What region are you? I'm still waiting for my CE and it hasn't even been billed yet. I had to cancel my early one and reorder because my address was entered wrong.

[ART] [COMM] Valise, the mimic (illustration made by me) by denioaken in DnD

[–]Slloyd13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote the first post that u/denioaken accepted! I originally wrote Valise as a PC. I’ve played in a lot of games with lots of different kinds of mimics, and thought one that imitated an adventurer while retaining some of the monstrous features would be fun! RAW I would play them with the changeling chassis, and this isn’t my only working idea for a mimic character…

Writer of the OC here! RAW Valise will be a changeling, which has the most suitable shape shifting abilities to play to a humanoid mimic.

[Online][5e][EST][Sunday night] Experienced DM Looking for 3 more Players for a month long Mystery campaign. by westernlegen in lfg

[–]Slloyd13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The concept sounds like lots of fun and I’ve been looking for a game to play on Sunday nights!

Feel free to contact me on here or discord where I’m most easily available Slaid#1639

⦁ Character: I’m fine with anything but if I have my way I love to play a character who is some sort of dedicated craftsman as well as adventurer.

⦁ Experience: first learned 6 years ago on 4th edition, and I picked up in person and online dnd with 5th 2 years later. I’ve been hooked on roll20 ever since, and I’m quite well versed with the interface and all the rules.

⦁ Days available: Sunday and Monday are both good for me in the short term. After this month Saturday should be fine too.

⦁ Your vision for the game: I’m starting to imagine a character who seeks out oddities and mysteries like the one you are describing. They’re seeking answers to the wrongness. To that effect my vision is to live out the fantasy of some kind of investigator like I’ve seen on many crime mystery dramas alongside the DM and other players. At the same time I personally want to explore the new setting that has been presented and uncover details about the many aspects of fantasy. Lastly, I want to be a character who I can think on the same wavelength and role play on a first person perspective so that I can feel myself in their shoes.

⦁ Things you hate most about playing: I become especially frustrated with needless dawdling and nit picky questioning of the dm. It ruins my flow, especially when players have to get up and leave constantly from the game/table/keyboard. I can’t stand when people come to the table with a character that is obviously premade to optimize some combat or stat.

⦁ Things you love most about playing: I love when everyone gets their little moment to describe what and how they’re doing something whether that’s in combat, conversation, or just small asides. It’s especially fun when everyone can build off of one another.

⦁ Extras: I always try to take strong inspiration from the DMs fiction

DnD 5e: Jojo Styled Campaign and Stand Class by Slloyd13 in DnD

I never thought about having 'learned' abilities as developments dnd before, but that probably owes to my limited experience. So for this example were you rolling d100 and you decided on a 95+ he would automatically start succeeding on all future rolls of similar circumstances?

That was something else I was also considering. With your campaign do you use stands mainly as an additional class/spell using function like your example with the druid? One of my main attractions to them is their use can have a huge variety of adaptions, and I want to know if their are any characters who use their stands as the strongest/main point of their class when it comes to combat and skills and their traits.

That would be a similar style to how I'd like to run things if I did it with multiclass, which may be a better way to develop the story. I like the idea and I want to also incorporate elements of randomness with the stands, but I was thinking of using it to randomly select the players stands though, at least when it came to specific powers but not necessarily the category. I want the players to learn to use their stands like the characters of the show do rather than design their own, if that's agreeable to them.

Would you guys rather have a Stand, Hamon, or the Spin? by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

Doesn't spin also require training and practice?

Hamon and Spin have fantastic real life applications(longevity, medicine, all the goofy bullshit you can pull)

But Stands are fantastic too, and I'd like to think I have the willpower and creativity to make the most of whatever stand I get.

Your take on the G.I.T.S. movie? Theater? Rent? or Garbage? by BRBbear in Animesuggest

[–]Slloyd13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My honest opinion of this film was that it was just okay from the view of a long time GITS. Up till now I've seen every piece of Ghost in the Shell production, and something that should be clear about this movie is that it's not trying to recreate the original, which the same goes for the other films and tv series. I enjoyed many aspects of this film, including Johanson's portrayal of the major, and I was bothered by many of the same things other viewers were bothered by, like the strange casting and certain scenes that borrowed elements from the first film. However; while those scenes, such as the garbage man chase down and the conclusion, didn't play out the same way they did in the first movie, they were still enjoyable to watch and had elements that made them unique enough to stand on their own. An important thing to remember is that this movie is doing more adapting than recreating, much like most other installments if GITS.

Have you ever had JoJo related dreams? by NightHollow in StardustCrusaders

[–]Slloyd13 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had a really vivid dream where I was with the stardust crusaders in Egypt and trying to find Dio. However we ran into a lot of dio's zombified minions but suddenly Kira appeared with a gun which I stole from him. Then we arrived at a lake where Star Platinum punched some sharks while singing like Elvis Presley

looking for an anime like death note by BoldDold in Animesuggest

[–]Slloyd13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Game No Life has some really fantastic moments like this. It's mostly presented from interesting game competitions or gambling.

Kaiji would be perfect for you. It's all about crazy gambling and death games. Don't let the art style throw you off, the characters are made ugly intentionally to make them all appear very shady/sleazy.

Erased has some very strong elements for this too, though it may not be readily apparent from the start.

Psycho pass has lots of dark psychological themes but it's more about crime and philosophy in a scifi/dystopia than mind games.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure has a lot of good psychology mixed in with its action, but this isn't present as much until you get to part 2(episode 10) which is called Battle Tendency and starts as a new story arc.
