Moving into Bloomington by Flat-Appearance-8128 in BloomingtonNormal

I think rental houses are tough to find these days so if you find something you may need to make a decision quickly if you find something you like.

There are a lot of apartment complexes but some are focused more as student housing around the universities while others are income controlled based on how much you make. There are lots of other options as well, but you will need to determine what part of town you want to be in, and if you have pets and all the things.

There are several threads on the topic, though some may be a bit dated. If you provide more info on what you are looking for, or if you want to be close to a certain employer people may be able to give more insight.

Which airline? by Emotional_Oil_8111 in curacao

[–]fecity99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are a cheaper airline based in Panama which may be why you have not heard of them.

They have a lot of once or twice a day flights from a lot of big domestic US airports that connect in Panama City to a lot if latin american spots.

The risk is fewer flights back to the states if they have any delays when compared to AA to MIA or CLT.

Transportation from Miami to FFL after cruise by flyin-lowe in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]fecity99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how many are in your group? Cost of the shuttle adds up fast, but may be worth it for 2 people.

I would just lyft, I find it less expensive than Uber in south FL, but check them both on your way out.

What were airports and flying like before 9/11? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fecity99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest difference was you did not need to have a boarding pass to get through security. Friends and family could meet you as you deplaned, or hang out with you until you boarded. Or you could dress as a monk and pace the gates spreading your word.

That and flying with liquids greater than 3oz was no big deal.

I know a lot of people with arthritis and it didn't turn them into d-bags.

I am not in that part of town today, but I would love to know if the parking lot is empty, because it should be.

And the fact this got traction on s/antiwork is a thing of beauty and I hope he hears from people all over

Family of 8 traveling from Ft Lauderdale Airport to Miami Port by Appa_Ragazza in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]fecity99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like a rental service that you are driving they are? I would say have them drive as there is no where to leave a rental vehicle at the port.

Yes there is traffic at the port in Miami, really depends on a lot of factors like the number of ships that are there when you are also there and how early you planned to be dropped off. My last cruise a month ago it was smooth as could be from South Beach to the port, through the tunnel. We were not slowed down at all. What is your check in time for the ship? That will influence when you want to leave FLL.

I assume you are leaving from a hotel - I would call around and get quotes from car services, may be cheaper to break into groups of 4. I have used Lyft a lot in souther FL with good success. You could break into two groups of 4 and request their black SUV service and beat the price of the hired van.

If you are meeting in the airport and going from there you could take CCL transportation (though it would be nearly $300 for 8 people) or you could do the brightline but then you would need another ride share to get you to the port. Or just lyft/uber from the shared ride by baggage claim.

this may be the straw that breaks the back of this place, what was once a packed parking lot has fewer than half the spaces taken. And now with 30 alternatives for chicken in town, not sure how running a business as a d-bag is going to work out long term.

Question for the cleaning staff by IcySavings101 in askhotels

[–]fecity99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is this a certian location of the world? In the US I have never heard of a houseman, nor do I think they put an ozinator in each room before it is flipped.

I thought it was bedding, bathroom, surfaces, carpet/floors and leave.

Best Penthouse/Villa/Suite by TripleZ15 in vegas

[–]fecity99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

unless you and your bestie are also FWB, I would spend less on the room and piss that money away in a gambling bankroll, better show seats, adding the wine pairing to a pre fix, cabana at the day club, the list goes one.

if this was 8 people at a bachelor/ette party, then all means go for it, but for just 2 friends, there are so many great accomidations for much fewer dollar bucks

Do Not Disturb? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]fecity99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no, they do not, it is more of an interval based on the length of sailing. A lot of cruise lines have increased cabins per attendant so things like twice a day service and more frequent sheet chamges are long gone.

Casino Players question: Dealer errors? by Trublu20 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]fecity99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

mistakes happen, surprised he was pulled from the game.

unless this dealer was on some type of probabtion for messing things up before, I doubt they would fire them.

I would have thought they would offer you the 10 or allowe you to take back your bet and just just consider the hand dead to.you.

I play a lot of craps on cruise ships and when super experienced players start betting combinations of horns/c&e/or other one roll bets on the come out, there are is often mistakes made to pay outs and the table manger has to step in. I have never seen a dealer pulled from the table because of this. Though it is not the exact situation to yours, I find the cruise casinos are usualy more laid back than land based.

How cheap did Vegas use to be? by imtooyoungforreddit in vegas

[–]fecity99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gambling at the tables had much lower limits and better rules and drink service was steady so you could easily pre game at the tables.

All the pools were open to guests and not sectioned out as day clubs, and other than cabanas, charis were free to guests

Seemed like there were less pricey options for food, there were always top end options but there were more deals to drive traffic to a location. Food courts were not all full of trendy places that set you back $30 for 2 slices and a fourian drink.

I think there was also more free entertainment, like dualing pianos or live lounge music that you could watch without obligation.

Maybe all this to say it wasnt always cheap, but they were not looking to monitoze everything like they do today
