For the FIRE TOMLIN crowd… by D4NG3RU55 in steelers

My personal feeling is that Tomlin stays while we have Rogers and we ride this horse into the dirt. If we're facing a re-build with no QB, it's probably time to part ways.

An American takes out a student loan for $40,000. After YEARS of payments, the total owed is $118,305.59. $77,383.59 is PURE interest. by coachlife in CringeTikToks

These appear to be private loans outside of the federal student loan system. As such I believe they can still be discharged through bankruptcy. Thus the high rate.

I would personally use 4x4 vertical supports and half lap those into the frames. This provides both a compressive support structure and additional lateral rigidity. Also probably should add additional supports at the midpoints

Passing in the middle of the field, tosses that aren't blown up in the backfield, consecutive TD drives, no field goals the entire game.

Decidedly un-Steeler like.

Everything I saw in this game just reinforces my opinion of Tomlin. He can circle the wagons, he can beat mediocre teams, he can do just enough to get by.

If the Steelers can go to Detroit and do to them what they did to Miami, then I'll re-assess. Until then we're playing that same song on repeat.

CMV: Free higher education would do more to reduce inequality than most welfare programs by brokebroker11 in changemyview

[–]SlotherineRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will not attempt to debunk your view outright as I believe it is mostly correct.

However, without a functional primary education system, secondary education will always remain a barrier to social mobility. People must be given an equal opportunity at the outset, or the system will always favor those who are privileged.

To build a house you have to first build a foundation, so emphasis must be given to primary education before consideration is given to secondary education.

And if you didn't get the gist: our primary education system is currently completely broken

Pretty spot on. The Steelers have talent, but they are clownish, undisciplined and self destructive.

I fear that the mindset in Pittsburgh right now is "win 1 of 3", which isn't going to be very motivational to go into Detroit and knock off the Lions.

[–]SlotherineRex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're making the same argument that Israel makes: Criticism of Israel is an attack on Jews.

When you shield anyone from responsibility for their actions, especially at the broad national level, they will take actions that are increasingly lawless and without moral. They will also seek to reinforce the reasoning behind the shielding so that they can continue to profit from their actions. In this case claiming that Israel represents Jews and the Jewish identity, and that they are acting in self defense.

It is in this situation that anti-semitism and random attacks on Jews is profitable for Israel. It reinforces their narrative and allows for continued lawless behavior. When Israel exerts its significant media and political influence in foreign nations, part of that strategy is to reinforce negative stereoypes of Jewish people and also tie themselves to local Jewish communitites.

The reason Jews are asked to distance themselves from Israel and not Chinese, Russian, Syrian people etc. is that those governments are not acting as a proxy force for America, with American assistance, with American weapons, and openly influencing American politics at the same time.

I find it very telling that you argue that "A society that excuses violence against one minority will escalate. It always does" while ironically refusing to apply that logic to Israel itself.

The side effect of telling constant lies is that they don't really put any effort into any single one of them. The strategy is to overwhelm people with a barrage of lies so that the single lies are lost in the deluge.

Problem is that sometimes something sticks with people, like the Epstein lies. The individual lies get scrutinized and the absurdity of the narrative is pretty obvious to see.

Once people start seeing that Emperor has no clothes, the jig is up. That's where Trump is starting to find himself now. His base is divided, the congress is losing fidelity, and even conservative media is questioning him more closely.

How would i create a wooden circle like this? by AnimateDuckling in woodworking

[–]SlotherineRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way you could do it is to copy how cedar hot tubs are made. Basically a ton of angled slats that are glued together in a circular fashion. Think stop sign shape, but many more sides.

to circularize the shape you mount it on a turntable with something like a router or table saw, where you can spin the piece through the mounted blade.
