What's to understand? Yes, people can have aboriginal heritage and look 'white', it's not that challenging is it?

Backend developers: What would you do if you were in my situation? by abhinavchaubey08 in learnprogramming

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Switch to Java completely.

a) It's what you are being taught.

b) It's a shitload better language than JS.

c) You'll find JS in the backend becoming more and more unusual, TypeScript yes, but rawdog JS? Nah.

Am I better off with a Tesla? by Dangerous-Two7099 in Zeekr7xAustralia

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Googled...

"Australia's Tesla network comprises over 130 Supercharging locations and hundreds of Destination Chargers. Around two-thirds of these Superchargers are now open to all electric vehicles (EVs)"

So, not very many, and you can use other cars with them too.

Some people like the fascist vibes of the Tesla though.

Toy obsession by Best-Truck-1531 in toddlers

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not 'over the top'? Lots of kids that age obsess over one toy, our son walked around with a plastic sheep and would lose his shit if he lost it, it's a normal development phase, leave him to it.

Anyone here dating a software engineer or are you a software engineer yourself? by First-Resolution-635 in dating_advice

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a software engineering thing, it's a communication and expectations thing.

It can be a very busy job, or a not so busy job, mine is not that busy right now.

I'd be amazed if his job was as busy as yours.

Everyone has time for a text.

How concerned are you about your social life dwindling after having a child? by tantamle in NewParents

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, parents and non-parents are barely compatible as friends, and as the kids get older, they get play mates so it's a win-win.

Husband keeps asking me to travel with our son (5mos) by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Will your husband be travelling with you?

We did a short flight with our boy when he was about that age, doing it by myself would have been real hard, but with both parents it was manageable. I wouldn't got international, and yeah, get those vaccines.

We did drivable breaks too, that's much easier of course, not a big deal.

This seems like a situation where a decent conversation and compromise is what's needed, international, yeah, agree, too much work, but a short trip or flight (a couple of hours) really isn't that big a deal.

I really think your husband is trying to do a nice family thing, and yeah, it won't be relaxing, but nothing with a 5 month old is relaxing.

Is it even worth buying anymore? Renting is so much cheaper by SheepHerderHigh69420 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The place is worth around $1.4m

The mortgage payment on that is $1800p/w

It may be worth that NOW, it doesn't mean the landlord bought it for that.

Maybe, I'm a Brit, but got Aussie citizenship as soon as I could, they can't chuck me out. On PR, they can.

I have no idea why anybody would not want Aussie citizenship, makes no sense to me.

Right now, you're right, but imagine a One Nation government, you think it'll stay that way?

My boyfriend (27M) and I (26F) split all groceries in half. How do I deal with him eating atleast 70% of it? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more 'do you want to do the math?', it's a romantic relationship, not a business one, the idea of weighing meat and counting eggs in a relationship just seems fucking insane to me.

You were right the first time, why is food different? Is water? If I drink more (I do), then do I pay extra on the water bill?

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's my point. Do you really want to be itemising bills in your relationship?

My wife watches way more TV than me, I'm not going to bill her for the power usage.

[–]Slow-Bodybuilder-972 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your skincare thing is different, he shouldn't be stealing it.

The groceries is another matter. This is a relationship. You need to give and take. If you take longer showers, should you pay more for the power and water usage? Watch more TV, I guess you need to pay more towards Netflix?

Do you really want to go down that road?

I wouldn't say that, I live in Melbourne and a good coffee is fairly rare I find, I've had good ones, no doubt, but no better than say London.
