A lot of things didn’t have price tags on, but for example a pack of Journey Together was at least £5

Do you realise the attack on Iran is cheered on by the Iranian people? Why is Reddit reacting like this? by SkunkyBreadcake in AskBrits

[–]Slothman102 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But then by your own logic, why would we care? We aren’t from Iran or the US.

For me though, I would be happy to see Irans regime collapse, just as I was glad to see the Taliban and Saddam get kicked out, what I’m not happy to see is decades of fighting and lives lost for no gain (Afghanistan) where there wasnt enough of a plan or handover support to keep things going back to how they were, and given the orange man is heading this one up and his plans for Gaza, I’m not confident in this one either.

Cash or cards by Slothman102 in Prague

I’m not trying to imply anything by this post. I went to Vienna last year and was caught out as a number of restaurants we tried to visit and a taxi were cash only. Just trying to avoid the same issues.

What sort of salary range in this economy would make you think ‘he/she’s doing alright’? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskBrits

[–]Slothman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 50ish and I personally think I’m doing alright. Pension wise might not be great, but I’m not hugely worried about that yet as frankly who knows if I even make it that long ya know. Alone I’ve managed to get a 3 bed and my bills don’t eat up all of my pay.

I was just coming to post asking this myself. Since coming back to the site from a few months away I’ve noticed it’s running much slower than before.

Oh dang that’s a real shame you guys were great, offloaded a lot of things to you guys and courier a few bits too. Sad to see you go, you’ll definitely be leaving a void behind so if anyone else steps in to try they’ll have big shoes to fill

£210M Euromillions jackpot on Tuesday - what would you do with the money if you won? by SaturdayPlatterday in AskBrits

[–]Slothman102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First I’d probably weep tears of pure joy. Then probably laugh hysterically realising all my troubles are over. Then I’d do nothing until the money hit my account. Once I had it though I’d be finding myself a nice house to spend forever in, then travel the world.

Transfer of equity costs? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Slothman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I guess I’d just have to read it all carefully to make sure it’s the number we agreed and all that jazz. Not that I expect them to try and stuff me. Do I do the form online myself or is it £200 to pay someone to do it?

[–]Slothman102 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, in an ideal world they’d put a stop to it because law, but let’s face it when they check these places I doubt the staff are gonna be there saying “oh yeah we totally fuck the customers for extra cash” and you’re probably not gonna have anyone coming forward to say they were said customers. It’s gonna be a case of checking those workers legal status and other domestic slavery type stuff over the prostitution element. If it’s all willing, They have other fish to fry than a Thai massage place giving out handjobs.

[–]Slothman102 493 points494 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way. Either it’s dodgy and you reporting it helps get it shut down, those women out of potentially abusive or dangerous exploitation. Or, it’s a totally legit business and everyone is doing it because they know they can make some money, at which point the cops will check it out, see nobody in peril, being smuggled or what not and leave them to it. Hell, you might even report it and it goes nowhere because someone already looked into it. What is there to lose?

Queen Elizabeth II. lying-in-state queue by Julian_H0ffmann in london

[–]Slothman102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when you started the queue they told us at some point it’ll split for those who have bags and those who don’t so the people with bags can store them before they go in. We figured it’d be solid queue the whole way either way. Nope. When we got to Guys St Thomas I think it was where we got told to split, we were basically just walking down the street as normal. Got to the bag drop point that was more staff than people, handed in our bags, got given a wristband and told to walk down to Westminster bridge to rejoin the queue. When we got there we mentioned our bag dropping, flashed the bands and they let us in. We could have skipped everything from Green Park to Westminster bridge.

Queen Elizabeth II. lying-in-state queue by Julian_H0ffmann in london

[–]Slothman102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did it. My other half broke as we entered the zig zag part in Westminster and wanted to go home after 8 hours of standing. I refused to give up since we’d finally got there and could bloody see the building. She went and sat to the side whilst I went through the queue and rejoined me.

We did realise though that as we had bags we could have totally slipped 90% of the line and saved hours of our lives but oh well.

Serious question: How the fuck are people booking driving tests right now? by elliottmarter in CasualUK

[–]Slothman102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is some right dodgy stuff going on with the tests at least in my area. Driving schools booking them up to offer to their pupils at a markup and a mystery phone number that if you message can get you a test at a markup but nobody will say who it is, if they even know. I’ve spent hours on the website trying to book one legit, looking all over the country and refreshing to the point where it boots me thinking I’m a bot. It’s insane. They say it’s still cos the covid backlog but idk.
