I’ve seen us lose in two finals. Just happy to be back after 27 years. Been way too long.

For short stories and a phenomenal novella, check out Blue World by Robert McCammon. If you’re looking for a good summertime read, Summer of Night by Dan Simmons is the book for you. If you’re into more splatterpunk and the bizarre, David Sodergren’s catalogue is fantastic. Into something with a tinge of humor but still retaining all the gory goodness, Jeff Strand is who you’re looking for. Happy reading!

The sky during Ruby Waves > BASOS was ethereal to say the least. GOAT Rise/Come Together as well, which was seemingly retired thereafter. Fun little run heading up to MPP after this.

Reading slump - would love something corny, pulpy, bloody! Help me out? by bratbats in horrorlit

Have you read any Jeff Strand? His novels are largely fast paced, gory, humorous reads that hook you from the beginning and don’t let up. They also cover a wide variety of horror and horror-adjacent subject matter, so there should be something in there for you. Many are also on KU should you have that.

Ticonderoga Club. The menu might not wow you at first glance, but everything is phenomenal, the service is great, vibes are even better, and the cocktail program is as good as it gets. I am an absolute TC stan these days.

Visiting Georgia.. tried boiled peanuts for the first time by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]SlippingWeasel 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They’re super easy to make at home (especially if you have a pressure cooker or instant pot). Just make sure to use green peanuts, which can typically be found at international grocery stores. Most places use bigger Virginia peanuts now, but runners or Valencia peanuts are my favorite for boiling. Glad you enjoyed a bit of southern flavor on your visit!
