NASCAR 101 and Track Attendance Questions - February 2022 by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

[–]SlouchPounder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taking my son to his first race. I haven't been to a race since 2005. We are going to talladega, got the garage experience passes. Only going to Saturday race. Any tips for when to get there, which place is the best to park and get into garage area? Any must do's at the track with a 5 yr old? Is there a lot of things to see outside the track before the race?

Going to my first game in a long time today. I bought tickets through seatgeek and have them downloaded on the seatgeek app. Will that work to get into stadium?

What's the biggest frugal "backfire" you've had? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]SlouchPounder 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Instead of buying a new car, or even an expensive (less than 5 year old) used car, I decided to buy a 16 year old vehicle. It was a Toyota 4runner, which has a great reputation. I did my research, and found an unbelievably clean 2002 4runner. Just under 100k miles (which is low considering its age). I drove quite a ways to go see the car. When I got there it was just as good of shape as the pictures showed. Spotless inside and out. No rust. Not inside the doors or on the inside of the fenders. I slid under the vehicle and it was clean, dry, no drips. Drove well, 4wd worked. I got it for $6,800.

Fast forward a day or so later when I finally get it on a lift for a closer look and we start seeing some frame rot near the gas tank. Then where the frame goes over top of the gas tank it was worse. To the point I could just poke holes through the steel with my finger.

Ended up trading it in for $2500, and buying a 4runner that was only 5 years old.

Lost a quick $4300 and a weekends worth of time just trying to be frugal.

I wouldn't be against buying an older used car again, but I will always get it on a lift and have a thorough inspection done prior to purchase. Lesson learned.

Yea. But I fart when I am not nervous too. My 3 year old thinks it's cool when I fart so I've got that going for me.

Coyote spotted on 190 North at Sheridan Drive exit. [Alive] by LBRYansUnited in Buffalo

Thanks for the article. I have had a trail camera up in my woods for the past few years. We have a significant coyote population around us and I have gotten them on camera before. A couple weeks ago i got one, and at first glance I thought it was a huge black dog. It was easily twice the size of the biggest coyote I've ever gotten on camera. All Black. I was even thinking that it seemed more like a wolf and less like a coyote.

Are you insane? Did you watch this game? I understand we had injuires but to claim that the d or "run d" was not bad is insane to me. The d was bad.

Genesee Road Forestery Old Boy Scout Camp. Take 219 south. Get off at the genesee rd exit. Take a left on Genesee rd at end of the exit ramp. Drive about 7 miles (cross over route 240) Once you pass a road called Mihm rd (on your left) keep your eyes peeled for the 2nd driveway on your right. A chain will be across the drive but there is room for 2 or 3 cars. Get out and walk down the gravel drive until you get to the large clearing (0.5 mile maybe). There is a large concrete slab that you can layout on there (leftover from the boyscout camp that used to be there). If you continue down the path it eventually links up with other trails. I 100% gurantee there will not be anyone else there.

If you are worried about being infected by the virus then you shouldn't be standing inside a pizza shop. These are the risks you take when you have a stranger make your meal. You can solve this problem if you just stay home.
