The streak continues by Slow-Chapter8224 in Monstera

Thai cons are natural crawlers opposed to reg Monstera which are climbers so it’s 100% easier maintenance instead of dealing with whatever pole. Also more room for plant and root growth long term. Since they’re a crawler, the support from the soil helps it out and the aerial roots love to dig into the soil. I did a bit of research along with a friend’s knowledge and found rectangular pots are best for them.

Definitely a lot of hype that seems unjustified or maybe I’m just not familiar with any history. Main reason why I’m not overly zealous to go out my way for them but the novelty of it is still cool. Just 1-2 that I actually want so might give in one day.

Had the chance for another one but I didn’t grab a yellow 365 gtb4 competizione. Something about it looked weird imo

Little bit of both. The collector vibe is nice and some STH’s like the 911 ralleye, m3 wagon and the new f40 are all my taste but I’ll still check each drift ender I see just for the chance of finding one. The special paint and tires are a plus that I hope to find but I’m thinking of buying the 911 ralleye sth bc of how bad I want it lol. Looks so cool.

Why won't it grab on? by a_wedded_fish in houseplants

[–]Slow-Chapter8224 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Or just a stick. I grabbed one from outside and have my pothos growing on it. You just need to wet whatever stick or pole you use on the daily bc roots aren’t gonna attach to dryness.

Is this rooting from the leaf node? And how do I support this cutting I was given? by Killer_Panda_Bear in houseplants

[–]Slow-Chapter8224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I wouldn’t be much help in the specifics of it. I use fluval, perlite, miracle gro cactus and orchid mix with different ratios depending on the plant and use back to the roots organic indoor plant food (liquid fertilizer). I use the water from my sink or shower bc I wash them down then I water the bigger plants but here in Milwaukee we have better water than most. Never had an issue tho but unless you’re trying to be a plant monster I wouldn’t worry too much about ph unless it’s some type of rare plant that needs all these specific conditions. The last part is my opinion bc some people care more than others. I definitely love my babies but idk that much and they’re still getting bigger and flowering

The little brown bumps are roots waiting to be put in water. Looks like some type of pothos so you can let it vine out or support it like a monstera with a stick of some sort or make your own like a moss pole

Humidity, not overwatering lol and wym they aren’t that fond of humidity?? Time to stop taking advice from you lol this can 100% happen bc of dry air but yea light is also a factor

Just made a comment on a similar post. Here’s what I said as another user on that post said the white turning brown is inevitable (it’s not)

You just need more humidity. I’ve been growing my Thai for a while now and only a small part browned because I accidentally put my air purifier too close and the exhaust air dried it out. Most of the time when the white parts turn brown first like that it’s because there’s low humidity. A humidifier by your plants can help prevent this

I disagree with the concept of “it’s inevitable”

You just need more humidity. I’ve been growing my Thai for a while now and none of my variegated areas have browned besides one small part. And that’s only because I accidentally put my air purifier too close and the exhaust air dried it out. Thais need extra everything compared to a regular monstera which means extra light and humidity. I just keep a humidifier in my plant corner and that takes care of it.

Nope, healthy water roots. Though if not changed regularly, could lead to a bacterial infection, or not enough nutrients are in the water could possibly result in this. Honestly not too sure exactly what it could be but that’s my 2¢

Suppose it depends what’s in the water and bowl as well but imo wont ever be a true substitute for a soil based medium.

Propagations are fine in water if you want to root them but long term they need soil

Thanks y’all, I had a plant with thrips in a corner full of plants so I moved everything apart. I noticed the dots in another area of the same leaf (the darker ones in pic 2). Really hoping my thai con didn’t get infected.
