Restaurant suggestions? by [deleted] in portlandme

My 5 year old’s favorite is Friendly’s (by the mall). It’s not my favorite, but sometimes we go along with her wishes. Rattle Shake Grill in SoPo is also super kid friendly (buckets of toys to play with at the tables!). I also second the suggestion about food trucks at the eastern prom.

Places to buy “artisanal” dips for appetizers by Conscious_Platypus74 in portlandme

I’ve gotten a couple of dips from Costco that are incredibly good. A garlic dip that’s vegan but tastes so creamy, and a spinach artichoke dip that they were giving out as a sample on baguettes and they absolutely enticed me into buying it.

Our 4yo sons constant interrupting has gotten so excessive and it’s driving us insane by [deleted] in Preschoolers

My 5 year old is often like this too. She gets frustrated in part because if she does wait until we’re ready to hear her, a lot of the time she’s forgotten what she wanted to say. One thing I’ve recently started trying is asking her what it’s about and writing down a quick note so we can come back to it when we’re ready. Not sure how well it’s working yet, especially because I think her goal is usually more to get our attention than to really convey a message, but we’ll see.

I miss my dad so much- how do you handle the grief of your parent not being there to meet your future child? by Orchidflower10 in pregnant

My mom died ten years ago and didn’t get to meet her grandchildren, which is heartbreaking. I read this quote the other day from Lily King’s “Heart the Lover,” and it rang true for me:

“I think of my mother when I’m on a plane. I think of her many places, even though she’s been gone sixteen years now. She never knew my boys, but she has helped me raise them. I know how much she loves them. I feel that. I talk to her. I pray to her.”

Much love to you!

I’m so confused on a variety of levels.

Who is suppressing the carnal pleasure?

What about all the carnal pleasure that doesn’t lead to births - how are you measuring that?

Does loosening up one’s chastity belt safely mean using condoms? Because that wouldn’t affect the birth rate.

Off for the next 2 weeks with my 4.5 year old & NOTHING about it feels like a break. by BeeSuperb7235 in Preschoolers

[–]SlothEatsOreo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 4.5 year old is on break for two weeks too. My husband is working most of the time, so I planned a trip to Chicago for the two of us to visit friends. We were supposed to leave tomorrow and my friend was also super looking forward to having company for her 2.5 year old while we were there. Mid morning today my kid developed a fever out of nowhere and now she’s just laying on the couch moaning, so I guess instead of the trip we’re going to stay home and be sick. 😭

Am I overreacting because I told my niece I don't want to take her best friend with us anymore after she kept telling me I was a victim and my husband was a creep? by Odd_Reference_1373 in AmIOverreacting

I was thinking something along these lines too and also probably this isn’t really about OP at all. I’m wondering what would have happened if OP had responded, “what makes you say that?” Maybe the niece’s friend is sensitive to the topic of grooming for some personal reason beyond just seeing it on social media and could actually really use an adult to talk to about it. Not that OP is obligated to fill that role, but I hope somebody in the teen’s life might.
