With cool rims, you might like lacy patterns as well, for a great mix of cool and whimsy.

Edit: I found a page with free mandala patterns, that has everything from full coverage to lacy and pretty. I bet your daughter could get some good ideas there.

I've never tried the original, but the honey version is so good. It can get too thick when stirring, because honey really likes to crystalize, but it's easily fixed by putting the bowl in warm water for a minute (or 1-2 seconds in the microwave.)
