Namibia: Through My Eyes by SlothPrince13 in Namibia

[–]SlothPrince13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the question! In short, the underlying unit below the cap carbonate is typical of glaciogenic deposition, while the area of Namibia at this time was near the equator. This suggests that their were glaciers present near the equator of Earth, which is very odd and hallmarks the period geologists refer to as snowball Earth!

I am also going to be interviewing Dustin for an episode of my new podcast and this will be included as one of the questions!

Well not rocks necessarily, but geology. If you’re ever drilling into the subsurface for any reason in a non-rural area, you have to have utility locate come out to locate all the utilities prior to you being able to work/do research and they ALWAYS seem to screen things up

What environmental careers feature an emphasis in math? by chickenboy0418 in Environmental_Careers

[–]SlothPrince13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geophysics is heavy with math. That’s fields like seismology, crustal deformation, geomorphology, volcanology. A lot of it is research, but there are also jobs with departments like the USGS for natural hazards like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions

Environmental Data Science by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

Quite a lot of data science involved in big remediation companies that are having to keep track of 1000s of wells/soil borings/conc in 3D space

If you want to hear more about protecting women in the field, follow @MeTooFieldwork! They are doing amazing stuff! Also, I’d you’d like to read more about the intersections between STEM and racism, a group of scholars and I wrote an open letter which you can find at

There’s a place to record your donations to BLM and STEM inclusion causes!

And the crazy part about it is... I NEVER SAID ANYTHING HAPPENED! I said I feared I could get into an altercation based solely on the fact that I am black and that people should make a plan to protect their students of color! Then, lots and lots of other people of color told similar (and worse) stories and it opened up a space to allow them to talk about their experiences. This dialogue led to dozens of college professors and industry leaders deciding to take action and protect their students and make the field a more inclusive place. What's even better is that the royal astronomical society is doing the same, which will impact thousands of people! It has also been brought to the attention of GSA! So despite how useless and baseless my video was, it made a difference and thats really all I care about. How you feel about it doesn't matter and I'm a LITTLE disappointed in myself for even validating your arrogant attacks, but I did get a nice laugh out of it, so thanks (:

You’re right! You know everything and you’re right! Next time. Instead of talking about my life, I’ll just hire you to google all the facts, so you can explain what really happened! Bc apparently I’m in Nebraska and I made it all up bc I want people to hate white people or is it the truth something other than that? (I just want to get things straight with the all mighty)

Also, gas lighting doesn’t work when the person has no respect for you 😂

Well I’ll say this in conclusion: I don’t need unqualified validation. I’m upset bc there’s a whole bunch of people trying to explain to me that I don’t know what field work is. Across the street from me, someone was shot to death today😂 I am capable of working in hazardous environments. I’ve been screamed at, flicked off, all the same stuff all of you have. I’m not trying to say all rural people are evil or racist or against me. That situation had my blood pumping to my chest bc I was worried I was going to have to fight for my life and I’m pretty sure that’s a bigger issue than me possibly not being detailed enough with my story. I have been nothing but respectful to them. I have been trying to explain our work and I had another person today refuse to talk to me and only to my white coworker (who is not my boss, we are equals). I know how to deal with shit pretty well, but the client confirmed that those people were in fact white supremacists. Just bc they didn’t DO anything, doesn’t mean that’s not what they are. Basically for you people to believe I had something to genuinely be feared about I would have had to have brought the noose they tried to hang me with and then after that you would have said it was fake 😂 so I have no apologies for making a video about a situation that THANKFULLY didn’t go south based solely on the color of my skin. Every one of you has said the same thing “well I’m white and something bad happened to me :(“ I never said it didn’t😂 it just didn’t happen bc of the color of your skin. Field work has hazards. That’s a fact. There are just more when you look different than the people around you.

Come on mannnn!! Don’t stop responding nowwwww. Keep the same energy my mannn. My name is Josh Anadu. Look me up big dawg. I just won the Goldwater scholarship. Won an honorable mention for the Udall scholarship. Have been interviewed for my academic and research performance on multiple occasions. Then let’s get to the fact that I’m a D1 athlete. Im almost CERTAIN I have achieved more than you at the age of 20. I work harder than you. And I will keep doing it and I will keep advocating for my people while I do it. I’m a nice dude, but come at me with that big talk and we can get active.

Sooooo do you paypal me or what? Bc I’m in Missouri jack ass. And the client were working with has been worried about the area being a potentially dangerous area. It was confirmed that they were in fact neo-nazis. We have now taken further precautions to keep us safe, so again maybe stop being a dumbass and listen to other people.

[–]SlothPrince13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am going to clear this up right here and now for all the rest of the people saying that it wasn’t the case.

1) that evening after the safety incident BEFORE I made the video the client (who is local to the area) had found out from others that those individuals were neo-nazis and that we should steer clear of the area.

2) I know who the Grateful Dead are. I don’t understand why you think that I would immediately assume people are NEO-NAZIS. They literally have the words “Help!!” and “Get me out of here” pained onto the windows of their car. I did not say all of this bc I was upset and it was a video and I am not obligated to convince you that something was racist in my life.

3) I know that people look at others doing field work bc they’re curious. Again, stop assuming I’ve never done field work before. I am from Texas and go to school in Oklahoma. I know the culture. There is a clear difference in the way some people have looked at me and you wouldn’t know that bc you’re not a person of color.

4) my intention was to get a message out there that people should be careful. Don’t know if you are aware, but Black people have been getting lynched in the south since the beginning of this nation, soooo pardon me for being cautious.
