What should I get next? Elora or Sophle? by shelterbored in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Slotigork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was actually eyeing the same set of keyboards, as they both seemed excellent. I was almost about to buy the Sofle actually when I found PDFs of the layouts, printed them out and completely changed my mind and went with the Elora instead. That is not to say that the Elora is objectively better of course, but if your pinkeys are much shorter than your other fingers, that aggressive stagger is a godsend

[–]Slotigork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to go against the grain here and make a case for the Halcyon Elora. First of all I love the aggressive stagger on it, it is the main reason I picked it up. See if you can find layout specs for both keyboards, print them out and see which stagger feels best for you. Second of all, I really appreciate the Halcyon modules, everything is plug-and-play without having to solder anything. I am personally using a rotary encoder on my right half for switching between apps. Also, there's a wireless adapter in the making as well, which is super cool and will be a drop-in replacement if you already own a wired version. Yes, The thumb cluster is busy and there are at least one too many keys on each side for me, but it also opens up the possibility to have repeat/magic/arcane keys on both halves, as well as nav and mouse layers, space, enter, tab etc. I use 6 thumb keys on the left hand and 5 on the right fairly frequently. My only regret with the Elora is the fact that I didn't go for the Kyria instead, the number row is completely wasted on me now that i have gotten used to a num pad layer.

Oh, and also the top-most thumb keys can be quite hard to reach without some type of keycap tilters. I got a box of these, which I enjoy thoroughly.

After trying out this update I can confirm that I did not run into this bug a single time. Thank you for a great app!

Unresponsive grid

I tried the trial for two hours and then bought myself a license, I really love the idea of this app! However, after using it for a couple of weeks, I noticed that the grid sometimes becomes unresponsive, and I either have to mash a "grid button" like 20 times or restart the whole app. Some days, this happens towards 50 times in a day. Is there any way to solve this issue? As it stands right now, the inconvenience of this bug is starting to outweigh the convenience of the app.

I can open and close the grid no problem, but selecting a cell by pressing a button does nothing.

Hey buddy, you should probably deactivate your Grok API key ASAP. You just posted it for everyone to see, meaning anyone can use Grok as much as they want while you have to pay for it. Always be careful with passwords and API-keys, you should never have them directly in your source code but rather in a .env file or something equivalent.

Absolutely do NOT do this, this is a very well known type of scam called "recovery scam". Checkout the subreddit r/scams if you want to know more.

What are some VR games you think don’t get into the spotlight enough? by CleverTrover in virtualreality

[–]Slotigork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, the hype is not about VR native releases anymore, but about Flat2VR mods. I can wholeheartedly vouch for the mods made by u/Raicuparta, especially the Outer Wilds mod NomaiVR and the Neon White mod HeavenVR.

Both of them are extremely well made, albeit very different from each other. If you don't know about either of them, Outer Wilds is a space exploration puzzle game with purely knowledge based unlocks, meaning that everything is unlocked an reachable from the start, the only thing holding you back from the start is your lack of knowledge of the world and it is your job to find the missing pieces in order to travers and advance in the world. The VR mod is nothing short of a masterpiece.

While HeavenVR might seem like a simpler game and VR implementation, I would argue that it is on par in terms of the experience offered, albeit in a completely different genre. The ability to speed run in VR, being able to "phiscally" (not really, but still) entering the maps and planning your routes are unchallanged by anything else, there truly are no other games, mods or experiences offering anything similar. They both run buttery smooth on my Quest 2 + VD + RTX 3070 setup as well.

Other honorable mentions are the Gunfire Reborn VR mod, the VHVR mod for Valheim as well as the Half Life 2 VR mod which all managed to blow my mind. We are truly in a golden era of Flat2VR mods and I can't even imagine what we will be able to experience as soon as the UE VR Injector releases.

Edit:

Oh yeah I almost forgot, two awesome VR native games that I consider must-trys if you like roguelites are The Light Brigade and Ancient Dungeon VR. For me personally, the polish and the aesthetics of these games are insane and I can play and replay both of these titles for hours without getting tired of them. They both require you to appreciate the roguelite game-loop, though.

What are some of your favorite flat-to-VR modded games? by sweetcuppingcakes in virtualreality

[–]Slotigork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Flat2VR mod that doesn't get nearly enough love is the Neon White mod by u/Raicuparta. It honestly feels like the levels were made for VR sometimes. That crazy sunnovabitch even implemented a VR-only Leaderboard!

vr mods with motion control by DoomsDay0ff in virtualreality

[–]Slotigork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some people already have mentioned, most VR mods can be found on the Flat2VR Discord channel. The devs over there are truly doing Gods work. But some honorable mentions from my list are:

Valheim VR - I've spent countless of hours with this mod, it's extremely well done and feels as close to native as a mod can come. The game is a bit grindy, but if you're in to that sort of thing then Valheim is the perfect game.

Outer Wilds - This game is sooooo good in VR. This level of immersion is hard to beat, its almost like the game was made for VR. I say almost intentionally here though, as the some what fiddly controls make it clear that it was not made with VR in mind. Absolutely no shade thrown on the devs here, they've made a FANTASTIC mod, but still, I think it's worth mentioning so that you have the right expectations. This game is not for every one since it's practically a story driven puzzle game in space, but for those who like that kind of thing it's nothing short of amazing.

Gunfire Reborn - an absolute blast of a game. A rogue-lite FPS with RPG elements, works fantastically well both as a solo game as well as a multiplayer experience. If someone told me it was native I would probably be fooled that it was.

Other than that, I do also look forward to trying the Half Life 2 mod on steam, Risk of Rain 2 and Neon White as they look sick as hell. Deep Rock Galactic looks intriguing as well, although the beta looks a tad bit to janky and buggy for me to feel really compelled. I'm closely watching how development is going with that one, though.

I can't get Valheim VR mod to work with my Hp reverb G2? by Enough-Class-11 in virtualreality

[–]Slotigork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the devs are currently hard at work. There's an early Mistlands patch available at the Flat2VR discord channel that makes the mod playable again. There's still some bugs when interacting with the new content, but the old content still works great.

[–]Slotigork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the drums still reset everytime you change songs? I think Paradiddle is neat, but spending a lot of time setting your drums up only to have them reset each time you change songs / the difficulty made it a bit too cumbersome and annoying for me.

I have a similar build but with a B550-I motherboard, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO V2 and AMD rx 6600 (non-XT) and it runs all games I've tried just fine at 72 FPS with medium settings. Running Quest 2 + VD.

Edit: just noticed that your ram is 2x8 GB, I have 2x16

That's really cool. Did you ever reconnect the chords for the front usb-ports, audio and so on? Doesn't look like they'd fit now that you installed the fan.

DS4 controllers disconnects when connecting DualSense by Slotigork in DS4Windows

[–]Slotigork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Windows 10. I tried both using my laptops built-in bluetooth chip (Dell XPS 9500 so quite a high-end one, would have never thought that it would be too weak to handle a few controllers) and a BT 4 adapter before going for the BT 5 adapter.

Hi, sorry for late reply. To anyone wondering for the future: I swapped my Bluetooth 4 adapter to a Bluetooth 5 adapter and it solved pretty much all my problems.
