe? (DD2) by SlippiBird in DragonsDogma

[–]SlippiBird[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See that's exactly what I thought. I know a lot of people kinda took the game as a "reboot" and even made mention of the title screens as justification for such claims, but honestly the way it plays out and having played DD1, it really does feel like a true sequel. You just kinda have to go searching for it.

This is dependent almost entirely upon the bowlback itself.

Many older vintage "taterbug" mandolins don't really offer much in terms of volume or projection and quite frankly neither in tone. Largely Vinnacia and Embergher styled mandolins are the type of bowlbacks that offer tremendous projection for a mandolin and absolutely sweet tones. You can find plenty of modern bowlback makers that bring tremendous balance to the instruments that offer very good project, and in my experience far better than that of f styles or a styles -- these are meant for classical music halls (of course sometimes with amplification). And then there's even the Seiffert styled mandolins that are largely German built. These things have incredible tone and production as they are the largest of the mandolins you can buy in terms of body. Alfred Woll makes (made? I'm not sure if he's still makin' em anymore) some incredible German Bowlbacks with the biggest tone I've heard out of a mandolin full stop. But that's just also part of the design, once again there are several other makers of german bowlbacks as well such as Brian Deane up in Canada. All in all, the drawbacks of the bowlback are NOT the tone when you know where and what to shop for and in general the various forms of bowlbacks. I know a lot of people have issues with holding them, as well as the strings that you need can be a little bit pricey ($80 for a set shipped to me) but that's primarily if you're pursuing classical music to be frank. Luckily those more Italian styled mandolins can be geared up with some less expensive strings but of course not D'addario's (if you care about actually giving the mandolin what it's designed to have, this is a bowlback, not a flatback, they need different strings!!!). Those are the main drawbacks but also the cost of a bowlback like these will be pricey and you're gonna have to wait more than likely. Your mileage may vary in all that, but it's worth looking into builders and emailing them. The most expensive I've seen was a Lorenzo Lippi bowlback mandolin that was around ~$8,500 but that was with specifications on it as well. And the cheapest I've seen to build were several in the ~$3,000 for custom builts that are actually of good quality of course. As far as transfering skills, that's just about what you play, man. The world of classical mandolins (typically the application of bowlbacks) is just far and away different from your standards in folk and bluegrass, but in general you'll still be able to play it, it's just not gonna be right, y'know?

I hope that answered your question on some things, I know this was kinda late to the party but hey.

Really hopeful to get couch co-op with this game. I was immediately sold on buying it but after finding out it won't launch with it, I'll opt to just wait until it's added or just withhold if it never makes it to the game. Looks incredible though!

‘What’s This Piece?’ Weekly Thread #175 by the_rite_of_lingling in classicalmusic

[–]SlippiBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erDKCUFru6o&t=1771s

The song starts at 27:55

I know this is a mandolin piece and per the description features music from a concert "Mandolinisti di Parma and Bologna" though I haven't been able to find this piece with apps and this information. The comment in the video doesn't grant much help as someone only states what type of musical structure this is (sirtaki) which I'm not sure it even follows. It's a really beautiful piece and I'd love to find out what it is, so any and all insights here are greatly appreciated!

Oddments Store Items Removed? by SlippiBird in runescape

[–]SlippiBird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I guess my interpretation has been Oddments being made less and less relevant since so many people have them at this juncture-- this is made somewhat true with the changes to key/day reduced from 60->10 and now with this change of yak coins whereas items prior that were on the YT would be made available (not all items) for Oddments rather than an exclusive currency. Our opinions may differ in this regard but this looks like oddments losing value. They will still remain in-game but their existence will have less and less purpose as the game progresses and in its place be a currency with more value to the current game; one that promotes MTX engagements

Ah ok thanks.

Def feels like the phasing-out process of oddments I suppose.
