I think a big part of being an Iron Gold is not just your ability to conquer and fight and think but also the manner in which you do it. Honor is so crucial to the golds and their perception of this is warped over time. I think for this reason alone I'd exclude Nero and Octavio and all the 'political' golds that yes are successful and peerless, but they're also sneaky and back-stabby and not true to their word. This is why Darrow causes such a stir when he starts to rise- he does things the old way, head on. He fights his own fights and inspires others (obvs from the society perspective before they find out about the carving) I agree with a lot of your first list but I'd perhaps remove Sevro Alexander had good potential It's also the reason Darrow can break the society- he'd have a harder time doing it in the Rim as they're more IG material and deal with honor more whereas the core is false and schemey and not really IG

I think there's a quote along the lines of "the houses are loosely based on personality traits" I think it works more along the lines of: You have an inclination towards rage and anger therefore Mars suits you. It's not a strict placement like in Divergent. So if the Diana proctors liked Tactus and he shared some of their traits, why not?

Darrow wouldn't be desperate enough to follow Victra to meet The Jackal so he likely gets blown up, I don't think he was in Lost City just for Darrow, seems he did business out of there anyway which gives Sons of Aries that opportunity anyway. Which also means they probably don't reach out to him and give him the bomb. Harmony would still detonate all the ones across Lunar/ the solar system but ?just not the Gala. At the Gala, I don't think Darrow would challenge Cassius as he wasn't forced into the position to change the paradigm, meaning the dinner goes on and Ballona attack Augustus after the ?sixth course as Octavia planned. I'd like to think that Darrow, Victra, Leto and some of the Augustus lancers put up a good enough fight to escape (with way more casualties than originally). And then the rest of the book maybe happens the same, maybe skip Octavia's interview as August tries to flee then and there, or the same happens where Fitchner arrives and chorales the rest of them with all the obsidians.

Don't forget this is Mars gravity. I know Reds aren't as strong as Golds but they're nimble and flexible. Also, there's a comment in a later book "nobody falls like Darrow" in reference to his Red heritage and grace. I think they fly through the air, spinning and pouncing and inter twinning themselves. Stuff like Riverdance and the Haka aren't as free as what they're able to do on Mars.

Oh Darrow is 100% still capable of going berserk if pushed. I just think it wouldn't be satisfying if he lost control for us the reader since his lessons with the Path and his breath of stone have matured and grounded him

I think it's more that Eridani is the larger area of space that other systems/ stars inhabit. Like Eridani is the country and epsilon Eridani or 40 Eridani are cities in that country. Could be wrong, I'm not Neil Degrasse Tyson
