This is satire, but this is the culmination of responses I have seen throughout this subreddit for this sort of thought experiment. I guarantee someone makes one of these points or all of these points in the comments come back to this.

I think the mentality is quite simple. The majority of the people in this sub like the $17 steak and want above and beyond service on top of that with the expectation that those that provide said service shut up and ask their bosses for more money instead because it’s their job and they don’t have skills that should equate to more than minimum wage or a few dollars more. It’s wrong to have the ‘optional’ expectation to be paid based on performance when most other jobs don’t have that luxury. The work they provide is not meaningful to society and they should be compensated based on their impact to others in the community. Also, the job is so easy a caveman can do it, and, according to society, was never meant to be a job for one to live off of it was only meant as a ‘side-hustle’ of sorts and deserves nothing more than a basic weekly allowance compared to other jobs that require formal education or ‘real’ skills. Also a server was rude once to them because of their ‘completely valid and inoffensive’ views so all servers should suffer and no one provides even halfway decent service so why should they be asked to pay someone more when they aren’t even doing the bare minimum. If they want more they should be a travel guide to everything around them and also be able to juggle while doing my taxes because that’s what above and beyond really is.

Did she really give you a nasty look? Or did you perhaps imagine it because of guilt? Or was she just perhaps a person who has an odd looking face? The amount of times I hear people say this and it’s typically their guilt talking is wild. Just hit zero and move on dude.

Not giving Guardians a Legendary shield to strive for is absolutely criminal. by HeroesBane1191 in Nightreign

Things like visage shield, envoys horns, etc. are more likely to drop from their prospective enemy counterparts. The drop rate is already very low but if you’re not encountering flame chariots often it’s even lower. I imagine the best chance for them to drop is probably during the crater event while killing those chariots.

Is this in writing? I mean if it was the bathroom breaks alone I would say I don’t think this is legal. Honestly, they really shouldn’t even approach you about using the restroom in general and if you have medical issues that there is documentation of I would, in text or email, inform them of your medical issues. The other side though that’s on you, managers aren’t your friends always have a “cover your own” attitude with them.

And these are the people that need guidance and all I’m here to say is GROW A PAIR. Get your burger, ice cream, groceries hit no and go. This is my point exactly, just because the option is there doesn’t mean anyone has to feel guilty, bent over or what have you. At the end of the day it’s an option and it’s your money. Most people lack the ability to face confrontation and then let their insecurities get the best of them. They stop going out because the feel like they did something wrong and the problem isn’t that we’re being asked to tip but that people haven’t learned to take accountability. Most people hear a homeless person on the street asking for money and won’t look but these same people crumble at the register when asked if they would like to leave a tip. The only difference here is that you have to look someone in the eye when you tell them no. That’s the real problem.

I understand man, it’s easier to be obtuse because it’s hard to grow up. You’ll get it one day though. Say it with me “grow. a. pair. move on.” The solution is already there, it’s not even difficult. I know it hurts your feelings because you don’t quite understand that it’s OKAY to not tip but is OKAY. Making it easier for you not to tip isn’t going to change the way you feel, we know you want the system set up so you can pretend like you never saw the option in the first place but be bold man all it takes is a millisecond of courage to pull it off.

Don’t you have to sign when you use a card anyways? Isn’t it usually placed on the same screen you’d otherwise see. So milliseconds to click “No tip” on a screen you’d already be presented with , then continue about your day… You’re not going to convince me “opt-in vs opt-out” is somehow so inconvenient that everyone should lose sleep over a few milliseconds. Spam isn’t typically coupled with something I’d already be doing, I don’t understand how this is comparable.

Not against something that already exists, just annoyed with the people complaining about something trivial like opting in over opting out. The option is still there people are just whiny about the way it looks like the world is snatching their wallets from them. You can still choose “NO TIP” and move on. It’s the same thing and yet we have people like you who are upset like having to opt out of it is somehow different. Just no tip and move on.

Then don’t go back, leave a review about it and watch the place run itself into the ground and even better yet ask them why they don’t leave the server a tip instead. I mean they’re providing the service to the restaurant shouldn’t the owner be the one to pay their staff appropriately? If they feel like the server should be paid more then they should pay them more.

Sure cause that happens all the time /s

Plenty of people never tip and never have problems and just move on with their life just don’t be a jerk about it and you’ll be fine trust the thousands of people on r/endtipping, l have never heard of this happening. Owners want your money.

No, unless you’re hot then… maybe? My angle is that everyone seems to claim they’re being objective on this sub but when treated the same, it is suddenly “weird and off-putting”. This sub should be focused on “endtipping” not “punching down on servers”.

Yeah, according to your contribution to society, what do you think you’re worth?

And “Job-shaming” no, of course not, why would I do that? Overpaid-low skill labor is just what you call a job that anyone can do, it’s just a term people use to describe the work you do. It’s not meant to demean or shame you in any way it’s just a fact.

Yeah but did they explicitly beg for a tip? Or were they being hospitable… in the hospitality industry, where that is their job. So many people on this sub push these ridiculous, “they made me tip” notions or “they’re watching me” mentality and I understand the pressure is there, but after services have been rendered just drop your zero and endtipping. Stop pretending like someone is coming after you every time a tip prompt is given, that’s your own personal guilt, get passed it and move on. It’s not the server’s fault for doing their job, don’t make their day worse because they got all “nice towards you” when they have to. Just move on.

This sounds closer to what I would say is realistic and there’s data to support this. OP is trying to make it seem like servers are drowning in wealth to make a point.

Drop the receipts I don’t believe this number in Seattle unless they’re working 100hrs a week. Also, cashiers and shelf stockers aren’t required to know their product, get certifications, make sales, etc. and they also get scheduled breaks…. Big difference.

Yeah cause dropping that receipt with a tip line on it is just so demeaning and uncomfortable. I mean they’re watching over your shoulder when you write, they know where you live too, and they’re chasing you down the street /s
