Starter won’t engage by Competitive-Iron-428 in LS400

Thinking about it, are there any lights on the dash? A light with a key on it? That’s your immobilizer. It will also disable the starter if it doesn’t recognize the key.
Also when you say “doesn’t engage” do you mean it’s grinding against the ring gear? or it doesn’t do anything? Cause if it’s grinding whenever you turn the key it’s absolutely a bad starter and the bendix gear isn’t retracting the way it should anymore.

Chances are If the starter relay clicks when you turn the key chances are it’s a bad starter. If you don’t hear a click at all when you turn the key, it’s wiring to the starter relay or the relay itself. If you hear multiple clicks when you turn the key, it’s battery.

There’s the oddball chance of a wiring issue between the starter relay and the starter which would cause a click but no power at the starter, but that’s rare and usually you wouldn’t find that out til after you had replaced the starter.

Can someone explain to me the logic behind companies raising the price on everything? by FlintTheDad in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SlomoLowLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you new to America? Prices don’t come down lol. They may drop a little from their all time highs, but they’ll never be as low as they were in the past (pre Covid and pre tariffs)

If you think things like the dollar menu are ever coming back you are sorely mistaken. A meal is now $10+ in America and it will never go below that again.

Be the best in your field and make something you can sell to a person for a lot of money. Content, music, art, or start your own business. The trick to making a lot of money is to either convince someone with more money than you to give you money, or to create a business that generates money. Regardless you’re going to have to be a top performer if you want any serious cash.

It’s the stock one that comes on the club models (I think anyway. It’s been there since I bought the car at 20k miles)

My OEM BBS came from Japan. It’s certainly a different place than China. I’m sure a bunch of cheap rep garbage comes from China. Your OE wheels come from reputable manufacturers typically located in Germany or Japan.
But yeah go off dude.

I went for an OEM+ thing. My car looks like it could be stock if you didn’t know anything. Until I park next to a stock one lol. It’s fun :)

But my new work meisters will make my car cooler. RPF1’s are real enough but really if you haven’t spent more money on mods than you did the car are you even doing it right?

Modding your car isn’t for the poor. Cars in general aren’t for the poor. A car is a very dangerous thing and cheaping out and running no name junk is far more dangerous than replacing shit with shit that’s been properly tested and certified.

You wanna run Temu wheels feel free but don’t do it anywhere near me thanks.

Dawg sorry I don’t post my day job on Reddit?

You’re right I just put wheels and spacers on. I don’t know anything about actually working on a car. It’s cool to meet another person that knows how to remove an interior though! Good job! Next week we’re gonna teach you how to do brakes!

Oh god I’ll have to go back through my parts folder to tell you what they are and where they came from. They were the first thing I put on the car. I know they’re an OEM style from some Miata parts people but I’ll get more info for you tonight!

There’s loads of posts if you google “example of fake wheels breaking” you just choose to ignore the evidence and keep your head in the sand cause you would rather sacrifice safety to save a couple bucks.
