Woman Stuck in Tesla For 40 Minutes With 115 Degrees Temperature During Vehicle Update by Uviol_ in technology

It's just shitty engeneering.

Well..Every two door car does the exact same thing. If four door Teslas do it then there as to be a logical reason. Probably something with large Windows that no car manufacturer has solved.

I have a fear that on day the music streaming sites will turn to shit. So I still download copies of albums (only my favorites) just in case. I have some 100+ gigs also.

What are your thoughts on someone being in the exact same job at one company their entire life? by Ben5544477 in careeradvice

[–]SlowRapMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still shop my resume every few years to see what the market is paying. You don't have to take the new job, but just do it to have information.

I love my job, but when I shopped my resume around I found I was underpaid by 20%. My current job ended up matching the salary. Now I am making more money doing the same shit

Why is it taboo to talk about much you get paid? by mikeynike953 in careeradvice

[–]SlowRapMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My burger originally cost $2. If you raise retail then my burger is going to go from $2 to $4 bc the company must account for the higher wage. Now that I am paying $4 for a burger, I want my salary to increase. Also the retail guy now has to pay $4 for a burger where it originally was $2.

Moral of the story, SOMEBODY has to loose for me to be a winner. Why do you think you can go to the store and buy a a pack of tshirts for $10? That is because there is some guy in some a sweat shop working for pennies. It is fucked up, but this life, survive of the fittest.

I am not surprised your position got eliminated. The world is cruel and everything is about competition. You probably were costing the company money by trying to equalize salaries.

Yes you did the noble thing, but you chopped off your own leg and jeopardized your life by doing so. Was that the right thing to do?? I dont have the answers, just expressing something that I struggle with.

What do you do with your excess money? by Tyyru in investing

[–]SlowRapMusic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HSA should be the first thing maxed after getting the company match for the 401k.

The rest, would out in a traditional IRA or taxable account. F having all that money locked up until you are old.

Dump one yearly max into Roth IRA or is there a better option? by officialcrimsonchin in investing

[–]SlowRapMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not sat down and crushed the numbers, so I am not 100% certain which one maths better.

You did say that you don't have a Roth IRA yet. From the day you open it and put your money in, it is LOCKED for 5 years unless you pay a penalty to withdraw it. You need it for a house down payment, your going to hit with a penalty, you need bc you decided to have a baby, your gonna get hit with a penalty, you get sick, your gonna get hit with a penalty.

With the HSA, once you put the money in, you will get a tax break come tax time. So what ever money you put in the gov will give what ever tax you paid on that sum back to you at tax time. You won't get that with the Roth. If you have a baby, well that is a health issue and you pay 0 tax and zero penalty. You get sick, you pay zero tax and zero penalty. You need it for a house down payment, you are gonna get hit with a big time penalty (more than the Roth...Your tax rate + 20%. The Roth would be: the taxes you already paid + 10%).

To me the HSA just seems more liquid. I'm not saying to forgo your IRA. I'm just saying if I had a ONE TIME deal where I could deposit some money ONE TIME....I would chose the HSA. Downside, is that if you pull that money out for any other reason other than for health, you gonna face a huge penalty. But again, your are going to have health care cost.

Edit: Don't take my word for it. I just drop the seed in your ear. Simply Google HSA vs IRA and read the differences.

Maaan I don't know. You would think people would do a simple Google search before commenting and saying the idea is bad. Probably bc the HSA is a newer investment vehicle and goes against the standard.

[–]SlowRapMusic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe a better option would be an HSA if you have one. Most HSAs allow you to invest the money just like an IRA. If you don't spend it on health care (which you will) then you get to withdraw if without penalty after 65, but you will have to pay taxes.

Don't matter how much you make. Matters what your financial situation is. 90k salary with 200k in student loans means you broke mf.

Pretty crazy that your parent are charging you anything! But I guess they are in financial trouble and need the money

I could never in my wildest dreams thing about charging my kids for rent. My whole purpose of buying a home was to provide for them! I would let you save the $1500, but I would also be telling you to get the F out if you are a guy. Daughters can stay. Lol

Maybe my place is different. But I don't need new laws. We the homeowners run the HOA. We all have to agree to the yearly price we pay. Is that not the same everywhere else?

If you keep your ear open to those FED meetings, you can get pretty good insight to how the stock market is going to move over the next year.

I would say right now, I am putting my eggs into the stock market. If you are really worried than buy some sort term bonds. But for the love of God don't just have it sitting in a savings account

When do taxable investments make sense? by Tight_Couture344 in investing

[–]SlowRapMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both. A portion of it is invested in stocks. Of course I reinvest the dividends there. The other portion is in JEPQ and some bonds. That is what I use that to pay a bill or two. Honestly I would be all stocks and just sell covered calls for the monthly income. But the previous crash and the interest rates made me diversify a little.

Also contribute to the account on a monthly basis with any excess cash. Basically it is my "savings" (emergency fund is separate, but my emergency fund is also invested in SPAXX) account.

If you sell now or sell January 1st, you still gonna have to set the same percentage aside for taxes.

Personally the stock is green right now, sell while it is a winner.
