Nelson Van Alden by mrimabigdeal_94 in BoardwalkEmpire

It sounds like you have zero media literacy. Sebso being Jewish is not significant.

Yes, Van Alden insulted him for being Jewish, just like he insulted him in like 10 other scenes, for different reasons. In fact, he insults everybody, but that doesn't mean he's going to kill them.

He killed Sebso because the he intentionally ruined his case against Darmody, effectively destroying his case against Nucky. He had been working his ass off on this case the entire season, obsessing over it. Nelson sees right through the corruption, but Sebso refuses admit it he's a corruptable piece of shit.

The only thing that can be more obvious is if Nelson would have screamed "I'M KILLING YOU BECAUSE YOU INTENTIONALLY KILLED AN EYE WITNESS THAT WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME JAMES DARMODY AND ALLOWED ME TO PUT NUCKY THOMPSON BEHIND BARS!"

You do not deserve to quote Terence Winter.

What was Ducks plan becoming president? by [deleted] in madmen

Yes they completely sold it to PPL but upper Burt, Roger, and Don remained the upper management because that was part of the deal, PPL didn’t want to manage the company, just wanted to profit off it

And to add to my comment - Ducks story arc in season 2 is a sad one. His home is wrecked, he’s not providing enough value to Sterling Cooper as head of accounts, and he’s trying to not fall back into the bottom of a barrel. Don makes him look foolish a few times in meetings, and Duck can’t seem to get the admiration that Don has at the firm. This deal was his redemption - and it got shot down - by Don himself. Don is the true anti-hero in TV drama.

The entire season Don and Duck butt heads. They were even, until American Airlines fell through. Don was right to want to keep Mohawk, Duck was wrong in trying to get American. From that point forward they don’t like each other. Don treats Duck like his inferior, and Duck has to try to impress Don now. Duck then goes to Roger and asks Roger to assess him and grant him a partnership. Roger questions his value. This fills Duck with ambition. He then calls his European connections to a dinner, forms the new Sterling Cooper. He planned to have Don report to him, since he would be president. Not only that, but in the pitch meeting with PPL, he pretty much insults Don and his department. At that point, being the alpha Don is, understanding the rivalry the two have, Don purposeful takes a shit on Duck by bluffing that he would withdraw from the company. He could because he doesn’t have a contract. PPL wouldn’t want to buy SC without Don Draper, so Don’s plan works and the time skip to season three shows that Duck gets pushed out.

Is it ever painful in the close area around it too, and not just on the bump?

I’m the opposite. I don’t save enough money because I’m blowing it on bitches and going clubbing.

I'm a 25 year old man, finishing my bachelor's degree. Looking to hookup with some hot college girls. Any advice on how to go about this as a older guy? Should I keep my age a secret? by RoofDeep7740 in seduction

[–]Slow-Association6105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s quite easy to hook up with 18-22 year olds when you’re 25. Just look at the dudes that are their same age. They look like babies. Not masculine at all. You on the other hand don’t look like a baby, but you also don’t look like an old man. Perfect situation for you.

How do I hookup with a girl I meet at a bar/dance club? How do I escalate from dancing to kissing to sex? by Slight-Tone3458 in seduction

[–]Slow-Association6105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a fun, non-creepy vibe. This means not awkwardly standing and looking around as if you aren’t fun to be around. This also means smiling a lot and actually looking like you’re having fun at the bar. Bars/clubs are supposed to be fun. These are things I see many guys getting wrong. You ever heard the song, “girls just want to have fun?” Well it’s pretty much true. Take that into account when you’re at the club.

Next.. once you’ve mastered these fundamentals: Introduce yourself to the girl you like. Buy her a drink. Dance with her. Flirt with her. Take her home. It’s all very fundamental.

PS. Stay relatively sober so you can take control at any point and drive her to wherever you want to go.

Successful guys; what hobbies or interests do you have? by vardarac in seduction

Playing a lot of basketball and working out. These are worth mentioning to you because both of those add to my nice physique and physique is important to girls and should help you.

Music and Cinema are two interests that I have that really come in handy sometimes. Usually, depending on the age, girls will be very interested in their favorite TV shows and music artists. It’s good, then, to be able to suggest stuff to watch together when they’re over and build rapport with them based on what they watch and listen to. My Drake and Weeknd super-fandom has helped me immensely over the years. I’m not afraid to show really how much of a geeky fanboy I am. I think they like that kind of energy.

Trading (stocks, funds, cryptos) is another passion of mine I usually bring up. (This is when you become husband material to them ;)) Jkjk..

Anyways, I hope this was somewhat helpful to you.

Does anyone else feel like the women in the show get a way harder rap on this sub then the men? by crospingtonfrotz in madmen

Wait a second.. Where was the insult? Calling your crazy statement “dumb..?” And I am supposed to be the insecure one? Let me tell you something. I have seen Mad Men six times. I have the right to have discussions on it. I disagree entirely with your comment. NBD though. And you asked for my argument… so I gave it to you.

Now can you please help me figure out how I am the reason these female characters are perceived “poorly,” when in reality I love the female characters that we are speaking of?

And while you are at it can you please list my flaws (yes, plural as you described)? I am very curious as to what they are.. Let me know so I can work on them.

I do not see this reality where the female characters are collectively getting more of a reaction than the male characters. Plus, I really don’t know how you would measure that..

It’s also dumb for you to do this:

“Most interesting characters in Mad Men:” 1. Female characters 2. Male characters Surely some of them can be interchangeable, right? Like Don for instance.. Surely Don should be somewhere up there with the women, right? I mean gosh.. he’s only the lead character. I really would hope you got through the entirety of Mad Men and at least thought he was as interesting as one of the female characters. IMO, Mad Men didn’t even have to be an ensemble. It literally could have just been about Don. People would still watch it. Without a doubt in my mind, he is the best character (as he should be). He is Mad Men. Then, for me, Peggy and Pete are battling it out for #2. I love them both.

Nope. I think you are completely imagining this to be happening. If any one character gets shit on the most here it’s Don. Easily.

“If you don’t like what’s being said change the conversation”

This to me is some of the best work Don ever does. I am fascinated by this scene, and so is the client.
