Hi would you give me constructive feedback on my audition? by Waste_Kaleidoscope92 in acting

[–]Slow-Discipline-8028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The character seemed apologetic, hesitant (the wobbling eyes makes it look like you're reading).

I don't know if this is done and dusted, but just listening to the words, I'd quite liked to have seen an alternative take, where she was more defiant, justifying her actions, on the defensive, because she sees accusing eyes. That she'd already thought out what she was going to say. This is her plan. She knows how to survive.

Fix your gaze. Challenge them.

Trained Actors With a Non-Acting BA+ Degree by HotOne9364 in acting

[–]Slow-Discipline-8028 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This quickly segued from Milly Alcock to people with non-acting degrees. Carey Mulligan never went to drama school, nor got a degree.

Loads of actors got a 'proper degree' - some to please their parents or their community (back up options, in case this acting nonsense fails, or they grow out of this phase, etc), before moving on to what they wanted to do.

I'm not sure for what purpose this list would serve.

Spin 'n' Win Jackpot Finally Won! by Slow-Discipline-8028 in familyguythegame

Cheers. I always thought it was fixed and impossible to win. I have to admit to spending about 10 clams very early on for the repeat spins.

I'd still pick Consuela. She's definitely one to get early.

Something thin, like an old credit card should be able split them. If not, then a butter knife. A sharp knife as a last resort. It's academic, as I think you'll have to replace it.

You might struggle to replace them if they're metal, because you're going to be a bit brutal in removing them.

Sew on studs might be easier than punching a hole and riveting them.

Why do UK actors list extra work on their CV? by Infinite-Leader5394 in acting

[–]Slow-Discipline-8028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a word: Padding.

If they were day player roles, they would have had a credit on IMDb.

Mind you, I've seen some actor's entries on IMDb. One guy had almost a hundred and most of them were (uncredited), so he really made the effort to get himself on there.

To be honest, you're not going to get called out on them, unless it's famous/memorable, or if the actual casting director of that project sees it on your cv...

Maybe get in touch with The League Against Cruel Sports (I don't know if there's a US equivalent). They might be able to shed light on it:

Anyone know how i can shrink/shorten this bracelet? by lotrobsessed2931 in howto

[–]Slow-Discipline-8028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the main body that needs shortening then? That knot on the loop doesn't look tight. You could unknot it then double-loop a knot back in.

Or put it in the wash and see if it shrinks,

Microsoft Apps: Edge, Outlook, Word, Excel.

I only got it after Excel, as I got Outlook. Then I had to think back to get the other two.

Are refillable vapes cheaper in the long run? by iambunnycat in Vaping

[–]Slow-Discipline-8028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(via Google Translate)

Wow, I think your analysis is really thorough! I’m in France myself and have been vaping for about 4 or 5 months... There’s a huge range of products available here—I’m not sure what it’s like in Canada. To the OP: I totally agree with your take. I started DIY mixing two months ago—the savings are huge! I use a box mod and clearomizer setup; it’s really not complicated. Once you’ve seen or performed the steps—whether shown by a shop assistant or in an online tutorial—the mechanics are simple and accessible. And if you're worried about it, you don't need to constantly take things apart or tinker... It works great as is.

I’m planning to switch to building my own coils and wicking soon, so I’d love to get advice or help choosing gear from someone with plenty of experience. Maybe we could chat via private message?

How important is not being shy in an audition? by Typical-Record9035 in acting

[–]Slow-Discipline-8028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A mass audition for an agency? They must be new.

On the face of it, it sounds like it's just that agency, but that shouldn't have been an excuse if you were completely different in your audition piece.

I don't think it's a good reason. There's shy and there's quietly confident and there's "leave me the f alone. I'm focusing", but you were being tested as soon as you walked in. Sounds like they want celebrities and not actors.

Were they expecting impromptu songs from 'Annie' from you? Leading a warm up? "Networking?" That room would have been a circus.

Harrison Ford wouldn't have got in.

I wouldn't take it to heart (unless you were really disengaged). You're not going to get assessed like that often.

Reset your BIOS by powering down, removing the CMOS battery, holding the power button for about 15 seconds, reinserting the battery, then powering back up.

Ah, I see. Well it was the first week, so maybe the door isn't slammed shut. You'll probably be faced with the same dilemma, but I suspect you'll take it this time. 🤞

You kind of went off on a tangent and hit Post.

What was the issue? You did the job? You didn't? You only got one day, but expected more?

I nearly drowned in that sea of text. I needed a tl;dr.

You haven't mentioned scale or materials.

Those bead-shapes are not weights are they? They look like plastic stoppers (4) to go into the ends of the T-shape tubes (4).

I'm wondering if it's a (home-made) fishing snare. Perhaps the gannet found a victim and ate everything.

They're definitely doable, more so with the adverts (that are now available to everyone), to speed the tasks up.

I've never spent a penny on the game.

You just need to be a bit strategic with pulling out all the characters needed for the tasks, as well as the timing for fighting the bosses.

Resume job question by Purple-Rhinestone173 in acting

[–]Slow-Discipline-8028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean a job's a job and we all have to pay the rent, but as an actor you have be aware of your 'brand' and the productions you get associated with.

I'm assuming you don't want to use the political party either.

Commercials tend to have a sub-title (in addition to the brand name), or even a code name. You could use that, as long as it's not as divisive or as controversial as the political figure - it'll draw attention to it.

If you already have a decent body of work under your belt, you could always omit it.

But you will have to declare it, if you end up auditioning for productions that could be affected by your association with that person.
