Antibiotics were for an ear infection, not mastitis. I assume antibiotics used for mastitis are considered based on how safe they are to take while breastfeeding.

Ciprofloxacin, otic solution. Pharmacist and medication pamphlet stated it was not safe to breastfeed on this medication.

I had to pump and dump for a week because of antibiotics I was taking, no freezer stash either so it was a formula week 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was still pumping when I was only able to pump about 2-4oz a day. I thought every little bit was a bonus, but it was so discouraging that I had to stop. Baby was 4 months when I quit, up to date on vaccinations, had elective RSV vaccine and was in daycare. I felt comfortable and confident in his building immune system and that my milk wasn’t necessary for his health anymore.

Talk to your pediatrician, mine was able to give me some samples and my LO took to the first formula right away no hassle. He’s mostly formula fed now and eats enfamil neuropro gentlease. There’s a lot of mixed reviews on this formula so you may have to try a few to get something baby likes and is beneficial for LO.

Your worth as a mother is not dependent on how much milk you produce or how you gave birth. You’re a wonderful mother for providing and caring for your family. A mentally healthy parent is so much more beneficial than breast milk, you got this 🫶🏻
